calling the Catholic Church (CC) the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) was a pejorative term
that's interesting, I didn't know that.

isn't there something called the Roman rite? or am I thinking of the Latin rite?

The first known occurrence of "Roman Catholic" as a synonym for "Catholic Church" was in communication with the Armenian Apostolic Church in 1208, after the East–West Schism... long before the Reformation.
That's interesting, where did you read that?

So you believe muslim true God is Christian true God?
I didn't say that, I said that I think Muslims think that they worship the true God.

like you said, we have to calculate the end result, not interprate letter by letter.

So Paul, standing in the middle of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To an unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you (Acts 17:22-23)
Paul told the Athenians that the unknown god they were worshipping was the one true God.
I've noticed that sometimes people will adopt an "all or nothing" style of thinking.

that thinking leads to the conclusion that a person must worship God completely and with full knowledge or that person is worshiping a false god.

sometimes a person engaged in this style of thinking perceives themselves to be taking a firm stand for the truth.

but the people of Athens and the larger Greek culture did have some knowledge and experience of God, else why does Paul quote their poets?

as you noted, Paul says,
"What therefore you worship in ignorance, this I announce to you."

Paul is going to announce to them the true God, and he says that's what they are already worshiping in ignorance.

granted, in addition to worshipping God, they were also worshipping false gods and had many misconceptions about what God wanted.

There are about 23 Rites in the Catholic Church, the biggest of which is the Latin or Roman rite.
Thus you may find a church (congregation) called the xxxx Roman Catholic Church because it belongs to the Roman rite.
You may find a church (congregation) called Syro-Malabar Catholic Church or Coptic Catholic Church.
But they all belong to the Catholic Church with Pope Francis as head.

Many of these are churches that broke away from the Catholic Church at the Great Schism but have since returned.
They have different liturgical practices.

Paul told the Athenians that the unknown god they were worshipping was the one true God.
Paul told them they were a step ahead of worshiping a statue.
Building on what they had right, yet I am sure they needed the Gospel to be saved.

You know pitting scripture against scripture is not good.

I hear what you're saying, and certainly to worship God in spirit and in truth, a person must go through Jesus.

but I think it is possible for a person to worship that which they don't know
John 4:22 You worship that which you don't know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
Yes they can.....but salvation is from the Jews >>> Jesus

Isn't that similar to iron sharpening iron?

Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
I do not think so... iron sharpens iron...... strengthens/sharpens both

Pitting scripture against scripture ......I see more like trying to override the truth of one scripture by referencing another.

I agree with you. Iron sharpening iron would only apply if the scriptures that were presented complement each other than attempting to negate each other. Learned something new today that was spiritually edyfing.

I would say that even today the man of sin (aka Pope) has not yet been revealed. For you and most others do not see it.
That’s because his coming is with great signs and wonders and we have seen no pope do that.
I don’t doubt one of the pope’s will be the false prophet but the beast is entirely different who receives worship on account of the miracles the false prophet performs and the image of the beast he erects...

Revelation 13:12-15 NKJV
[12] And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. [13] He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. [14] And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. [15] He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

They think but not, so you still believe true God is trinity or you not sure?

absolutely!

and this is something that I was trying to get across in post after post earlier in this thread.
participating in the worship of God is not the same as achieving salvation.

I may misunderstood you, don't you Said antichrist is pope and rule for 42 month end in 1240.?
The Roman empire is the beast that lasted for 42 months (rev 13) or which is the same time, times and half a time (Daniel 7). The roman empire fell in 1204 AD and never recovered.
Anti-christ originally rose from the Roman Empire and was the Roman Emperor (from 49 to 27 BC) until Constantine the Great (around 330 AD) established the Roman Church and appointed the Roman Pontiff. At this time around 330AD the anti-christ transferred from being the Roman Emperor to being the Roman Pontiff and from 330AD all the way to today the Pontiff has been the antichrist.

Follow what I am saying?

Great signs and wonders have been performed on behalf of Roman Catholic Church, with the Popes involved and claiming authority over it. Read everything at Wikipedia, it is truly remarkable. This is Fulfillment of Rev 13:13

If one scripture appears to contradict another they should be harmonised.
The first thing is not to add to scripture as your did in post #1916.

Here is what i think.
Acts 17:22-23 shows that people can search and find God even though they do not know Jesus.

Jesus says in John 14:6: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me."
Here I think Jesus is saying that no-one can know God as Father except through him. When we become Christians we become children of God (John 1:12). We become born of God (vs 13), brothers and sisters of Jesus.

Constantine the Great did NOT establish the Roman Church.
Nor did he appoint the Roman Pontiff.
Nor is the Pope the antichrist.

Are you SDA? They go in for that nonsense.
Curious?
