I went for a Saturday morning scroll through the corridors of my thoughts.
Writing...a joy, a cathartic way to dig into the scrumptious deliciousness of my Lord.
You know as I reflect back, I notice a pattern that once in awhile still has its tendencies to surface. I have gone down so many ways of destruction in my life… sex, drugs, alcohol, you name it, seeking ways to ease my restless and broken spirit.
I have sought out via chat rooms, games on my phone, netflix binging and on and on, looking for ways to ease the ugh of my unsatisfied heart.
Lately, He has provided me work to fill my time and to ease my burdens and still on some nights, I am neither satisfied with my table for one status, or anything else. I feel lonely and bored…
However, this morning as I was getting my home ready for a morning client, I decided to listen to His word.
Wow, He did it again….
This world was not intended to ensure peace and joy. Anything we pursue, especially in excess, to fill our time, to preoccupy our minds, to satisfy our fleshly desires will only leave us dissatisfied. He tells us in the word clearly, and in our hearts and minds, seeking Him is the only way.
If only I'd seek Him instead of the many buffers and distractions of this world, if only I would quiet the chatter of this world and of the desire to be entertained or accepted by anything or anyone, I'd find so much contentment that before I knew it, the Joy of the Lord would not, could not, be contained.
He even tells us... to practice to be quiet, to mind our own affairs, and to work diligently with our hands.
We are so blessed in Him, and no matter what this world is up to, it should never, not ever, rise above the One who created this place in which we dwell. This time on earth is but a blip in the big scheme of things...
He is where it all starts and ends.
So today let's all do our part be kind to one another, extend His mercy, in thought and action, to everyone, listen to one another, care about one another. Let's not even think poorly and critically, let alone speak poorly, of anyone, especially those we say we love...
Btw, we are called to love ALL!!!
Most importantly let's take time to think on Him, to be with Him, and to bring Him that dwells within into every aspect of our lives, including our thoughts and emotions.
Lord...in You I find my hope and all good things... because of You, my heart is glad.
You are the best part of waking up!!!
