Jeremiah uses the word three times. Twice in the KJV it is translated "watch" and once "hasten". Most all the other translations use the word "watch". Hasten would imply that God is quick to do what He says. What God says He is going to do, He does. That is why they have books on the promises of God so we can claim them. In the Hebrew the first letter sets the pace for a word and the first letter here is symbolic for teeth - meaning to consume or devour. The last letter indicates to complete or finish. To bring to an end. God declares the end from the beginning. Jesus is the alpha and the omega, the first and the last.
Jeremiah 1:12

NAS: well, for I am watching over
KJV: seen: for I will hasten my word
INT: have seen for I am watching I over
Jeremiah 5:6
HEB: יְשָׁדְדֵ֔ם נָמֵ֤ר שֹׁקֵד֙ עַל־ עָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם
NAS: them, A leopard is watching their cities.
KJV: them, a leopard shall watch over their cities:
INT: will destroy A leopard is watching and their cities
Jeremiah 44:27
HEB: הִנְנִ֨י שֹׁקֵ֧ד עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם לְרָעָ֖ה
NAS: Behold, I am watching over
KJV: Behold, I will watch over them for evil,
INT: behold I am watching over evil
