So I sort of inherited (read they'd boxed it up to give it away and I thought sure I'd use it as a test case) a cheapo off brand tablet that my mother won as part of a gift basket in a raffle. It's slow, apps seem to hang and crash a lot, and batterly life seems to run about 90 min. Price was right for a test piece and I thought it would be fun to make a thread saying: OK I know this is a piece of junk, so what are CCer's most hillarious and creative ideas for what to do with this tablet once I'm done testing out to see whether I actually want to buy my own tablet for games (or mostly to buy board game based apps that are cheaper than the games themselves and play them solo mode). Have fun and it's ok if some tablets were harmed in the generating of these ideas.

Welp I completely read that title wrong!
I thought it said "Things to do with a crappy toilet".

Even after starting to read the OP I was like "Huh?". Who would raffle a toilet? Then I had to start over after I was reading about apps.

Now it makes sense!😁

Crappy toilet? Flush it!

Crappy tablet? Target practice?

Use it as a target for sighting in your rifle before you go hunting.

Play frisbee golf with it.

Use it as a firm surface for writing while sitting on the couch.

Use it as an external hard drive for data storage (far too practical).

Hang it on the wall and call it "art". Don't call it "Norm" though....

Put it in your pickup truck bed for winter ballast.

Donate it to charity. Without the charger cord, of course; they'll really appreciate that. ;)

Who would raffle a toilet? I would! Actually, I did. I ran a rebate program for low-flush-volume toilets several years ago. We raffled one such toilet at a trade show. And yes, I've heard all the jokes... many times.

You could expoxy/ JB weld it to a 30lb cinderblock and leave it outside on the sidewalk and watch people try to pick it up.
Also have a note on it that says " You just got Cinder blocked" or something like that.

Oooh you just gave me an idea. Put it on one of those hidden camera shows and watch how many people walk by before someone steals it. And then you can market the show as something about seeing how honest people are. (now I'm wondering if there is legal way to make it so the people on the show never have any clue that they're being filmed and broadcast on TV (or at least it looks that way so everyone is now afraid that if they do something wrong the whole world might see)).

I would connect the tablet to your home wifi, or your phone hotspot if you don't have a home internet connection, and set it to display time and weather. Hang it on the kitchen wall, or living room, or wherever you want your weather and time displayed on the wall.

That's not hilarious or excessively creative, but it is a really good idea. I'll have to keep that in mind.

I can be hilarious and/or creative, but I'm also a nerd and this is a tablet. I gotta go for practical usefulness. I would still be using a Win98 box with a P2 processor somewhere in my computer setup if I had a viable use for it.

I bought a lower-priced 7" samsung galaxy tablet in 2013 and after about a year I "bricked it" by trying to 'jailbreak' the operating system so I could delete all the default apps that were slowing it down. So I cried a little and then put it in storage... Then in 2017 I came upon it while doing some spring cleaning and just for luck I thought I'd try to do a factory reboot once more (it failed numerous times before I put it in storage)... and it worked! Not only that but the battery still charged and lasted a good long time. It was like getting a brand new tablet. I loaded it up with my mom's favorite songs and she uses it as her music player now. It's great for watching youtube videos too and it gets used every single day. It's been 2 years and it's still going strong. Just saying 'don't give up' on that old tablet. :)

I'm guessing that this is an android tablet. Which version of Android and how much memory (RAM and Storage) does it have?

If it's too old for general purpose work, you can still use it as a dedicated single-use device by installing one app.

...an Alarm Clock on your nightstand with an Alarm Clock app
...a Radar/Weather device with the My Radar app
...a dedicated E-mail checking device
...something to leave on your coffee table with theScore on it to keep track of sports scores

if it's too old for any of that, a doorstop?
