Hi NotmebutHim, as far as the division of the Promised Land goes, the 12 tribes were these: Reuben, Simeon, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh.

The tribes of Levi were priests w/o their own land/territory in Israel, as they lived among all the tribes and in all the lands/territories of Israel. And the tribe of Joseph became the tribe(s) of Ephraim and Manasseh instead.

So that is at least one way that it can be said there were 12 tribes in Israel.

Who was the "bridegroom of blood"? (the KJV calls him a "bloody husband", I think)

Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son's foreskin and threw it at Moses' feet, and she said, "You are indeed a bridegroom of blood to me."

Heb 13:25 Grace be with you all. Amen. Written to the Hebrews from Italy, by Timothy.
Wait Hebrews speaks of Timothy as though not the writer....no?

But I urge you, brethren, bear with this word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly. Take notice that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom, if he comes soon, I will see you. Greet all of your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you. Grace be with you all.

I found that attached to the end of Hebrews KJV found in eSword. It was in light blue to denote it was added. I thought maybe someone might know why. Maybe we should email Rick Myers the author of eSword and see what he knows?

Who is the human author of the Book of Hebrews?
Even though Paul was sent to the Gentiles, he had such a love and compassion for the unsaved jews because they were blinded just as he was and could not see or recognize their Messiah.

There is controversy over who wrote Hebrews but, my guess is Paul and Timothy.

How many Jewish feast were fulfilled by Christ and what are the names of them?

Lafftur, I'm adding this for funsies but if it is too speculative for this thread, disregard, please. How can studying or even celebrating these feasts bring us greater understanding of Christ?

Great question, CharliRenee! Kind of a complicated question yet, excellent and very necessary to know!

There are 7 Feasts of Israel:

1 - Passover (fulfilled by crucifixion of Yeshua/Jesus - Lamb of God)
2 - Unleavened Bread (fulfilled by burial of Yeshua/Jesus - Bread of Life from Heaven)
3 - First Fruits (fulfilled by Resurrection of Yeshua/Jesus - First born of many brethren)
4 - Pentecost (fulfilled by outpouring of the Holy Spirit, exactly 50 days after Resurrection - Acts 2)
5 - Trumpets (Currently happening - Time of the Gentiles - witnessing for Yeshua/Jesus - all to repentance and forgiveness of sins)
6 - Day of Atonement (Time of the Jews - God opens their blind eyes - they receive their Messiah)
7 - Tabernacles (1,000 year Reign of Christ on the Earth - physically)

There will be varying answers. What I have given is how I understand the scriptures.

Studying and celebrating these feasts can help us understand the plan of God and what "season" we are in. We need to be ready at His return!

Leviticus 23 King James Version (KJV)
23 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.

4 These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover.

6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

9 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:

11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the Lord.

13 And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin.

14 And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:

16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord.

17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals; they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the Lord.

18 And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the Lord, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the Lord.

19 Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings.

20 And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the Lord, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the Lord for the priest.

21 And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

22 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the Lord your God.

23 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.

26 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.

28 And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God.

29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.

30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.

31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

33 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord.

35 On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

36 Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.

37 These are the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:

38 Beside the sabbaths of the Lord, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the Lord.

39 Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the Lord seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.

40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days.

41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the Lord seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.

42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:

43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

44 And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the Lord.

Here is how I see it broken down from scripture:

0 - Passover (fulfilled by crucifixion of Yeshua/Jesus) 14th Nisan not a holiday.
1 & 2 - Unleavened Bread (fulfilled) Two called holidays - 1st day and 7th day.
0 - Wave Sheaf - First Fruits (fulfilled by Ascension of Yeshua/Jesus) Not a holiday.
3 - Pentecost (fulfilled by outpouring of the Holy Spirit) Exactly 50 days after resurrection.
4 - Trumpets (Could this be the return of Yeshua/Jesus? Then, not fulfilled yet)
5 - Day of Atonement (The scapegoat/fast day - Not fulfilled) The binding of Satan.
6 - Tabernacles (1,000 year physical reign of Christ on the Earth - Not fulfilled.)

7 - Last Great Day - 8th day of Tabernacles - The Great White Throne Judgment (Not fulfilled.)

The following is an excerpt explaining the seven days of unleavened bread:

Let us learn the full significance of this. Why did God ordain these Feasts days? What was His great purpose? Turn now to Exodus 13 verse 3 - "Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt." "Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and the seventh day shall be a Feast unto the Eternal". . . "This is done because of that which the Eternal did" (a memorial) — "and it shall be for a SIGN" a miraculous PROOF of identity — "unto thee upon thy hand, and for a MEMORIAL between thine eyes" — WHY? — "that the LORD’S LAW MAY BE IN THY MOUTH"... verse 9, 10. "Thou shall therefore KEEP this ordinance." Do you grasp the true significance of it all? Do you see God’s purpose? The PASSOVER pictures the DEATH OF CHRIST for the remission of sins that are past. The accepting of His blood does not forgive sins we shall commit. It does not give us license to continue in sin — therefore when we accept it, our sins are forgiven only up to that time — PAST SINS.

Shall we stop there with only past sins forgiven? We are still flesh beings. We still suffer temptations. Sin has held us in its clutch! We have been slaves to sin, in its power. And we are powerless to deliver ourselves from it. We have been in bondage to sin just like the Israelites were in bondage to Egypt! To what extent shall we put away sin? Not partly but COMPLETELY! And as leaven is also a type of sin — leaven puffs up, and so does sin — and as SEVEN is God’s number symbolizing COMPLETENESS, we are to follow the Passover with seven days of unleavened bread.

Shall we leave Christ symbolically hanging on the cross? The seven days of UNLEAVENED BREADfollowing Passover, picture to us the COMPLETE putting away of sin, the KEEPING of the Commandments after our past sins are forgiven. They picture the life and work of the RISEN CHRISTwho ascended to the throne of God where He is now actively at work in our behalf as our HIGH PRIEST, cleansing us of sin. . . delivering us completely from ITS POWER. . . The early church kept the Days Of Unleavened Bread, notice Acts 20:6 "We sailed away from Philippi, AFTER THE DAYS OF UNLEAVENED BREAD." Paul and his companions plainly had observed the days of unleavened bread at Philippi. The Holy Spirit would not have inspired these words otherwise. Likewise notice Acts 12:3-4, "Then were the days of unleavened bread," why this, if those days had in God’s sight, ceased to exist. This was after the crucifixion. The days of unleavened bread still existed, or the Holy Spirit could not have inspired "then WERE the days of unleavened bread."

Ok see i thought day of atonement was Him on the cross. I know there are 7 feast and that Jesus fulfills them but I didn't know what you guys just shared, that they have not all yet been fulfilled, but the trumpet feast makes sense that it hasn't been fulfilled.

This is says a lot...And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the Lord.

More to learn...:)

I think that Joshua came from the tribe of Dan; that's also where Gideon and Samuel came from. I may have the wrong tribe name, but I know that all three came from the same one. As for Caleb, I have no idea.
