Basically all the commandments and traditions that God commanded the Jews to do in the OT were to keep their salvation it was about works not merely having faith in him like we are blessed enough to have.
They had salvation but had to have strict obedience it was a heavy yoke on them, God knew they could not fully keep his commandments because man is not perfect and he promised a savior from Davids blood line but if they had eternal salvation simply by believing in the OT then what was this savior saving them from?

The bible is divided into the OT and NT for a reason we have to learn to rightly divide the word to understand the scriptures better, the holy spirit and the blood of Christ added his grace unto them they no longer had to work for their salvation only believe and be saved this was the premise of the new covenant. David was perhaps the best representation of the new covanent in the old testament he had an actual bond and relationship with God but he also did all the things that were commanded in that time yet until Jesusu came no one had eternal salvation being sealed by his spirit forever and ever
No one was ever saved or maintained their salvation by keeping the law

Moses states equivocally that they
Must obey ever word. Whoever did
Not obey every word was cursed. (See also GAL 3 Where Paul confirms this and states this is why No person was ever justified by the law )

If God approved if their faith they had eternal life. The Only think missing was the payment as Christ did Not die yet

Hello @eternally-gratefull,

Look at the Hall of Faith in Hebrews regarding the OT Believers........ they all died "in faith" believing yet not having obtained the promise which was that there will be a "Seed of the woman"........ a virgin will conceive...... the Anointed One is coming..... The Christ....... The Messiah..... The King of Kings and Lord of Lords.... Abraham's children will be uncountable because they are so many.....

Even with all this FAITH....... NOTHING was obtainable UNTIL Jesus Christ rose from the dead. AFTER Jesus Christ rose from the dead, other OT Believers also rose from the dead and were seen by people.

Matthew 27:52-53 King James Version (KJV)
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

BEFORE Jesus Christ died, buried, and rose from the dead....the disciples believed He had come to set up His Kingdom on the Earth now.......

His disciples did NOT fully understand the Gift of Salvation until AFTER Jesus Christ rose from the dead and appeared to them...then, they could be SEALED because they fully BELIEVED and understood - Jesus Christ opened up their understanding by breathing on them and saying, "Receive the Holy Spirit."

When Jesus breathed on his disciples in John 20:22, He SEALED them with the Holy Spirit just like He SEALS all of us that believe also, with the Holy Spirit.

However, the BAPTISM with the Holy Spirit is an empowering moment - absolutely wonderful! You literally know you are COMPLETELY POSSESSED and FILLED with God's Holy Spirit!!! 100% FILLED.

Yet, like a cellphone...... we don't get to stay at 100% UNLESS we learn how to get recharged......we need to plug in by going away from the world and all the chaos to be alone with God...... singing sweet love songs to Him, talking to Him sweetly, like a lover.......reading the scriptures, meditating on them, praying for our enemies, fellowshipping with God, and other Believers.

I've learned to take advantage of EVERY SINGLE TIME I am alone (while driving, while laying in my bed about to go to sleep, waking up..... a lot of times I have to make the time to be alone with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit but, I take advantage of EVERY time I am alone.

I ONLY listen to praise and worship music, audio bible...... I'm just constantly plugging in and trying to stay charged!(y)
This is a very long post can you shorten it some I do not have time to really dig into it

I will just say in Gen 3:15 Abraham believed and it was accounted ir imputes to him as righteousness. The same righteousness imputes to him is
Imputed to us. God is outside of time the death of Christ was as assured as David would be a future prince. Man did not see it but God knew it. And remember also. David as a young lad was considered a man after Gods heart

Their salvation was as assured as
Mine is. As you said in Hebrews. The difference is they did
Not see it because it had
Not yet happened to me it is past

And if it was only by faith then why did Christ have to die for sin? Because he established the covenant of eternal life before hand everyone had to obey the law and make blood sacrifices this is in essence works
And yes Paul did say that but this was also when the new covenant was established Jesus took the place of the law and the blood sacrifice

Sorry for my long posts... :giggle::love:

I will just say in Gen 3:15 Abraham believed and it was accounted ir imputes to him as righteousness. The same righteousness imputes to him is imputed to us.
In Genesis 3:15, God is speaking about the "Seed of the woman" that will crush the serpents head which we know the Seed is Jesus Christ and the serpent is Satan.

True, Abraham did believe ALL of God's promises and it was accounted to him as righteousness - the righteousness that comes by faith, not works.

Abraham died "in faith" believing God to be faithful yet, having not OBTAINED the promises.

God is outside of time the death of Christ was as assured as David would be a future prince. Man did not see it but God knew it.

And remember also. David as a young lad was considered a man after Gods heart. Their salvation was as assured as Mine is.

As you said in Hebrews. The difference is they did not see it because it had not yet happened to me it is past
It gets tricky here because we need to understand differences between the realms - Heavenly, Spiritual, and Physical.

Salvation existed the moment the Lamb of God was slain BEFORE the foundation of the world in the Heavenly Realm yet, it could NOT be OBTAINED in the Physical Realm until Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead.

All the OT saints died in the Physical Realm not yet OBTAINING the promise because NOTHING was obtainable UNTIL Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Their salvation was assured but, not yet obtainable.

We'll die in faith believing Jesus Christ will return to the Earth in the Physical Realm yet, it will not be obtainable until He does.

Hope this helped and made sense to you!(y)

Your not getting it,

the requirement of the law was never breaking one command, even James said anyone who keeps the whole law yet stumbles in one point is guilty, no one who ever lived, but Christ, fulfilled that requirement, that’s why we all need saved,

if Christ did not die, your faith would be useless. Because you would have nothing viable to have faith in.

i am about sick of spell check on my phone, I did not type genesis 3: 15, I typed Gen 15, and did not check, sorry about that, this is what is, talking about

Gen 15: 6 And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

True, Abraham did believe ALL of God's promises and it was accounted to him as righteousness - the righteousness that comes by faith, not works.

yes, but he was as saved as you and I are, which was my point

again, abraham was just as saved as you and I are, abraham did not receive his inheritance because the amortize had not yet become unsalable, but his salvation was just as secure as ours, it could not be lost. They were not saved by law

Aw, forget about it, I did. Having a dislocated knee, being in pain, not having a car and staying indoors since February + not seeing my family and watching all of the bad news with my fellow tenants. (patients) Has gotten me quite grumpy.

One of my housemates kidney punched another one, who is in a walker (last week). I spent most of today helping to file a police report & charges + getting a restraining order. I went to one courthouse twice. Two sheriffs departments and another courthouse as well. (Today.)(The elevators and restrooms were closed as well.)

I'm a little edgy, and sore. I'm way overdue for a nap. I'll just try to do the next right thing. I ain't perfect just forgiven. I'll cool my (cylinder) head.

Hello again Roger, just think......

Jesus Christ chose Judas and knew he was a devil, so what?! None of the other disciples knew Judas was a devil until John asked Jesus at the last supper who would betray Jesus.

So, it's safe to say that our Lord Jesus Christ knows EXACTLY whose are His and those that are NOT and it's really NOTuptome (lol! :giggle: yes, pun intended!) to try to figure it all out unless Jesus Christ wants to tell us but, come on......really?! Who cares?!

I'm following Jesus Christ, absolutely enjoying the indwelling and fellowship of the Holy Spirit and loving God and people.

Stop with all the judging and being critical - go back to your first love......go back and focus on loving Jesus Christ and let Him baptize you with the Holy Spirit.........may you enjoy your journey! God bless your understanding with ears to hear and eyes to see, in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.(y)
You are teaching complete nonsense. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit the instant I believed into Christ. I have been filled with the Holy Spirit more times than I can count. None of my blessing in the Lord over the years has been anything like the lollipop nonsense you espouse.

Scripturally speaking being filled with the Spirit is being filled with the Word of God. This evidence is not readily apparent in what you write.

i am thinking you make sense.

it's easy to get caught up in dogmas and doctrines we make up ourselves or that others teach us but experience doesn't always match up. that should make us question our beliefs.

salvation has never been tricky....as someone said (not you)

3I am afraid, however, that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may be led astray from your simple and pure devotion to Christ. 4For if someone comes and proclaims a Jesus other than the One we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit than the One you received, or a different gospel than the one you accepted, you put up with it way too easily. what a joke. You use the word of God out of context to attack those you disagree with. What a terrible thing to do. You have no biblical refute of her opinion just an insult. YOU need to go. You are a troll. and frankly a very rude person. For some time you have walked the line to ensure you did not cross but I think you have. many of your buddies were banned because of that. They stalked those with who they disagree. You did not provide Biblical points, instead, you attack with the word of God. Shame on you.

you just attack those who have experienced differently than yours. It is not one who is saying you have not the Holy Spirit. That is a false narrative you and those like you created to attack the Context of the Empowering of the Holy Spirit. It has been explained to you many times over. YET the troll that you continue to lie and make false statements over and over. You need to go.

If you would actually read what she wrote you would see that she is expressing a need for me to experience a biblically false second blessing. That is heresy which is taught by apostacy.

No matter how many times you explain an error it will never become truth. The fruit of a corrupted gospel can only be corrupt.

Hey notuotome better heed the warning to go.
After all CS1 is a moderator.

I really find it sad that a rep of this site would use such language toward those who post things he does not like.

After all CS1 is a moderator.

I really find it sad that a rep of this site would use such language toward those who post things he does not like.

What I don't like is those who are bullies to those who are new or have made mistakes pertain to their Biblical understanding.

Many here think it is their sole duty to attack people who have made mistakes. I am not saying you have to agree with what you see as biblical error I'm saying you do not have to name call and attack their character which Notuotome does often. And I will tell you too, I have never banned anyone for disagreeing with me but I have made many recommendations for banning that Admin has seen as bannable. Please don't think that my language is wrong when you give a pass to your friend who has come to threads for the sole purpose to cause division. Notuptome attacked this person With " Your opinion not validated in God's word. " then used scripture to validate his attack. I called him on it. Because he is a bully. If you do not like it I'm sorry you don't. The last thing you said was You were not going to comment on this thread but you are ultra-sensitive too, because you could not prove your point Biblically in the thread got mad and told everyone you were taking your ball home. Many of you seek to attack those who you think have less Biblical knowledge than you do. and your arrogance and pride is most telling. Hypocrites and self-righteous Pharisees.
