Wow. Such a long screed, just because I said you should phrase the OP a different way.

I shudder to think how long the post would have been if I had actually insulted you.

I still say you should try phrasing things different. "You attract more flies with honey than with vinegar" you know. If you tried a different way you might get better results.
One of the reasons I wrote the thread title and OP the way I did was to allow the title to be 'reused'. So, if anyone wanted to add their own 'extension' to the title - they could - making the thread multipurpose as far as the title is concerned.

You could post this:

"... to phrase things differently in the OP of the threads they start."

:)

...how to quote other posts in a thread without destroying the quote. :p

It really is not that difficult, folks!

It just takes a little bit of care... (y)

Please try to maintain the QUOTE structure.

Thank you. :)
One of my "favorites" is when someone puts what they are trying to say within the quote and it looks like a blank post. I was going to do it as an example but I actually very much don't like that. I guess I can do my own example.

See, I didn't actually say this (except I am now ha) but I am replying to the above poster as a device to display how this happens...so if any of you see a new member and there is just your quote. Make sure you click expand to see what they wrote and check for any changes :)
Oh and as far as quoting in between. You copy and paste the quote = username, post: 1337, member: 2 and then make sure you add the end quote
and then type what you are replying to and then do the same thing again to separate each thought you are replying to.

For example....

Hey, how is everyone this evening?

far as quoting in between.
Mhmm.

You copy and paste the quote = username, post: 1337, member: 2 and then make sure you add the end quote.
Gotcha.

and then type what you are replying to and then do the same thing again to separate each thought you are replying to.
Yes I am attempting to illustrate.............hopefully this is helpful to anyone wanting to quote someone with specific interjections. Multiquoting is the same but you have to make SURE to do each person and have the end quote at the end.

Of course, if you are baffled by what someone posted...check the source of the quote by clicking on where the "username said" occasionally you will find it different, which is a problem

I found that it is easier to highlight the part I want to quote, and usually (might take 2-3 tries at times) a little bubble pops up that says "reply" and when I hit that it quotes ONLY the highlighted part instead of the entire post.
I find that easier than trying to remember all the quote codes QUOTE="Mii,post:4438180,member:28265" < stuff like that I don't remember or don't even know member#'s and post #'s etc
btw I went to edit this and put the [......] around the word QUOTE and it changed the whole format for everything, making it look like everything else I said below this was Mii's being quoted by me.....

also, you can not quote a quote that has been quoted.......
in other words take post 2 for example, I can not quote the remarks from Gary that Kayla put in her post, I would have to go back to gary's post that the quotes came from to quote it myself.

and one more thought on quoting and distroying them......
sometimes (on laptops especially) you accidentally rub against the mouse, moving the curser, then do it again only this time bumping it just enough that it thinks you've clicked it but you didn't intend to while you're typing away and next thing yoiu know there is a whole bunch of jumbled up sentences......
I really wish that SOME users on CC (not going to name any names here but rhymes with CANDY ;);)) could actually see how much they make me LOL instead of me having to use emojis and gifs and words to tell them I did so.......

I really wish people (in general) would learn that the term “Civil War” is odd.

There‘s nothing civil about war. 🤔

Wait for it...yes, bingo!..... another meaning of the word ”civil”?

I‘m thinking “War” pretty much sums it up?
You can’t get much more War-ish on the word War? Yes?

It’s self contained. Compact and crammed with a “contents under pressure” tag in a nasty jar on that back shelf where people keep the stale broken taco shells.
Every human, young or old, tall and short knows the meaning of that ugly word.

It‘s awful to think wars need individual titles —World War I and II (big enough to have a sequel) Vietnam, Revolutionary, World War Z, War of the Roses, and even a War of the Worlds?

...and the saddest part is there was/is so much war going on, everywhere, so often, that just using the year it happened isn’t clear enough.

😔 The longest and worst war going on forever....The Spiritual War.

Well there is, I say there is somebody who agrees with you on that. The League of Confederate Correctors.

Impressive, Lynx, most impressive.

I drop a joke and somehow you can recall some obscure 250 yr old cartoon in the vault with a joke similar to what l said? (wouldn’t play for me, but I’m assuming that’s a yes?)

(BTW, I’m a huge fan of Calvin and Hobbes, so kudos on those posts)

That’s funny. How did you think of that vid? I’m intrigued? Seoul and l were JUST talking about that topic a few weeks back. ( she asked where l come up with my one liners / or something like that? ) Or do get/pull quotes from the net? I tell her “They’re original to me”?
Meaning, maybe there is a variation of the joke out there somewhere buy I just kinda have a brain that creates it ...which is 100% original to me. We all do this.

2021: should every line we write or meme created from “scratch” be Googled first? Maybe? My laziness should not end up in a stolen property lawsuit?(steal material...not cool. We artists know this) Although I say there’s absolutely nothing new under the sun with comedy...movie plots...and every joke or line takes from some thing or some one else’s first shot at it.

Which (finally) leads to music (and this reply purpose) I apologize for the setup.

You sing? I saw this article? a video? Maybe you posted it? It asked “will we run out of new music at some point in the future?” (Seen it?) Taking every note possible, every instrument, every beat, every word combination and mix possible.

Can we eventually run out of fresh original music? (even if it took another 15,000 yrs?) If it was you who posted it, would you mind reposting it.

Interesting thought? Same applies to characters, movie plots , etc?
When l dropped the Civil War line l did think “this can’t be original, someone has said this by now?” I went for it.

Good catch. 😂
Please ponder the music theory question?
I bet you have thoughts? I always enjoy hearing artists reply to off the wall deeper questions on their talents.

Wouldn't play for you? Phooey!

Rocky and Bullwinkle are studying football plays, but the main enemy (Boris) had swapped them for Civil War battle plans.
"Or as we call it, the war between the states!"
"Now wait a minute, who are you?"
"Colonel Jefferson Beauregard Leeza."
"Yeah but you're not part of our story!" (Rocky and Bullwinkle were doing fourth-wall breaking BEFORE it was cool.)
"No, I'm from the League of Confederate Correctors. Every time a program refers to the late unpleasantness as the Civil War..."
"You show up and correct them?"
"That's right, sugar. We call it the War Between the States."
"Yeah but..."
"I just cannot abide the word civil!"

They continued with that gag for the rest of the episode:
"I'll thank you to keep a civil tongue in your head."
"That's a war between the states tongue."
"Oh good grief!"

"Just pass the ball Sybil."
"Uh uh uh, that's..."
"I said Sybil, not civil!"
