Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

If the 10 commandments are written on your heart how would it be possible to NOT be entangled?

Do you wonder about any of these scriptures I have posted?

I can't just put Truth aside. It has set me free and removed the vail from my heart and mind. I wish I could do the same for others. But apparently there is only ONE who can do this.

We're supposed to give to those in need, comfort the widow and the orphan, but what they need most we seem not to be able to give. Just lead with the bread crumbs of Truth.

Ok. Good luck.
You just cant stop can you

Now if you replace law with 10 commandments then maybe we can agree.

I know that you have a slight problem with that.
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. (Isa 64:6 KJV)

BUT : -

NayborBear

Banned Serpent Seed Heresy
I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
"I will" is future tense. I firmly believe the Jews will eventually turn to Christ, but at this moment in time I personally do not feel Jews and gentiles worship the same God. I will believe this when as a nation they: (1) turn to Jesus (2) follow His teaching (3) reject Old Testament law (4) magnify the name of Jesus. (5) so that, "the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." (2Th 1:12 KJV)

May God bless and use your love and sincerity in the fullness of His work.
This "time", is closer then many believe.

There are many "Messianic Jews."

It seems something, or some ones' are provoking Israel to jealousy, as the "fullness of the gentiles", is drawing nigh. ;)

Yes. I feel the 10 tribes might be returning to Israel?

Romans 7:6-7
6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

What law? The 10 commandments. They are what say do no covet. Not 613 mitzvot. Although they are like an addendum...

Romans 7:6-7

Romans chapter 7 is a continuation of Romans chapter 6 in which Paul talks about being buried with Christ (v4) after which we are raised up into newness of life.

Moving on to chapter 7 Paul begins by comparing the law with marriage. While our husband or wife live we are bound by the law of marriage, but should one die, the other is free from the law. So it is with us when we marry into the body of Christ and begin a new life with Him.

In the next chapter (8) beginning at verse 1 we read:
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

God's gift through Jesus Christ is eternal life and this is why people, can joyfully sing, you as well, "Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb."

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2Cor 5:17)

May God bless. :)

And there you have it. The law of sin and death and the law of the Spirit. Which law should we serve? How is the law written upon our heart? Through endless devotion to study, or through the relationship with the Spirit?

Yes.

We are saying the same things but the meanings behind them are different for PS.

We read and say we are free from the law of sin and death. You know and I know this is in reference to the 10 commandments.

PS doesn't. PS thinks this is in reference to the 613 mitzvot.

We read and say that we have been delivered from the law that we should serve in newness of Spirit.

We know that what we have been delivered from is the 10 commandments but PS thinks this is in reference to the 613 mitzvot and not the 10 commandments.

We know that the law is what brought us to Christ. And this is in reference to the 10 commandments.

We know that when we come to Christ we are no longer under the law. This is also in reference to the 10 commandments.

But PS doesn't. PS thinks we are no longer under the 613 mitzvot only.

So how do we sort this out when we use the same words but don't use the same meanings?

We kind of have to go over what we mean when we say certain things. Or use certain scripture.

This maybe doesn't seem like a big deal, the difference between being under the 613 mitzvot vs the 10 commandments, but I think it is worth addressing.

Yes sir. Redefining the plain definition of words to imply the very opposite of what they originally intended. This is what the enemy makes his living from. Deception. Every good salesman knows the routine. Sell what is worthless for over and above what it is worth. How? Strawmen and appeal to's…

You present a very good question above. The problem is once the enemy changes the history and meaning of something, then goes on to destroy the physical memorials of the culture, it's virtually impossible to correct the damage without major upheaval, sadly.

What you are hitting on is what I've noticed in doctrines like the SDA. In order to justify working the commandments they have to separate out the cultural from the spiritual, moral from ceremonial as they seem to coin it. Division is key. It's the hallmark of the enemy and has been occurring long before Jesus came. In order to change what God says you have to divide his word into pieces then hold up one piece and say 'God Says!'. You know, cherrypickn'!

You misunderstand me. The Ten Commandments (in my view) apply across the nations, while the 613 Mitzvot, that include punishments on this earth, are specifically for the Jews. They are all physical in nature.

Our relationship with God is spiritual and there is the difference. I am reminded of my elderly aunt in hospital who said some nurses did their job because they had to, while other nurses did it because they loved the people they cared for. She said you could always tell the difference between those who did it because it was required it of them (the law keepers) while others did out of love for people. Jesus died a ransom for us because the law required it, but he was motivated by love. So it is with us, and if we love people with our heart, i.e. spiritual love, then we are not going to harm them so the law is kept, but for those who love God, the law is of no avail because they rise above the law and go the extra mile.

If you notice, someone who follows the commandments of Christ, will keep the whole law and more. Those who do not have the law, but follow Christ, will keep every jot and title of the law as it was intended and not be tied up in chains as the enemy would like.

Matthew 5:41
And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

Matthew 5:38-42
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.

Matthew 7:14
For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Matthew 24:13-14
But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Galatians 6:7-9

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

The law is written in your mind and placed on your heart at the point of conversion, only then can you have a saviour from sin. Note the order in the following:

The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:

16 ‘This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.’[b]

17 Then he adds:

‘Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more Hebrews10:16&17

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Which one is the schoolmaster? The 10 c's or the 613 m's?

You are correct in your 2nd paragraph. The bible tells us this too. (Rom 3:31)

Make sure you tell WalkingTree that you claim it is the 10 commandments that is written in their hearts and minds.

We just talked about people who use the same words and the same scriptures but mean them and understand them entirely differently.

Which is what is happening here.

Well hopefully walking tree understands one of the most basic biblical facts of all:
Through the law we become conscious of sin Romans3:20

So anything he could do which would make him believe he committed sin if he did it is law written in his mind and placed on his heart

I wonder if walking tree would-as would every other sane Christian, consider it sin to murder, steal, commit adultery, take the Lords name in vain etc. Why don't you ask him?

I just don't want you to mislead WalkingTree into thinking that you interpret scripture correctly.

That's why I said make sure you tell him that you think it is the 10 commandments that are written on the hearts and minds of Christians.

Make sure you don't leave that out.

Are you going to ask walking tree if he would consider it sin to commit adultery, steal, bear false witness, murder?
You should you know, for if he replies ''yes'' you can explain to him that's wrong because the ten commandments are not written in your mind and placed on your heart
