The word according takes us back to verse 3.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
One blessing is the "He chose US in Him before the foundation of the world." What is the direct object of the the clause "God chose us"?

I'll come back later to see if you all have figured out what is the direct object of the verb "to chose".

According to your theory, God chose us to be in Christ before the foundation of the world, we fell out of Christ at the fall, and then got back into Christ upon believing the gospel.🤦‍♂️

“us”

Without the word according, the verse wouldn’t make sense.
It makes perfect sense. God has blessed us with all spiritual blessing according to the fact that He chose US before the foundation of the world. You can't get around it. It is as clear as the light of day what the verse is saying. That's why you can't explain what it means, because you're not willing to accept what it means.

Next verse. 6 And because you ARE sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, [b]“Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir [c]of God [d]through Christ.

This is talking about sonship in the context of ADOPTION, and the very next verse states it as a present reality.

It's just like we ALREADY HAVE eternal life, but have not entered into the full expression of it yet, which will come at the glorification.
Are sons . Through the new birth not Adoption. Rom 8.23 . We await the adoption .
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the MANIFESTATION OF !!!!! the sons of God.

Don't jump to Romans. Stay with the immediete context first. We're talking about Galatians 4. The immediete context is about ADOPTION. Verse 5. Can you explain Romans 4:5-6

5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might recieve the adoption of sons.
It’s like many things

we are adopted, we will be adopted

we are sanctified we are being sanctified we will be samctified

we are redeemed, we await the redemption...

So did God personally foreknow us? If yes, what does that mean?
God knows all things . What do you mean what does it mean ?

the elect is the church , the church are those who accept the gospel whether Jew or gentile There is nothing God doesn’t know I’m not sure what your asking all Foreknowledge means is God knows the end even from the beginning there’s nothing he doesn’t know . It doesn’t change anything in scripture though it’s a just a point about God that he’s not ignorant of any matter to come or on the past .

it doesn’t remove our role because God knows who will accept Christ and be saved .

The elect is the church

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:12-16‬ ‭

see how even though the church is the elect they are being instructed ? The proof of his foreknowledge is prophecy he was always foretelling Christ and the church . I’m not sure what the difference if God knee before makes is what I’m saying it doesn’t mean he saves us against our will or we have no choice it just means God knows the outcome beforehand

Can you see any blessings given here ? or are they given after we believe.
Eph 2
11¶Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Does the scripture say "whom God foreknew, He predestined. And Who He predestined, He called. And who He called He justified, and who he justified, He glorified. " Does this not mean that foreknowledge as used in scripture is connected to predestination, calling, justification, and glorification in the sense that if one is accomplished in a person, they all will be accomplished?

Is Romans 8:28-30 talking about individuals or a faceless mass of people that God doesn't know.

You can't explain it, because you can't accept what it says.

SO you ignore it.

What is the direct object of the clause "God chose us" in Ephesians 1:4?

It shouldn't be hard. You only have three words to choose from

PS. as to the last paragraph, it is not what we affirm. We do not say God saves us against our will. Not even Calvinists say that.

Our destination is to be conformed to the image of Jesus. That occurs at the future adoption of sons, the redemption of the body.
Forknown, predestined, called, justified, glorified...clear order here.

Why do you put justification BEFORE predestination? Paul doesn't. I say this because you say one is not predestined until they are saved. But that would mean that one is not predestined until they are justified, in direct opposition to Paul's words.

What else do you call the redemption of the body . The bible calls this ' The Adoption ' . So the Apodtion IS the redemption of the body . This is what the bible calls it .

Any one who had no exposure to theology would ever read Ephesians 1 the way the calvinstic reader does .
