One sure way of asking amiss is speaking things that you don't understand.
oh how very cryptic. another one that cannot actually deal with the op but has to insert red herrings all over the place

enjoy your fishing expedition

Don't care how much you or anybody else complain or protest, or make excuses for, THAT behavior is NOT from the Lord!

Show me in Scripture where someone, a leader even, laughs hysterically for half an hour, and that's a GOOD thing from the Lord?!

Ridiculous!
Some can’t seem to do that bro.

If it mocks their belief, some will not even admit it is not from God. They will allow that stuff to continue so it does not “hurt them” in some way

Even though to admit that nonsense was not from God. Which would help their cause. They have to attack the attacker instead. Which in turns t=just hurts their own cause.. Yet they can’t see it.

I don't have the wherewithal to read through 20 pages at the moment because for me it is a VERY serious topic and I do believe it occurs today.

Sometimes I find it beneficial to focus on the Logos. So what does the word mean?

The greek and hebrew can always get the conversation flowing but sometimes I meditate on a word and try to stew on its essence if you will.

So to blashpheme. To profane? to intentionally mock? to intentionally exalt above?

For me blashphemy is an "on purpose" deal, thus my usage of intentional.

Sins that are done "with purpose" are quite serious...and not to sound cliche, but it is a slippery slope. Especially when spiritual pride is a factor. It is scary to be on the Lord's "bad side" so to speak. I'm not going to get into "Jude 1:6" discussions on the net at present but it attracts such things and wrath isn't a thing to engage.

I know some are against one sin being "worse" than another but there are distinctions. All sin is NOT the same. I feel like all rectangles are squares but not all squares are rectangles so to speak. Sexual sin was separated by Paul and Blasphemy by Jesus. I can vaguely see more distinctions. I'm not saying there is a hierarchy, just that this is a serious topic that it would behoove us all to take a second look.
It probably is prety important, at least to some,

But is the op right, that all who do this have been cursed forever with no hopes of repentance?

it's rather difficult to respond to someone who has gone off on a bit of a rant

or are you suffering from memory lapse?

at any rate, I already said I do not agree with that behavior and I do not believe anyone else did

show me in scripture where we are supposed to fight and rip each other apart

the attitude you are currently displaying is what is ridiculous

not to mention childish

and frankly you should care. see, there is where I have a problem with someone saying they 'love me in the Lord'

I don't think you do and frankly I don't see that as my problem

so tired of the insulting posts being hurled as people who do not believe the gifts have ceased

not going to bother to answer anymore of the rhetoric ESPECIALLY since I already said I do not agree with the video that seems to have become your main focus...I see that as an easy way out of an adult conversation

Kettle meet pot. Might wanna visit the ACME plank remover company. Just because you are going to hold your breath and stamp your feet and not respond, doesn't mean others can't or won't.

Also, there's a whole slew of people I really don't like sometimes. Probably everybody I know at times. And sometimes they don't like me. But I still love them, and I know they love me. You dish out at LEAST as well as you get sister. So please don't play the victim.
Conflating that disagreement equals hate , or even a lack of love, is nonsense.

You say you don't like the outrageous behavior you've seen on these videos. That's a great start. But the whole point, that Pastor Macarthur made, was the crickets and sometimes DEFENSE of these guys from the Charismatic/Pentecostals, instead of saying it is either phony hoax stuff or a spirit that isn't from the Lord.

Johnny MacArrErr is already proven to be a hypocrite.

He preaches against the "fun liberal churches" but go take a look at his yuoth camps. Immodest dressing, slip and slides and its exactly what he preaches against. When he holds his dead speeches in those camps he also uses different lingo and delivery than he does in his regular sermons. Playing to the crowd.

Keep an eye out for these calvinists, they are the worst of the worst, they preach against the "social gospel" but go take a look at who is unequally yoked with those same social gospel preachers, its our debater Jimmy Whitewashed and his minions.

Form of godliness, denying the power.. Its all about winning debates to these guys. (Like Romans 1 you know full of all "... debate ...")

Hmmm... So if we call Hinn, Bentley, Browne, Hagin etc... blasphemers, that makes us blasphemers, but you calling Macarthur a blasphemer is just fine and dandy? Macadam meet tire!

Why you erect the strawman that someone said love is "feely meely"?

You telling us that in order to love someone you have to like them ALL the time? Did Paul and the others stop loving each other even though for a time they didn't like each other?

Acts 15:
Division over John Mark
36 Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing.” 37 Now Barnabas [m]was determined to take with them John called Mark. 38 But Paul insisted that they should not take with them the one who had departed from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them to the work. 39 Then the CONTENTION BECAME SO SHARP that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus; 40 but Paul chose Silas and departed, being [n]commended by the brethren to the grace of God. 41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

yup. you can put a suit on a sow but it is still a pig

I went to one of these cessationist camps years back because a good friend asked me to go with her. we didn't know at the time what their beliefs were. we just wanted a nice vacation in the Adirondacks :)

while we were told we could not even hold hands if we had a boyfriend and whole bunch of other donots...the so called counsellors were practially having sex in the boat when I opted to go water skiing. they were not even paying attention to the dummy (me) they had behind the boat they were so busy engaged in seeing how much they could do without going all the way

it was both dangerous (for me) and disgusting.

I would have alot to say about what went on there, but no example of actual Christianity that I could see. my friend was disgusted too as were others who were from a Pentecostal church in the US

now I had been going to another Christian camp for years before that and it was run properly and was a great testimony to Christ but they did not teach the gifts either but at least were not rife with hypocrisy. alot of kids and teenagers made a commitment to follow Christ there

I'm not here to entertain you, and I'm certainly not here to teach you. As the blue avatar chick says, "It's hard to fill a cup that's already full".
At least in this thread, voicing my thoughts to others about the lunacy of a vast segment of the Charismatic movement is why I post here.
Oh. And hard as you try, you can't control me or somebody else from commenting. Respond or no, it won't affect what I do.

I celebrate this open discussion. I do wonder much about Hagin and Hinn.
The whole slain in the spirit and hypnotic suggestion, is a strange thing.
And in mass groups some are extremely suggestable, who might gravitate to charismatic groups.

Equally those who want easy believism, and a rational reduced view of God gravitate towards
free grace theology, equally addicts to gnostic ideas of dualistic beliefs of with an eternal spirit
and a sinful flesh.

Judas was not reckoned as a blasphemer according to the word of God. The shoe does not fit.

Matthew 12:31-32 “The man who is not on my side is against me, and the man who does not gather with me is really scattering. That is why I tell you that men may be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but blasphemy against the Spirit cannot be forgiven. A man may say a word against the Son of Man and be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven either in this world or in the world to come!

my personal opinion which I have stated many times in this forum, including this particular thread, is that the flesh is putting on a show

people need to use discretion and discernment. one, should be used by everybody and the other is both learned and given

but the problem is the flesh likes to feel and while feelings are the result sometimes of the Holy Spirit, they should not be the impetus for what people do

like the arguing and repetitive statements that are posted indicating hurt feelings and anger. the personal attacks

it's like a cd that is stuck on autoplay

Oh the irony Penn Ed, baffles the mind:eek:

Thinking back how people would swarm when a member posted a devotional by Joseph Prince or Paul Ellis.
Yet the antics in that video are acceptable.
Apparently the function of the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth and to test the spirits is available on an "on call" basis only.

LOL Change shoes and put them on Peter who was forgiven of His blasphemy abgainst the Son of man seen? Today both Peter and Judas would be out of luck.

Matthew 12:31-32 “The man who is not on my side is against me, and the man who does not gather with me is really scattering. That is why I tell you that men may be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but blasphemy against the Spirit cannot be forgiven. Blasphemy against the Son of Man was forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven either in this world or in the world to come! Why not in the world to come other than he will not apear in the flesh again. if he did then blasphemy world be forgiven .

The question I would ask is.. What is the difference? Why forgiveness when the Son of man is present and no forgiveness when he is not seen . It sounds like spiritual peek a boo. What does that teach us?

Are you referring to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?
Yes. Repeating the same point time and time again does not add to a discussion when
the audience know this point of view. Exploring it in different ways certainly helps.

But if ones mind is stuck, what else can one do. I remember one forum member could
only repeat scripture to express an idea, because it had not grown further in their mind.

This discussion makes me wonder why people are not more cautious and just say, this looks
unusual, I wonder what is going on?

When I first saw Todd Bentley I was optimistic that the Lord was blessing but it soon became
apparent other things were happening as well. For me it is not the emotional states people
get into but the gross sin and cover up while claiming to be especially blessed and an example
for others to follow, and simple heresy being spoken. Everyone can get ecstatic but it just shows
how they are not the why.

And having the Lord anoint one and be infilled with the Holy Spirit is an ecstatic experience,
so who are we to judge, except when you listen to what they are preaching and focusing on.

Are the experiences the focus, or is Jesus and His work the focus, teaching and exhorting God
and His Holiness.
