It’s great to work for the lord. He gave you his salvation and wants you to work out what he gave you with fear and trembling
whats not ok is to work in order to earn salvation, ,keep it or maintain it, and it is very dangerous to do what many do and try to work out the law after they have come to christl. Study it? Of course. Work at it? It Stunts your growth
the difference is what works we do . The law doesn’t really teach any good works .
not committing adultery isn’t a good work it’s a command not to do bad works .
in fact there are very little good works in the law it’s mostly “ don’t do this evil thing or you must surely be put to death by the others among you “
good works that God approves regard true godly love tone another they take the form like this
“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand,
Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat:
I was thirsty, and
ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and
ye took me in: Naked, and
ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them,
Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Matthew 25:34-40
the law doesn’t teach people those things those good works and it’s not that they don’t apply to salvation brother because look at the difference in what the others didn’t do and where thier rewatd is
“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and
ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and
ye took me not in: naked, and
ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
And these shall go away into
everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
Matthew 25:41-46
the only difference is what they did , thier good works or refusal to do them they all called him lord but based on thier actions toward other people in need , determined whether they received the kingdom of God or whether they received the devils eternal inheritance
The works of the law aren’t the good works Christians are to be careful tommaintain those works look like this
It’s about the actions produced by Gods love
“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and
we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
But
whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
My little children,
let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.”
1 John 3:16-19 KJV
We need repentance and belief of the things Jesus taught because this is true
“But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against
the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
To them who by
patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality,
eternal life:
But unto them
that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
But glory, honour, and peace,
to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.”
Romans 2:5-11 KJV
It’s not about the law of Moses it’s about the law of Christ the gospel that teaches us to love others with Gods love If we’re like the priests who saw the man in great need and pass on by ignoring him were not going to inherit the kingdom but if we follow after the example of the Good Samaritan and go help him in his need those are the citizens of the kingdom who walk the walk and don’t deny thier confession with thier deeds
