Food for thought

The new testament can defend itself just fine

I can imagine foolish attempts to try to refute John 3:20

Attempt one, willfully hate the light, with defiance

Foolish!

A better attempt to refute that is to try to come to the light, and be not afraid of the light, and prove that you are not afraid of the light, come and be humblingly earnest onto holiness

So eternal life does not mean eternal life

Of course it does, but as the passage quoted said,it is achieved if we faint not.Read it again:

Galatians 6:
7Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Do you believe the words of scripture?Do you understand the full meaning of, "if we faint not"?

Thank you, It is good to know you do not trust God..
Good luck trusting yourself!!

Wow!!Where did you get that impression from? The passage quoted clearly spoke to the problem which is a lack of faith or unbelief.Read it again also:

Hebrews 3:
12Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of UNBELIEF, in departing from the living God.

Which clearly shows that those who had believed could depart from God and this is caused by, "an evil heart of UNBELIEF".Am I not to believe this passage of scripture either?

I love how you self righteous save yourself by your own deeds people love to slam on people who trust christ, then claim you are so trustworthy..
Remember, God said your works are as filthy bloody rags, if that is what you think you can offer God and expect him to save you, Your mistaken my friend.
Without the sacrifice of Christ that is very true but God also said:

I John 3:
7Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

John is writing to those who are sons of God.(I John 3:1-5)Do you understand why the sacrifice of Christ makes a difference?Do you understand why the person outside of Christ will have no hope regardless of how perfect he has been, but that this is not so for those in Christ as the scripture above shows?

Revere Christ as Lord, and always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. :) The underlined part is apologetics in a nutshell :D
I felt that I seen those words somewhere, thank you for the verse reference

1 Peter 3:15

Thank you

All scripture must be understood with the lens/paradigm of the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus.... scripture apart from this truth is completely misunderstood.
I fully agree. And since Jesus spoke about the events of, "that day", and of entering the kingdom of God in the passage in question,it is for certain that He had this in mind.

I can fix this for you so you have the right lens:)

1)Those who hear and do the Lord's will trusting in Him for salvation apart from works - saved.

2)Those who hear and do not do the Lord's will by not trusting in Him for salvation by trusting in their own works - not saved
I prefer to believe scripture than the mumbo jumbo you espouse.

Listen Saranwrap.....go read Galatians after you trust JESUS by saving faith.....then you will understand that FAITH plus WORKS is a false gospel with no power to save........and the MANY, as well as yourself, PEDDLE the self same false gospel......
Your response and your massacre of the passage in question shows who spewing a false gospel.

You FORGOT ONE THING. MOTIVE!

If you do Obey HIM to try to EARN your own SALVATION, you will be REJECTED.

If you do it because you LOVE HIM, Because HE SAVED YOU, before TIME BEGAN, making it a FREE GIFT, you are a Child of GOD.

2 Timothy 1:9 (CSBBible)
9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Why do we not get credit for earning our SALVATION ? ? ?

Romans 11:6 (HCSB)
6 Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.

The ONLY pure MOTIVE to OBEY GOD, is because WE LOVE HIM, because HE Saved us before the beginning of time.

Romans 4:4-5 (HCSB)
4 Now to the one who works, pay is not considered as a gift, but as something owed.
5 But to the one who does not work [without the motive being to earn salvation], but believes on Him who declares the ungodly to be righteous, his faith is credited for righteousness.

John 14:15 (HCSB)
15 “If you love Me [the only Pure Motive], you will keep My commands.

Jeremiah 17:10 (NJB)
10 I, Yahweh, search the heart, test the motives, to give each person what his conduct and his actions deserve.
I did not forget anything.Your tirade has nothing to do with understanding the passage in question.Try to keep on the subject in question;the proper understanding of Matthew 7:21-27.

Many heretics have already accepted Jesus ;) According to the RCC, protestants are heretics, and according to protestants, the RCC is heretical. So, whaddya gonna do? Revere Christ as Lord, and always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. :) The underlined part is apologetics in a nutshell :D
Do not count me among those that call RCC members as heretics. I have met Several BORN AGAIN Catholics that are seriously, serving the Lord. Two of those were Priests. They teach the GOSPEL the same way I would. They Busy themselves LIVING the Gospel and loving others. Sure they are a minority in the Catholic Church, be they are getting a few SAVED.

One is a body shop owner, and his name is Bob. Near the weekend, he goes to find a couple homeless transient and invites them to stay has his house were he has converted his garage for them to stay in. He gives them a few hours of work, which he waits until the last night, to pay them. Gives them meals, a shower, and a warm bead to sleep in. He has One Rule, every night about 9:00 PM, Bob wants to sit while he reads a couple chapters from the NASB Study Bible that I bought him. So He knows they HEARD something from the Word of GOD, and they had several good meals, a couple showers, and they have worked for a few dollars, giving them a since they can provide for themselves. ALL BECAUSE HE LOVES JESUS, while going to the Catholic Church.

I did not say protestants call RCC members heretics  The RCC itself is heretical. Big difference :D

a. SHOW ME your faith
b. EVEN the demons Believe (in God)

the same issue the JEWS have to this very day....a belief in GOD but NO saving faith........................

Hi Stonesoffire,

I am sorry if I am being dramatic, but the phrase "Our identity is Jesus and His life."

If one says we are not ourselves, by Jesus, and this is not what you mean, what do you mean?
Php 3:10 I want to know the Messiah—what his resurrection power is like and what it means to share in his sufferings by becoming like him in his death,

Identify with His death and resurrection.
