Would you agree that Abraham obeyed God immediately, long before Isaac, when God told him to leave his home of Ur?
Genesis 12.
Sorry I'm on a phone...no scripture.
Yes.
Abraham was justified by faith when he obeyed God by getting out of his fathers house.
This typifies our salvation and how we also are justified by faith, when we obey the Gospel.
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would
justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” Galatians 3:8
- “In you all the nations shall be blessed.”
This took place in Genesis 12, where the Lord commanded Abraham to get out of his own country, to a land that a God would show him.
Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him.
Genesis 12:1-4a
This event typifies the Gospel command repent, whereby we turn away from our old life and follow the Lord.
This is how justification by faith works, through our obedience to the word of the Lord by which we receive faith.
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8
