Give us your thoughts on anything Christmas. Here are some ideas:

Should we celebrate it?
Exchange gifts?
Decorate trees?
Should it be in December?
Wise men
Shepherds
Santa Claus
Etc...

Jesus wasn't born in December anyways, so Christmas really is just another day of the year.

I don't decorate trees, I pretty much dislike Christmas, except for the candy.. LOL

Jeremiah 10:3-4
For the practices of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
4 They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so it will not totter.

It is said of Santa, he knows whether you were naughty or nice. If you want a present, you must behave. (Jeremiah 10:5
Do not fear them;
they can do no harm
nor can they do any good.)

But the bible says in Matthew 7:11, So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

It is God who gives gifts, not the phantom Santa.

True, people would rather hold on to traditions and not looked upon as societal outcasts than to follow the word of God.

It is not biblical and I do not setup any Christmas trees but I do wish people Merry Christmas and use the time to reflect on the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

It is not biblical, but I got no issues with people who choose to celebrate Christmas. I would not find it in me to have a Christmas tree in my house, but that is my conscience, not yours.

Yay for Christmas!! 🎄🎄🎄 I love Christmas, giving presents, lights, and singing! I really really miss doing a Christmas carols! We used to do them every year during my high school years, and I adored it.

Please don’t get me wrong and be so angry. It’s Christmas time.😀

What’s the reason Christians celebrate Christmas? Tradition? Biblical?

Isn’t it odd that Christmas is the only time people get presents on somebody else’s birthday?

Luk 14:12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
Luk 14:13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
Luk 14:14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

What I do not understand about Christmas is we give gifts to people and they give us gifts but we do not need them to survive.

And we give gifts to those who do good financially, which my dad made good money at his job working for General Motors skilled trades, and I am going to give him a gift for Christmas, and he is going to give me a gift for Christmas when I do not need it.

It is better to give than to receive but we are giving gifts to people who do not need it.

Christmas should be about the poor and needy who need it which there are organizations that take donations for them but it is not enough.

My nephew's son is 5 years old and represents the world greatly with the selfishness, wanting to have his own way only thinking about what he wants, filthy talking dropping F-bombs, B-bombs, and other swear words which I heard him at 3 years old talking like that but now he is professional putting them in combinations that would make a sailor or trucker proud, giving his parents a hard time, whining and crying all the time, and mean like the dickens, calling me stupid and I do not even bother him and anyone else that dares to cross his path.

That kid should get nothing no matter the occasion for he does not want to respect his parents, and people, then he should get no toys ever, and no going anywhere, and that is how it should be.

But his parents made him the monster that he is the same as many other parents especially the younger parents.

Also look at the money spent on Christmas, Easter, Halloween, birthdays, Forth of July, greeting cards for mother and father's day, and all the other ones, and other holiday's and events that money is greatly spent on neglecting the poor and needy for a little material things and entertainment.

We know God would rather us help the poor and needy than spending money on things for Christmas like trees, decorations, and the such.

The Bible says some are lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, which they love entertainment of various sorts more than God.

This time if year is the single greatest time for Charities. Food Banks, and Homeless Shelters to raise money and donations. So, I think Americans are doing that.

Great points. Admittedly, I’ve been guilty of this.

We cannot know which day Jesus was born, because it is not given in the Bible.

However, the birth of Jesus is mentioned, both in Matthew and Luke with genealogies and many prophesies from the OT are fulfilled in Christ's birth!

"6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this. Isa. 9:6-7

So, although things are messed up with regards to date, I think setting aside a day or season to celebrate the coming of Jesus, God the Son, is important.

I have so many good memories of Christmas. Gathering with family, Christmas pageants, then, the joy of kids early in the morning, opening stockings, till the parents finally take the pillows off their heads and get up for Christmas gift opening and a day spent in the kitchen for mom, as well, as mince meat pie, Waldorf salad, turkey and all the trimmings!

Carolling door to door proclaiming "Christ the Saviour is born! " or "Remember Christ our Saviour was born upon this day." I taught music for 8 years, fought to put on a Christmas concert, where each class sang one Christian carol, and one secular Christmas song.

I always went through the vocabulary, which the immigrant children didn't know about. I talked about Jesus taking our punishment on the cross.

Interestingly, the only complaint I got was one year when I was starting to get sick with RA. I cancelled the concert, and the parents were angry I was not doing it! "We've always had a Christmas concert!" Well, since I had been teaching there for 5 years. And I had a lovely children's Bible with lots of pictures, and I would read it (yes, this was a public school!) and then we would talk about how Christmas really ends on Resurrection Day.

Growing up, my Ukrainian grandmother always did a huge meal for all her grown children, and their spouses, plus her 17 grandchildren, using the Julian calendar, which was 13 days after the Gregorian Christmas, (currently 14 days) It is amazing how many of my cousins came to the Lord. I know my father and some of his sisters did, too!

Christmas is a special time to remember how Jesus came to earth, and an opportunity to be a missionary at home. I feel sorry for those who are so legalistic they have missed that Jesus!

When I went back to a regular classroom, I was able to do writing and art projects centred on the Biblical story. Even the Muslims and Sikhs did this assignment. The only kids who did not were the JWs.

Last year I didn't put up the tree! I was really missed not having one. I have a huge collection of handmade ornaments. My health is not good, so I have passed the hosting baton down to my daughters and DILs. I gladly admit how important this "tradition" is to me, and it is a wide open door to share my faith!
