Hi decon, thanks!, many thanks for your words and opening up a topic that few wish to discuss, I guess you could call it, "name calling", like calling a spade a spade. By using tough language meant to expose their bad theology everyone can bring the light of the bible to discuss and reveal what God's truth say's about their false teaching.

And I cannot believe that some people even said, "but he was such a nice guy", hey! reality check -- "nice guy's" do not place on the heads of kind loving Christians a curse of destruction, nice guy? Nope!
False teaching is a serious thing with dire consequences for the saved who fall for its delusion and the unsaved who do not hear the true Gospel

I have no doubt there is an all out assault on the truth presently.....

Salvation is a one time event. It is not a lifelong process.
The True Gospel is Once Saved Always Saved, Eternal Security, No Works Required, all provided freely by the Grace of God.

The Pope is ill prepared to proffer such a hard-line uncompromising approach.....
The pope has no interest in a hard line approach, he is a fake and a fraud, and has the blood on his hands of innocent children, his main focus presently is building a one world religion.

And I could say a lot worse but I will not, to spare the audience the depth of his evil.

No it is not name calling when you name names of people that present False Theology.

Paul did it.

1 Timothy 1:18-20 (NIV)
18 Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight,
19 holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.
20 Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

2 Timothy 4:2-3 (NCV)
2 Preach the Good News. Be ready at all times, and tell people what they need to do. Tell them when they are wrong. Encourage them with great patience and careful teaching,
3 because the time will come when people will not listen to the true teaching but will find many more teachers who please them by saying the things they want to hear.

i try to read a chapter of Proverbs every morning --

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise,
and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee;
they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
That thy trust may be in the Lord,
I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
(Proverbs 22:17-19)

this just shouts from the page, today: "that thy trust may be in the Lord"

not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit. constrained all under sin so that He may have mercy on all. not of Him that willeth, but of God who has mercy. man at his best state, altogether vanity - can these bones live? "Lord, you know"

at the center, my friends.
it's about Him, not about us; about His works and doings, not about ours ((the pivot)) - so it cannot possibly be that we do well to earn favor or reward, but it is about what is wise: to arouse His anger and bring chastisement down on ourselves? or to abide in His grace doing what pleases Him? there's no question whether we should walk in the light - amen, it is the righteous reply of our hearts and it foolishness to do anything less

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves:
be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
(Matthew 10:16)

be wise -- but not in your own eyes.
and be gentle & harmless. a it's not good to exasperate a child, and turn him against you, but it is to a person's honor to overlook offense without perverting judgement. as Christ says here: i hope we all learn to balance the wisdom of a snake with the timidity of a bird. and the Lord will teach us this - i trust Him to finish the work :) - "
He will do all His will"

i think, Nahum 3:2-12
tho i don't know why stop with verse 12?

i don't understand why y'all are still thinking there's a book of Naomi. you can just go to LDS.org or something and look at the BOM online, check the table of contents / book list on page 1. i guess Hevosmies only glanced at the search results and noticed many were from LDS websites, but didn't look closely enough to see that they were about the book of Ruth or they were literal mormon people whose name happens to be Naomi. then the rest of y'all didn't bother to do any research of your own?

i thought, he was calling down judgements like those in scripture. there's no book of Naomi. i know there's not a book of Naomi in the BOM either (( i have one, and have read it)), so what could it be? well judgement in the Bible is mostly in the prophets. so what prophet starts with an N that he might have misspelled? turns out Nahum 3:2-12 is judgement. bingo, sez i.

people get things wrong.
often.
me too ((am a people)).
it's good practice to double check things - even things you think you're sure about.
The above is a good example of listening and not jumping to conclusions too fast.
Which would we rather do? Fall into sin and error because we thought something was one way and it was actually
another, or take time to understand.

When we think following Jesus is about us the saved, and them the lost, and worst still the evil deceivers, we miss
the Kingdom. Jesus respected the teachers of the law, and knew their strengths. He knew everything they taught
and most importantly of all, how they failed. And He loved them. And some became followers of Him, Paul included.

Loving like Jesus is hard, because it relies on faith in God and being confident in what and who you believe in and why.
But Jesus declared "I am the way, the truth and the life."

So in Him we risk everything, literally, unto death. It is our calling just as the apostles risked everything unto death.
None we know of lived to an old age.

I use to Moderate. It seems they don't mind if posters belittle and defame one another here.
I care. We are suppose to be of the Body of Christ the Temple of GOD.
HE is LOVE and as HE is so are we in this world because It is HE that is to be working in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure.
I agree! But what if GOD did tell him to say that. Or if he thought GOD told him to say that.
Then again maybe he just made it all up.
Yeah he was a nice guy until they pushed to him to far.
It is easy to become a rabble, label the "heretic" and then burn him on the pyre.
The rabble can become a group of loosely associated people who know what they want to achieve.

And the motivation is to be able to push someone so they look so bad they are removed from the community.
We know this is what goes on, the question is, is the behaviour that which the Lord calls us to?

Unfortunately religious groups are very easy to push in this way.
It is why christians are dying round the world, often at the hands of muslims.

So is the Holy Spirit moving, or just the repeat of the way the world works and manipulation dominates?

You already wasted time
You stood up for a sinner and basically said his sin was ok.
We are called to love sinners and get alongside them.
Often the very sin we accuse another of we are guilty of also.

And some things we call sin are actually a miss-understanding or wrong emphasis.

The sin we are called to be very careful of is judgementalism.
Once one knows "I am right, I have got it" and you find others may not agree, it is easy
to fall into.

So which is worse, to be right, and to stomp on another, or to explore with others why
they believe as they do, and see as they see, and bring them into a place of grace?

I understand you were banned for this post. Sorry to see you go
What if that post was intended as a joke.........I mean if you read it slow it is hilarious!

Maybe GNM thought he was talking to people who knew after reading that long funny post that there was no such book in the Bible as the book of Naomi!!!

If that is true can you imagine the laughs he got reading the responding posts? Especially that guy who took a fake book Naomi and turned it into Nahum and called him a false prophet. Or those researching a noexistant book called Naomi AND FOUND ONE then called him a Mormon.

I remember our pastor doing this during our Bible drill games.....right in the middle of the game he would make up a Bible name and say "find the book of Hezekiah 2:12.......kids scramble to find it......fun times

We are called not to judge, but to listen, to let our hearts hear Gods words through His people.

It takes time and cleansing to have the purity of the Holy Spirit to give you sight to see anothers pain and
anger that is dressed in religious language. Or to see another putting words and motivations in someones
mouths which they are not speaking. Or to make someone angry and hurt them because they are denying
something the other holds dear.

One famous testimony is about someone seeing themselves crying out at Jesus saying crucify, crucify, because
we hurt and do not want resolution because we have lost faith that is matters or works.

Only in time will the truth become obvious. Taking the moat out of our own eyes can take a long time.
That is why we are to listen to Gods word before man...Love covers a multitude of sins...
We are to judge righteously from the truth of Gods word...xox...

So let me get this straight. You join the site like 5 minutes ago, read back 10+ pages of a thread of 90,000 posts you randomly chose, give an explanation as if you are intimately familiar with all the moving parts, and then think the whole exercise is funny?

Are you REALLY a pastor? Cause something doesn't pass the smell test here.

If we see a brother commit a sin, take him aside, if he continues in that sin, bring a witness, if he yet continues bring in to the whole church, if he fails to repent, after this, tell him not to return until he repents.

You people excusing sin of others which was ongoing and denied just shows what the problem is with much of the church

You go preach they we must strive to be perfect. But when your own sins are exposed, you ignore them, deny them, or blame shift, or like the new guy did, excuse his sin. And say he was joking.

News flash, God was not laughing.

People will see what they want to see....and or what they have been deceived about.....or out of pride refuse to believe....HE that has ears to hear and eyes to see.....JESUS said..........Just like the guy I worked with.........we had numerous rounds of discussions and the final discussion we had he said this....

"You know, I refuse to believe that if I am a decent moral guy that God would send me to hell." And he then said...."This is what my daddy and grandaddy believed, and if it is good enough for them, it is good enough for me."

That is the attitude of many that will end up in the pit.............

And the kicker......when My brother and I were young we had a kid named Lenny that lived across the road from us and he was as wild as they come.....we had witnessed to him numerous times about JESUS and surprisingly he was a member of a particular religious charismatic group and he yelled across the street, "I would rather be in hell with my friends than in heaven with a bunch of losers like you."

A few years later he committed suicide by car and a rock wall at about 160 KM an hour.................
Hi D...I heard a story from a preacher saying that a chinese lady had asked him
" So my mother is in hell because she did not die with Jesus as her Savior " he replied " Yes "
She said " Well in that case , I would rather be with my mother in hell , then be in heaven without her "....xox..

Surely obedience is manifest in some measure as works correct? Be it prayer, preaching and proclaiming, denial of the world, succor, alms and so on and so forth?

Agreed?

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? James 2:21

Work of obedience.

Abraham was justfed by His obedience.

That’s why it’s called the obedience of faith.

But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: Romans 16:26

again

Abraham was justified by the obedience of faith when he obeyed the Lord and got out of his country, out of his household to go to land that God would show him.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8

Of this event Paul says it this way -

And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. Galatians 3:8

This is a type of our being justified by faith; the obedience of faith when we obey the gospel.

Here is that same event from Genesis. -

Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him.
Genesis 12:1-4

Here is where Abraham received faith from hearing God’s word -

  • Now the Lord had said to Abram: Get out of your country, From your family...

Here is when Abraham was justified by faith; the obedience of faith -

  • So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him
