I have sort am at a fork in life right now. I’m not working, not in school, just sorta here...feel like I’m not contributing to society really...

But lately a thought came to mind that was buried a while: to become a caregiver and possibly a nurses assistant. Every time I think of it I have this strange and uncharacteristic confidence that it’s the direction God wants me to be in. But it’s what my mother does not want me to be at all, at least living in her house. She doesn’t want to get sick understandably, but also every big medical thing seems to make her really upset thinking about dad.

So prayer that God would open the door and also make it very clear where He wants me to go.

I'll put you on my prayer list.

I'll pray that God will give you clear direction, and peace.

God doesn't always reveal everything to us all at once.
Sometimes he just shows us little things... maybe just one step to take, and we need to take that step.

However, God DOES want us to know what to do.
If we sincerely seek his will, then he will show us what to do.

Praying with you, steph... One thing i learned while waiting for what the Lord is bringing me to, is practice donkey ministry. That is, allowing others to get to their goals or destinations by being their 'transport' if you have car and they do not, assisting in various ministries by giving time, effort and other resources.

God bless, steph.

I pray that you will know if you should research caregiving options more. There are many opportunities to help others in supportive roles. There are doula positions which come alongside a pregnant woman, or midwife assistant positions who help the midwife while she is directing a birth.

Your mom would have absolutely no involvement with any medical thing whatsoever that you may encounter in the workplace. What is more important is what you want to do as far as work is concerned at this stage of your life. If this didn't work out you can always try for something else.

I was a certified nurses aid for a very brief time but due to my age I really struggled. However, I met many young people who seemed to thrive in that environment being a caregiver to those less fortunate that some others. One of my patients used to be a star player of the Boston Celtics in the NBA. You will meet people from all walks of life and each one has a story to tell. A job like this can lead to other more challenging positions in the health care field.

There comes a time where you just have to follow your heart or otherwise you may end up being miserable. I am sure that your mom would understand this.

It’s good of you to share with us about your desire to be an assistant nurse. I can certainly understand the situation your parents are facing. I’m praying, asking God to surround your family with His love, comfort and give you guidance in a special way as you seek His leading. Grace and peace to you, ArtsieSteph.

I talked to mom more in depth about t tonight... She said she was more concerned about my tendencies and habits and how they may not be good for a nurse. Sometimes I act without thinking, sometimes I don’t care for myself as I ought, ect.

These are very valid concerns. But because my mom doubts I can does that mean I shouldn’t? I know God can do great things but am I stepping out into something I assume He wants me to do and He may not?

Oh I wish He would give me a confirmation or something...I feel so lost on what to do...

Hey, Steph. Are there any local organizations that welcome volunteers? Maybe it can help you see if this is your field?

In all that you do, do it in the name of Jesus Christ and with all your might. If you feel that you might be led to go into the medical field, talk to your mom and tell her, if Jesus has called you to it, He will see you through it. You won't have to worry about sicknesses overtaking you. I worked for a few years in a Nursing Home as a Maintenance Supervisor and never had to miss a day because of sickness. Put your trust completely in Jesus Christ. Praying you will make the right decisions for your life.

I pray for direction in your life. I also pray against fear as that can really hinder us from doing the Lord's will. Your mum's opinions are valid, but perhaps helping others will actually help you grow and change in those areas too. :) I pray that you're able to step out in whatever the Lord shows you to do. God bless!

I probably can share this on here....I honestly wonder...I 've been doing a lot of "what does God want me to do with life" stuff and I notice that a lot of the modern day media and art scene is predominantly pushing LGBTQ and...I dunno part of me wonders if being part of that world but standing for Christian morals is part of what He wants me to do....

Or if that's just me and wanting to push what I would be interested in, and be more worldly in the process. I'm scared of not making the right move

Being scared of not making the right move is probably not the right move.

My brain understands the sentence you just made, but it also is unsure how to precede forward from that. Like...what do you do??? Do you just...PICK something? If you feel like God has sorta nudged you a little toward an option???

I mean no disrespect here Steph, but seeing how stressed and burned out you got while taking care of Daddy, I think the medical field would be too stressful of a job for you. You need to take care of yourself, and you need to think before acting, especially if you want to be a nurse's assistant.

Why don't you try concentrating on your art? :)

Part of it too is the fact I need to do SOMETHING to help mom. It's just me and her, so if something happened to her we would have no money whatsoever. I want to either help by having a job or doing something to work towards getting a career of some sort.

Try Fiverr. It's a website where people pay others $5 to do stuff for them. Such as making a picture, or creating an intro song for their youtube channel. And many other diverse and strange things.. lol
