Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Is this OT requirement also a NT requirement?

Well when you think about it, the above would be a major portion of walking in the Spirit.

Walk humbly with thy God = walk in the Spirit.

It is also a New Testament requirement, for we have to always walk justly for God said be ye holy as I am holy, and we are always to love mercy for love is the fulfilling of the law, and we always have to walk humbly with God for He resists the proud but gives grace unto the humble.

Paul said we do not void out the law through faith, but we establish the law, and the law is spiritual, holy, just, and good, which are the moral laws, laws of love, for they are spiritual laws, not physical laws.

Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecc 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Solomon wrote this is the whole duty of man whether Old Testament or New Testament.

For God will judge all things we do on earth whether good or bad, and if bad for the world it will be bad, but if bad for the saints they are forgiven and is good for it is off their record.

We are to fear God.

Pro 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Pro 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Heb 10:30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
Heb 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

The fear of God is to hate evil, and not want to do it, for all people that do not hate sin will not have it good in the future.

People that want to hold unto sin, and enjoy it, will make excuses that they are alright despite their sins, for the Bible says some have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, from such turn away, ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

The Bible says sin separates us from God whether we confess Christ or not, and the Lord knows them that are His, having this seal, for this is what seals the saints, and how they are led of the Spirit, that those that name the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

But many do not want to depart from iniquity which Jesus said not all who say Lord Lord will be able to dwell with Him, for they did not do the will of the Father, for they were workers of iniquity.

Keep His commandments.

1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Jesus said if we do not obey Him, and keep His commandments, then we do not love Him, and said why call Me Lord, and do not do the things I say.

But again some people will hold unto sin, and make an excuse.

Which a whole denomination, and belief system came about of people that want to hold unto sin, and enjoy sin, and worldliness, and fleshy pleasures, money, and material things, and then say they are still alright with God.

But Solomon said that to fear God, which is to hate evil, and not want it, and to keep His commandments.

But there are excuses, and false beliefs among many that claim Christ.

Which is why they like OSAS, and to believe that God chose them in the beginning, for they know they sin, and hold unto sin, for they say they cannot abstain from sin testifying of it, so if they believe they can never fall away then their sins cannot condemn them for they cannot fall.

But then because they want to hold unto sin so much, and enjoy sin, they say a terrible thing that God chooses who will be saved, and not saved, without their choice, which means God's kingdom is not true love, and God is not evil to condemn people who have no choice in the matter, especially when God said He is no respecter of persons, and what makes you to differ from another person, and all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile, so God views all people the same.

And God said He does not want anybody to perish, but to repent, and come to the knowledge of the truth, and be saved, and commands all people everywhere, the whole world, to repent, and acknowledge the truth.

But like the Bible says they are ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, for they will not let go of the flesh.

When we fail to understand or refuse to acknowldege the truth that under the O.T. the blessings of God were contingent upon obedience we will miss the truth that under the New Covenant ALL things are given freely in Christ dia faith.....

Sure God loves and requires and or seeks All three characteristics listed in the cited verse ro be fpund in his children.....the difference is found under the banner of...GRACE outbounding our sin and failures........

Grace through mercy was freely given to Abel., No grace could be found in Cain's eyes. He rejected the mercy of God bring the right sacrifice) and killed the messenger. Atheist . . no fear of God in his eyes.

All things are given freely by grace through mercy in any generation.

Grace was prophesied before the time of reformation had come .The Old testament believers walked by faith through grace just as us to today. receiving the end form the beginning.

They looked ahead to the reformation or cross using the assigned metaphors in ceremonial laws we looked back

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 1 Peter1:11

Conditional blessing under the law --->>>> If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

Sorry believing God is obedience to his law . The letter of the law will continue to do its work leading a person to believe . Its not anarchy the law does not have to be obeyed.

Conditional blessing under the law ? The same law of truth we are not under?

Is grace a law or a theory? What is the law of grace.....? Does it need the letter of the law . Is grace incomplete with the law of Moses...

David who arranged the daeth of Uriah after impregnating Bathsheba was blessed. All of the prophets were blessed to prophesy ad work wonders by the Holy Spirit. Daniel was blessed. The three who went into the fire were blessed, and long before the law Abraham, Isaac and Issrael were blesse.

God' sun shines on the just and the unjust alike, just as his rain falls on the same. We see peopl who by appearances and by our understanding are quite wicked who are blessed, at least in their striving for comforts and wealth.

God blesses whom He will, and this is good for faith informs me that He knows far better than the Bible scholar of the intelelctual or my pea brain. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow, amen.

Yes. There were definitely conditional blessings for Israel under the Law. Kindly take some time to examine this aspect of the Law.

I am not sure what you mean by "the same law of truth we are not under". Christians are not under the Old Covenant.

Not under the covenant of grace like that of Abel?

Neither were the believers in the Old testament that walked by faith the unseen .They were forgiven of the written laws requirement (death eternal ) not death (the temporal) .as the wrath of God being revealed even today (a dead creation...

Ones who did violate the written law went to jail just as today .

Psalm 19:7 The "law of the Lord" is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

The law of truth is the two laws working together to establish one. . . eternal life. One seen the temporal the other not seen the eternal. Together called the "perfect law" both the written law and the law of faith .

Fulfilling the law by providing the wage as the father poured out his wrath on sinful flesh that could never profit.. It does not mean it the letter of the law does not govern the morals a law of this world. We are free from the eternal consequence but not the temporal as to what the eyes see.

Its why the Son of God in respect to the Spirit of Christ put on the temporal flesh of man signified as sinful, in order to do what the written law that kills could not do . Convert our souls and give us simply ones his understanding.. . . not seen, the eternal the law of faith (understanding)

Romans 8:2-4 King James Version (KJV) For the law of the "Spirit of life" in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the "law of sin and death". For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The righteousness of the law (salvation) is not found through the letter of the law .That would be half of the perfect. It is completed or made perfectly whole by the unseen work of faith .The father pouring out his wrath on the Son, as a imputed righteousness.

Many who come into the forum believe they know the law never having actually learned it, especially the teachings direct from our Lord Jesus, Yeshua.
They also see the Old Testament with the veil of Moses over their eyes for if they did not have it over their eyes they would see Jesus Christ throughout the OT including in th elaw which is filled with wisdom and understanding from our Father.
Any who were and are under the law will always be as long as they have this veil…. It is a pity, but learning directly from Jesus, Yeshua, will cure that ailment.

Not under the covenant of grace like that of Abel?
Why don't you go and study this subject which pertains to ISRAEL?

Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known. (Deut 11:26-28)

Which Israel?

Israel, a word designed to represent the beliver as one who does not wrestle against flesh and blood represent by Jacob (no faith) but is given the power to see the unseen world high places as one yoked with God who works in the believer to both will and work with him to accomplish the good pleasure of the will of God.

I am aware of how the bible defines the word that he renamed his people as a picture of conversion (the gospel hidden. . It would seem many refuse to acknowledge the results of the first century reformation . The previous time period used as a parable as seems to all but disappeared .

It would seem in the hope that the flesh of a Jew who cannot prove the genealogy as a pure Jew to begin with . records do not go back two thousand years .And even if they did. Jesus is the last in respect to the genealogy of the spiritual seed( one) not many of the flesh

No need for another Jesus to come and again demonstrate the unseen work of pouring out his Spirit on flesh that he said profits for nothing.. The veil is rent.

The Bible describes the word it chose to represent the people of God. Having nothing to do with the flesh as if God who satisfies all needs, needed something from the clay he forms Christ in .

We have it in these earthen bodies but are never to assume it is of the corrupted flesh. Even Jesus refused to stand in the Holy unseen place of God. But gave glory to God not seen .

If a person tries to fill it with the flesh. . . it is the abomination that causes desecration.

Israel is not the name that gives authority of the flesh. . . that would be after Jacob typified as the deceiver, as in natural man under the influence of god of this world. Jacob had no power with God (Emanuel)

Genesis 32:27-29 King James Version (KJV) And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

Took a little wrestling to pin down the truth in Jacob. . . as a born again name change .

The new name he named Israel his bride is found in the book of Acts.It is Christian. . . the last of the new names.

Christian a word with no other meaning added that means: Residents of the City of Christ, the heavenly city prepared as his bride.

She will come down on the last day in her new glorious body , The sun and moon under her feet,( end of time) clothed with the sun as the righteousness of her husband, crowned with a golden star studded crown .

Thinking about another thread, this seems to aptly describe the "work of faith."

Wrong, the verse in Micah 6:8 is obedience to God's law. Only a person of faith could live the life this command requires.
