the graphic description in Ezekiel 23: 19-20. Wwhhhyyyyy go into that much detail?
It's actually one of my favorite sections of Scripture because it clearly shows that God doesn't hold back or mince words when He expresses Himself. This in turn convinces me that I can do the same when talking to Him, and encourage others to do the same in their own prayers.

Growing up, I never understood why people made such a big deal over how supposedly graphic Song of Solomon is.

It's Sesame Street compared to this description in Ezekiel.

Because to the people in the time period the symbolism meant something...
Here we are 3,000+ years later in a completely different culture trying to put today's understanding on it.

If you know what the expressions mean it is pornographic.

Maybe I understand it wrong but no :)
It's probably better that you don't.
But suffice it to say that God is passionate about saving mankind and especially his Church. Song of Solomon is a euphemism of that passion.
At least that's the meaning of all of that poetry.

I understand that it's meant to be very graphic and descriptive of God's love, but for my own self, I've never personally seen or defined anything in the Bible as being "pornographic."

It's definitely something I'll have to put on my list of questions to ask in heaven someday...

"Lord, would you say that any parts of your Word are pornographic, and if so, which parts, and why?"

Definitely thought-provoking.

:ROFL::ROFL: the "and why" made me just LOL
"Why?" is always my biggest, and usually most unanswerable, question.

I know we can't always know why, or God doesn't want us to know, but in this case, if God Himself would define part of His Word using the word JohnDB mentioned, I would definitely want to know why -- and in God's own words! 😁

First off, I never imagined that any woman prostituting herself liked it or enjoyed it. Then when you think of hebrew slaves, and God sending Moses, you don't think of the women being willing prostitutes having a good ole time. I get it that God is telling these folks who they really are and it is horrible enough. I just didn't expect that graphic of a detail there. Not that humans aren't capable of many horrible things.

That word just mean graphic sexual immorality. So while we don't like the word well by strict definition, well there ya have it.

Thank you for the additional information.

I've seen it defined in varying ways, such as, by the art community and how the human body is depicted in a supposed artistic manner.

It will definitely be fascinating to hear what God Himself has to say about it when we get to heaven.

Not that such things would have any meaning then, but I'm always intrigued by the thought of God answering all the questions we've ever had in Person some day. 🙂

Why wait, ask him now.
I must ask him at least 10 questions a day. Slowly by slowly he answers them. I get a bit frustrated because I want to know now :giggle:
