Until he finds him......
Gotta love deceivers red x'ing the truth.......

UNTIL HE FINDS THE LOST SHEEP JESUS SAID.... @GodsGrace101 A.K.A. FRAN red x'ed my post....I said the same thing JESUS said....speaks VOLUMES to her integrity and or how she deals with the truth...pretty bad when one can make a direct, truthful reference to the bible and a SO CALLED believer will DISAGREE......what does that say about their stance against the truth?

Berean Literal Bible
"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, does not leave the ninety nine in the open field, and go after the one having been lost, until he finds it?

New American Standard Bible
"What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?

King James Bible
What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

Apparently given a few posts recently some say he won't find them because they have strayed too far and and some that the sheep is dead so won't be carried back.

Wow
I do believe that the sheep would be carried back even if dead...that would also depend though.
Is it too heavy? Is there transportion? What shape it's in,,,etc.

It depends on the situation.
If he leaves the others alone,,,maybe an hour or so.
If there's someone with the others,,,,longer.
Sheep are precious and are worth money....
in this case he will go further and most probably find the sheep,
either dead or alive.
Man, you take the cake Fran.........I stand amazed at how many times you claim to be a believer and then stand in direct opposition of the truth.....

Until he finds him......

Jesus isn’t the one who goes to find lost sheep.

Remember these words?

It is finished!

Jesus did His work here on earth.

He taught His disciples what to do when After He descended to heaven.

He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?”
He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”
He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”
John 21:16

James says it this way -

Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
James 5:19-20

  • if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back

  • he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death

A brother who wanders from the truth is become a sinner is danger of eternal death if he doesn’t repent.

Bill,,,Jesus used the sheep analogy because there were shepherds in those days.
He said that heaven will rejoice over one sinner...
one sheep that is found...
even one that had wandered off....
because Jesus knew that it could also happen that sheep are NOT found.
You must know about this....

This is what could happen to a sheep when it wanders off...

I know the analogy.

But given the two parables where does it say that the sheep were dead and not found.
I can't see that in both parables.

The parable in Luke is where the Shepard went to look for the lost sheep.
The sinners.
Remember Jesus is responding to the grumbling of the Pharisees about how he dare spend time eating with sinners.

So said lost sheep repented and Jesus carried them back.
Unlike the Pharisees who felt they had no need to repent.

The parable in Matthew talks about the one who has gone astray.
Not one that is lost or dead.

Both deal with different issues given at different times.

The fact is that one sheep was lost and was found.
Not that 2 were lost and one was found and the other was found dead.

It doesn't, but man she must embellish it to that.....soooooo, that will be twisted into a lost salvation or some other bloviated opinion....

Sorry Bill.
I wasn't posting scripture or referring to scripture.
There are real shepherds around here and I was really talking to you about shepherding.
It seems clear to me by my answers...sorry if you misunderstood.

I should say good night...getting tired and everything that 's said on here is so serious.
I live in shepherd country....if you're ever down this way...
