Nope. I disagree. True believers are NOT sinners anymore. We are Children of God learning how to walk.

@NOV25 - It's time to lose the "sinner mentality." We're not perfect, we make mistakes because we're learning. We're imperfect little children learning how to walk by the Spirit so we do NOT fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

God delivered the Israelites from Egypt, but they couldn't stop seeing themselves as "slaves" - the "slave mentality" of Egypt was inside of them. Sinners are slaves to sin; as true born again believers, we are NOT slaves to sin anymore because we have a new nature, a spiritual nature not a sinful nature.

I really don't think God likes it when we call ourselves a "sinner." God does NOT call us a "sinner" anymore, why should we?

Yes, we disobey God when we are not filled with the Holy Spirit because we are resisting, grieving, quenching or neglecting the Gift of the Holy Spirit.

Sinners are NOT saved, they enjoy sinning, they have NO Shepherd. They belong to the god of this world which is Satan - the kingdom of darkness.

True Believers are saved, born again with a new nature - a spiritual nature; we do NOT enjoy sinning, we have a Shepherd. We belong to the Most High God and dwell on this Earth as Children of Light in God's Kingdom of Light.

True Believers stumble over their flesh and fall down trying to walk out this life in Christ. We cannot do it on our own - we have to have the power of the Holy Spirit in us, teaching us to walk, guiding us, correcting us, comforting us, instructing us, giving us understanding of God's Word.

Just press in for the Holy Spirit. Submit to God by yielding to His Holy Spirit. Let the Holy Spirit lead, He wants to teach us how to walk in His power - the power of the Holy Spirit.

How would know this about carnal Christians?

Paul’s process through his struggle with “why” he is still sinning after being saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, he was trying to do God’s Will in his own strength.....found out he couldn’t.

We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit and continually filled with the Holy Spirit.

Carnal Christians are saved but, walking in their flesh hating the sin they are doing.

Spiritual Christians are saved and filled and have learned how to stay continually filled with the Holy Spirit so that they walk by the Spirit and do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh-carnality.

I’m not totally there yet but, I know who has the map - I know who to follow!

Take a look at Romans 7 and 8 again...Paul discovers the way to overcome his carnal flesh.....by the Spirit of God.

This sounds like a reference to Romans 7.

Romans 7 was not about Paul’s struggle with sin.

In Romans 7 Paul is explaining that one in the flesh will always do what he does not want to do.

Then in Romans 8 he tells us that those who are Christ’s are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Hence, a true saved person would not be in the condition of Romans 7.

All who are born again are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Paul is not discovering, he already knows... he is instructing the Christians in Rome.

In Romans 7, we see our problem with sin, which continues for even the mature believer like Paul.

It was exactly because he was a saint that the reality of sin was heightened.
I think if we look at all three chapters ...we see..

The believer has freedom through union with Christ in his death and resurrection (6:1–10), but our bodies don’t yet share Christ’s risen life (6:11). So there is still a slavery in our bodily members (7:23) as we await the redemption of our bodies (8:23).

In summary, we are not sinless yet and carnal Christians have the Holy Spirit they are not living in that reality

And where does the flesh go?

According to scripture you are to mortify the deeds of the body through the Spirit (Romans 8:13) because believers are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit (Romans 8:9) and have crucified the flesh with affections and lusts (Galatians 5:24).

In an extreme case, a sinner may need to be turned over unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh [because he couldn't act as is it was destroyed] that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus (1 Corinthians 5:5).

This is why we need to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and not make provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof (Romans 13:14) and we should put off the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts and be renewed in the spirit of our mind (Ephesians 4:22-23) because except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).

If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away (2 Corinthians 5:17); for the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth...the Father seeketh such to worship him (John 4:23).

Those that are sensual, having not the Spirit, are described in Jude. Take heed that you are not one of them.

I believe that one of the main problems in discussing sin is that there are two ways of speaking about it. There are sinful actions, which some call "stumbling", and there is the state of willful rebellion against God's way of salvation. A humble person who is surrendered to Jesus will repent when he stumbles and will not let the sun go down upon his wrath. The proud man will carry a rebellious attitude around and not acknowledge that he does commit sinful actions from time to time. Confession is not a one time thing. We must maintain a humble spirit before our Maker. We only get to heaven when God sees the Blood is applied to the doorpost of our hearts. We will not attain perfection until the day of glorification. That is why we need to be covered by the blood.

The blood on the door posts of the Israelites (Exodus 12:13) did them no good when they continued rebelling against Moses and God in the wilderness. For by Numbers 14:11 God was going to disinherit them from entering the promised land and instead make of Moses a greater nation and mightier than them.

Just like believers are warned not to sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth because there was going to be a certain fearful looking to of judgment and fiery indignation (which is going to devour the adversaries) if they did so. (Hebrews 10:26-27).

It does not come by the quart ...but it would be good it it did!

Another phenomenon to consider:
A born again child of God loathes their sin. They cry tears of true repentance and beg the Father for the strength to resist and conquer their old nature.

The unsaved professors really could care less.....And it shows.

Paul made a very bold statement concerning his present status.
The term "I am" in te Greek is very clear.

Well, @EleventhHour - I understand what you're saying but, it's not totally correct.

Not all believers are FILLED with the Holy Spirit. However, ALL believers are SEALED with the Holy Spirit of Promise when they believe and are saved.

The BAPTISM with the Holy Spirit is the FIRST TIME a believer is FILLED with the Holy Spirit - this is the empowering of the Holy Spirit to be an effective witness of Jesus Christ. Scriptures open up, God's love erupts in your heart, spiritual awakening with dreams, visions, encounters with God, absolutely wonderful, and desire for God and His Word can get pretty intense.

Unfortunately, being FILLED with the Holy Spirit can dwindle - like a roaring fire to smoldering coals - this happens when we resist, quench, grieve or neglect the Holy Spirit.

We need to learn how to be CONTINUALLY FILLED with the Holy Spirit. Passionately HOT with fervent love for God, others and ourselves in a healthy way that is pleasing to God and unquenchable.

God's plan is to save our spirit, soul and body.

Our spirit is quickened by the Holy Spirit to see and understand the gift of Salvation in Christ alone - His Blood and Body by faith in Christ's finished work - it's our spirit that receives the faith to believe in Christ. Our human reasoning cannot receive faith which is Truth made known to us by God.

Our soul is to be restored by the renewing of our mind which transforms us into the image of Christ - line upon line, precept upon precept, little by little able to discern the perfect will of God. This is when the Holy Spirit becomes our Teacher and feeds us the Word of God with understanding. Understanding the Word of God comes from the Holy Spirit, not human reasoning.

Our body is to be redeemed by the Holy Spirit at the resurrection when Christ returns to the Earth because the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead will also raise us up and we will be like Him (Christ).

Man has been busy teaching us doctrines and all we really need is the Holy Spirit to teach us the Word of God but, don't take my word for it. Go ask the Father about His Promise of the Holy Spirit, unless you think you already know...........

Does God call us "sinners" AFTER we are saved? What's the point of that?!

The flesh remains in the soul and body but, is no longer in our spirits.

In Adam - ALL die because they are born with a "sinful nature" with corruptible seed.

In Christ - ALL live because they are born with a "spiritual nature" with incorruptible seed.

The more our minds are renewed with the Holy Spirit teaching us the Word of God - line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little - this is the process of restoring our soul - growing up and maturing in Christ - being able to know the perfect Will of God.

As children of God we desire to obey God, however we're not mature yet. It's more like "learning how to WALK."

You can call yourself a "sinner" all you want, I'm not going to call you that or me that! We're children of God learning how to walk.

1 Timothy 1:13-15
[13] Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. [14] And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. [15] This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Paul is obviously communicating that he was a sinner and wanted to show other sinners that if he, who was a chief sinner, could be saved, how much more any other current sinners. To suggest that Paul is saying that he continues to be a chief sinner after his conversion is foolish and mind boggling.

Yes, @oyster67 - there are 2 kinds of sin:

1 - Sin that is unto death => sinner
2 - Sin that is NOT unto death => believer learning how to walk by the Spirit
