My Grandfather was Presbyter of Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ and Independent. My Mother was raised in the United Pentecostal Church. My Father preached in all of the Pentecostal Organizations. My wife I met in the Assemblies of God Pentecostal. And I have many good friends from the Church of God Pentecostal. I have several cousins who are Pastors in all I have mentioned Pentecostal.
What does your father say about millions of years ?

It's somewhat accurate if they test on the spot like ancient fire damage. But you unearth bones, take them to a lab, put them in a sterile and air controlled environment, you might as well just make up any number you desire.
You can look at Mt St Hellens and blow all the dating tests out of the water .. They performed all kinds of radiometric dating tests on the new formed rock there and the results were embarrassing for scientist from the known age of 40yrs old new formed rock vs the ''scientific age'' .. Then in the beginning the frozen polonium halos in granite and earth created/formed out of the water proves earth was never molten or needed to be cooled for any amount of time but 24 hrs day wins again .., the Polonium halos 1/2 life is so short they would have escaped from molten rock almost instantly

If you've never seen a video by Dr James Tour he dares any scientist to debate him on the possibility of life just evolving , the best I've ever seen .. And he also by using nano carbons has discovered how to reattach severed spinal cords and paralysis cured, also discovery to convert all waste plastic to nano carbon sheets . And he's a Jew on fire for Jesus .. Remarkable man You tube it ,it will be worth your while .. Mary Swchitzer claims she is a Christian but she values her job

Evolution is only a Theory. For as many proofs they claim, there are equally that and more holes in their proofs. Modern day Biologists have made claims that old timers just accepted Darwin's word and never really did much to advance the study. They never actually tested a Theory to see if it worked, they literally thought Darwin did all of the work and that was good enough. Turns out, there literally millions of unanswered questions in Evolution and if you've notice, they are keeping quiet today. The newer Biologists have seen where dead end after dead end have led to no proofs at all. They are scrambling and behind the 8-ball. You used to see many debates of Creation vs Evolution. Not any more. They are finding more proofs Evolution does not work than it does. And Science does not want that information getting out.

He would say, God is before everything. We don't know how long He waited before deciding to Create the Universe and life structures. Therefore, even if we do not agree with Billions of years Theories, that does not mean God has not been around for quadzillion years. He would emphasize that a number is just that, because ultimately to God, our big numbers are minute to Him.

They still believe it they just can't deal with the opposition anymore , we got blind sided now we've got back up and fought back .. And I'm yo huckleberry concerning old earth now .. It may be a theory but it has damned millions of Christians to hell and now the old agers are doing the same, people who believe evolution is true and still being taught as true are complicit with old age creation and they sit in the seats of mockers with them .. Let's suppose you get by with it what about the folks who say millions of years use that excuse to disregard God altogether and I've been in discussions with Atheists then a couple liberal educated ''christians'' chime in to sooth them, and say don't listen to him he doesn't know what he's talking about but they can't answer either .. Do you see what I mean.. I don't plan on standing before Jesus saying ''but I thought'', I'm gonna say ''because you said so'' right here in Genesis 1

Actually Adam was created on the 6th day and was placed in a garden God had created and Adam was given the first law ,yet on the 6th day He created man male and female He created them with instruction to subdue the earth and provisions what they were given to eat .. It's possible there were more than Adam and Eve but if so Adam and Eve were the only one in relationship with God .. remember ''for Adam no suitable helpmate was found'' .. Eve was/is the mother of all the living
Eve was deceived 😐

God is eternal and not subject to time in the first place however in the beginning began time as we know it for physical creation and will continue until the End of time which is near .. The End is near

In this post above the keyword is ''suitable'' .. If male and female were created on the 6th day while Adam was created unique to know God in His Garden and first Law then perhaps Adam simply couldn't find the perfect female for him , everything else was perfect and provided for him .. Eve was created specifically for Adam from Adam , so I surmise she was the perfect mate and had the same features as Adam except female ''bone of his bone and flesh'' .. Not too smart, too dumb ,big, skinny, too anything to blame his sin on her , she was perfect for him and him for her .. This tells me incest was to not in play and the mankind (just as much man) outside the garden would have provided mates for all outside the Garden without incest .. First cousins were the closest allowed by Jewish law .. Cain got kicked out and was afraid some one would kill him and he also took a wife imo in Nod where he built a city .. This would also perhaps explain diversity of races and sizes of peoples .. What are there 3-4 distinctive races classified today and Noah ,his sons wives would have been daughters of men and mixed pretty well by the time of the Ark .. Adam and Eve are the first imo and through Noah we all come , every genetic possibility come from 8 on the Ark we see today and traced paternally back to Adam and even Eve through to Jesus .. Adam and Eve had no mother or grandmother .. Mitochondrial Eve and Y Chromosome Adam proves the beginning about 6000 yrs ago .. Those who say Africans were first by a couple 100000 yrs is BS .. Africans alleged mutation rate if true is due to harsher environment and tougher living condition causing unhealthy harmful mutation that would give appearance of age genetically ..
Everything fits the Word of God perfect to me . All DNA was created the 6th day and original kinds .. There are no good mutations or information added to DNA , only loss of information or bred to isolate particular traits to adapt in particular environments .. Adam was created with more DNA information that he ever needed but he was created with DNA with us in mind to each be unique .. God says He knows the number of hairs on our head and he knew when He first or before He created Man and his DNA ..
On a sidenote Ishmael and his mother got kicked out by Sarah but Ishmael was probably 15-17 at the time and not a baby .. Esau married one on Ismaels daughters and Ishmael and other of Abrahams sons buried Abraham so apparently they all knew and lived within reasonable reach of each other .. Isaac was the first born to Abraham .. Abram fathered Ishmael a few years before Isaac, before he became Abraham

Gen 1:6 ויאמר אלהים יהי רקיע בתוך המים ויהי מבדיל בין מים למים׃ (Masoretic Text)

Gen. 1:6. And God said, “Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” (NRSV)

Genesis 1:6 Then God said, “Let there be a dome in the middle of the waters, to separate one body of water from the other.” (NAB)

Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. (KJV)

Genesis 1:6. Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”

(Septugint)

Gen 1:6 dixit quoque Deus fiat firmamentum in medio aquarum et dividat aquas ab aquis (Latin Vulgate)

Are chapters 1-11 in Genesis an accurate historical account? In Genesis 1:6, we read that God created a רקיע in the midst of the waters to separate the waters from the waters. But…what is a רקיע? It is something that has been expanded as in a lump of copper that has been beaten to expand it and form it into a dish. The Greek translation of רקיע, στερέωμα, expresses the concept of a strong solid structural support. The Latin translation of רקיע, firmamentum, also expresses the concept of a strong solid structural support. The English translation of רקיע, firmament found in the KJV and some subsequent translations, also expressed the concept of a strong solid structural support—but the church, for obvious reasons, invented, out of thin air, a new meaning of the word. The NASB, and many other translations, opted for the translation “expanse.”

Genesis 1-11 is written in a genre of writing that is not found anywhere else in the Bible, and consequently Genesis 1-11 is very often studied today as a distinct unit of Scripture. A very similar genre of writing is used in epic tales, sagas, myths, and legends. So we ask, did God choose tell us the creation story clothed in the cultural beliefs of the ancient Hebrews, or is the word רקיע simply misunderstood by modern Christians?

When Christians falsely and maliciously misrepresent what others have written in order to defend their own position when their own position is indefensible strongly supports the opinion of many that Christians are not only intellectually inferior and culturally depraved, but also lack a sense of morality and human decency.

Genesis 1:6. And God said, “Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
7. So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so.
8. God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. (NRSV)

Genesis 1:6. And God said, “Let there be an atmosphere in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
7. So God made the atmosphere and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so.
8. God called the atmosphere Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

The Bible is the word of God, and to mutilate it is a horrific act of disrespect toward God.

20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
Gen. 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. (KJV 1769 as posted above)

Gen 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring foorth aboundantly the mouing creature that hath life, and foule that may flie aboue the earth in the open firmament of heauen. (KJV as it was originally published in 1611)

Gen 1:20. And God said, “Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky.” (NRSV)

That the translation in the NRSV is the correct translation can be proved from very many sources—including Colossians 2:5,

2:5. For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, and I rejoice to see your morale and the firmness of your faith in Christ. (NRSV)

The word “firmness” in this verse is the correct translation of the Greek noun στερέωμα “where , it signifies something solid or compact, such as the foundation of a building. It naturally came to signify not the object, but the quality which characterizes it—firmness or hardness. So that it here points out that feature in the faith of the Colossians which specially commended it to the notice and eulogy of the apostle, to wit, its unyielding nature, or the stiffness of its adherence to its one object-Christ.” (John Eadie in his commentary on the Greek text of Colossians.) And the Greek noun στερέωμα is the very Greek noun used in the Septuagint to translate the Hebrew word רָקִיעַ used in Genesis 1:20 (and Gen. 1:6-8, etc.).

Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you—Moses, in whom you trust. For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?” (John 5:45-47). In this passage, Jesus makes it clear that one must believe what Moses wrote. And one of the passages in the writings of Moses in Exodus 20:11 states: “For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.” This, of course, is the basis of our seven-day week—six days work and one day rest. Obviously, this passage was meant to be taken as speaking of a total of seven literal days based on the Creation week of six literal days of work and one literal day of rest.

John 5:43. “I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; if another comes in his own name, you will accept him.
44. How can you believe when you accept glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the one who alone is God?
45. Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; your accuser is Moses, on whom you have set your hope.
46. If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.
47. But if you do not believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?” (NRSV)

Gen. 3:15. “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” (NRSV)
Gen. 49:10. The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until tribute comes to him; {Or [until Shiloh comes] or [until he comes to Shiloh] or (with Syr) [until he comes to whom it belongs]} and the obedience of the peoples is his. (NRSV)
Genesis 49:10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs; and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples. (RSV)
Deut. 18:18. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their own people; I will put my words in the mouth of the prophet, who shall speak to them everything that I command.

In John 5:19-47, Jesus is speaking to “the (disbelieving) Jews”, and he tells them, “If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But if you do not believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?” These disbelieving Jews held Moses in extremely high regard, and Jesus “reminds” them that Moses wrote about Him. He did not say nor imply that they (or anyone else!) needed to “believe what Moses wrote” –for the Jews did believe what Moses wrote. Jesus did say, however, “Do not be astonished at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and will come out—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.”

Always consider the audience. In your case I would suggest NOT using the short convenient words like hermeneutics in the bible study.

These words enhance communication among those who are familiar with them but they hinder communication with those who are not.
Words are coined to express concepts, and when expressing those concepts—those words should be used. If anyone attending a Bible study is not familiar with the word hermeneutics, it is time for them to learn the word—and to learn it CORRECTLY!

hermeneutics plural in form but singular or plural in construction : the study of the methodological principles of interpretation (as of the Bible)

Jesus did not use those kind of words. But rather teaches us to walk by His faith working in us revealing His will

We walk by the Spirit that works in us . Words like "walk" (to understand) should be defined to new believers . Or words like prophecy or apostle. Many false doctrine arise because of the meaning of one word has been changed . not walking by the faith of Christ that indwells the believer.

Changing the meaning of the words would make the gospel without effect. Helps us understand if we are walking by faith understanding God not seen.

Walking is used that way throughout. The parable of the lame walking represent the unbelievers having no understanding as faithless prior to. Rise, hearing the gospel giving the power to understand. Ears to hear his understanding as two walking togethter in agreement ..

It would appear the metaphor (walk) was first used in the garden .This is when the most beautiful of all the messengers was made lame. On you belly crawl. Taking away the ability to make lame those who have not faith of Christ working in them .

Walk by faith the unseen eternal understanding. Then we will not have to crawl in the dust that was shook off the feet of the apostles.
