In the New Testament, when Jesus is questioned about a woman who had many husbands, (each dying), in her earthly life and she dies and is saved along with her many husbands also saved, which husband can claim her as his wife, Jesus responds that there are no husbands and wives in paradise the saved will all be as the angles.

How do you understand that spiritual life? Are angles and the saved without sexual gender? What should we look forward to when we hope with All of our heart to be reunited with our wife or husband? What will the gender-less life be like and what will our relationship be like with those who we were husband and wife with in our flesh and blood earthly life?

I ask because my every day and night prayer to our Lord is to be reunited with the love of my earthly life, my wife who I most recently lost.

Hi Robo36...
Sorry for your loss. There are no adequate words for that.

To your question, Jesus' explanation means that the relationship between you and your wife in the eternal kingdom will be different. You won't be "husband and wife", but there will be something that is better. We can't comprehend what that might be, but we know that God is good, and that the reward He has waiting for us will be worth the wait.

Instead of trying to figure out how our present physical and sexual natures will be expressed on the other side of death (about which the Bible says little), focus on trusting in God and walking with Him through your grief. :)

Nowhere does the Bible say that there is no marriage in heaven. Jesus said "at the resurrection" there is no marriage because we will be like the angels. But the resurrection is not the same thing as heaven. Heaven comes after the resurrection. Our relationship with our spouse will be a blessing and you can call it what you want marriage or whatever but there is no doubt we can continue that loving relationship in heaven. Earth just prepares us for a much better relationship in heaven.

I am sorry for your loss. God bless you and may he assuage your grief replacing it with the joy of beloved and cherished memories.

In heaven you will not be estranged from your wife. God does not ever cancel out love not in this age or the next.
In that passage they were speaking of a wife as a possession, and Jesus points out that she would not belong to any of them. She belongs to him, as do they.

Your relationship with her will be perfect and whole, and you love perfect .

Sorry for your loss. But we are looking at two separate issues here.

First of all angels are all MASCULINE not neutered. There are no female angels (as is often portrayed). Therefore angels do not marry. However the angels which sinned before Noah's Flood, left their first estate, and did have intercourse with human women. So they are capable of taking human form and functioning as men.

In any event there will be no marriages taking place in Heaven after the saints have been perfected and taken up to Heaven. However, the relationships which existed on earth will not necessarily be extinguished. At the same time we are not given enough information regarding this aspect in order to arrive at any specific doctrine. Yet we are told that the saints in Heaven are a cloud of witnesses who are watching the race which we run on earth. That indicates a connection.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us... (Heb 12:1)

In heaven there is no gender between men and women which is why the Bible says that a man and a woman are equal in the Lord.

The only thing that separates a man and a woman is the flesh for the spirit and soul are the same.

The spiritual body for a man and a woman is the same, so there is no marriage between them and they are on an equal level power wise without the difference in the strength of the flesh.

They shall be as the angels in heaven for the angels have no gender, and are always known by masculine names for they are greater than people.

Gender only refers to the flesh and not the spiritual realm for angels and people.

Also God said He would make a new heaven and a new earth, and the former shall not be remembered, nor come to mind.

Which Jesus went away to prepare a place for the saints that where He is at they may be also the New Jerusalem, in which the first heaven and earth passed away, and were found no more and there was no more sea.

Which is a place wherein dwells righteousness and a place where sin has never been and sin will never be, and rebellion will never rear it's ugly head again.

Which Jesus said until heaven and earth pass away not one jot or tittle shall depart from the law until all has been fulfilled, which Jesus came to fulfill the law, but He did not fulfill the role of perfect King on earth yet for He came as a humble servant, and it must be done on earth.

Which that is what the millennial reign is for so Jesus can fulfill the role of King on earth, which the LORD shall be King over all the earth, and in that day there shall be one LORD and His name one, and when He has done that then heaven and earth shall pass away.

The saints and angels will then go to the New Jerusalem, and the angels and saints shall remember nothing prior to the New Jerusalem for it is associated with sin and rebellion, and will feel like they have always been there and nowhere else.

And they will not know anything from the earth except God and love for all eternity.

So the people will not remember their spouses at the New Jerusalem, or their pets, or their family, or their friends, and they could be standing next to them and they would not even know it was them from earth, for they will remember nothing prior to the New Jerusalem.

Which God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes for they will not know about those that were lost, and the pain of earth, and there is no pain in the New Jerusalem, not physically, and not emotionally.

There is no flesh in heaven so there is no marriage, and angels have no gender, and people with a glorified body have no gender.

Are you sure heavenly saints are watching us in this sin filled world while they are living in glory? I’d rather be with Christ than remembering this old world.

What if a man had two wives that he dearly loved? Which one? Both? Let’s not let earthly emotions get in the way of truth.

From my understanding we will have heavenly bodies (I assume with gender or at least gender identity since we will still be ourselves), and obviously all our memories and personalities. I’m guessing the way it is up in heaven is that we’ll have heavenly knowledge, so we’ll easily be able to recognize our past family/spouses/ect. There will be no marriage or whatever so we’ll be family in Christ at that point.

To be honest, I think we’ll be so occupied praising the Lord that we may not worry about such things as much.

With no remembrance of sin. Our marriage will be with Christ.
