1 Corinthians 10:2
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them:

RECAP: They were "All Baptized into Moses". They "All Ate Mana from Heaven" (Jn 6:31) & Died! (Jn 6:41). They "All Drank from a Rock in the Wilderness" & "They're All Dead"!

NT believers are "Baptized into the Name that carries All Authority"(Matt 28:18) the Name "Above ALL Names" (Phil 2:9).

NT believers Eat the True Bread from heaven (Jn 6:32-40) & Drink from the Cup of Blessing (1 Cor 10:16) cut from the "Blood of the Eternal Covenant" (Heb 13:20) & have God's promise of Eternal Life (1 Jn 2:25, 5:11,13,).

The high priest serves as mediator between God & His people.

Heb 4:14 Inasmuch then as we [believers] have a great High Priest who has [already ascended and] passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith and cling tenaciously to our absolute trust in Him as Savior].
(MY NOTE: Christ is RIGHT NOW today's redeemed/believers, Savior & great High Priest)

Heb 5:6 just as He also says in another place, “You are a priest [appointed] forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”
(MY NOTE: Christ our High Priesthood is appointed forever!)

Heb 6:
19 This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it]—a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells],
(MY NOTE: Our unbreakable Rock entered into heavens temple)

20 where Jesus has entered [in advance] as a forerunner for us, having become a High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
(MY NOTE: Christ our High Priesthood HAS ALREADY on our behalf entered heaven, as our mediator/advocate with the Father)

Heb 7:
11 Now if perfection [a perfect fellowship between God and the worshiper] had been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people were given the Law) what further need was there for another and different kind of priest to arise, one in the manner of Melchizedek, rather than one appointed to the order of Aaron?
(MY NOTE: Christs Priesthood REPLACED the Levitical priesthood given under Mosaic Law)

12 For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is of necessity a change of the law as well.
(MY NOTE: A CHANGE priesthood requires a CHANGE in LAW as well)

22 And so [because of the oath’s greater strength and force] Jesus has become the certain guarantee of a better covenant [a more excellent and more advantageous agreement; one that will never be replaced or annulled].
(MY NOTE: Christ's new covenant Priesthood administration is superior to & has REPLACED FOREVER the old Mosaic covenant system)

28 For the Law appoints men as high priests who are weak [frail, sinful, dying men], but the word of the oath [of God], which came after [the institution of] the Law, permanently appoints [as priest] a Son [d]who has been made perfect forever.
(MY NOTE: Christ's new covenant Priesthood administration is superior to & has REPLACED FOREVER the old Mosaic covenant system)

Heb 9:15 For this reason He is the Mediator and Negotiator of a new covenant [that is, an entirely new agreement uniting God and man], so that those who have been called [by God] may receive [the fulfillment of] the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has taken place [as the payment] which redeems them from the sins committed under the obsolete first covenant.
(MY NOTE: Jesus is ALREADY our new covenant High Priest. His mediation redeems the soul eternally. Christ's eternal priesthood is far superior to the now OBSOLETE old covenant system.)

Jesus death, burial & resurrection terminated the old Mosaic covenant & it's sin invoked ordinances, for every believer.

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 1Cor.11:29

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses. Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Posts focus Christ is NOW mediating a New Better Covenant. His Once for all time sin management system & notes law changes as well.

Thankfully the Old obsolete Mosaic covenant doesn't apply to anyone that reads the post. A bit more on the retired Mosaic punitive (also retired for new covenant believers) law ordinances.

2 Cor 3:
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
(MY NOTE: NT believers aren't called to be ministers of an obsolete Mosaic law, who's punitive laws KILL. NT believers are called to minister the life giving Christ mediated/centered New covenant)

7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
(MY NOTE: Here scripture calls the letter/law written on 2 stone tables (Deut 4:13) an administrator of death, that would one day be done away with. Christ retired Mosaic priesthood & punitive laws here:

Jesus death tears Temple veil in 1/2 (this veil separated sinful man from a Holy God's presents). Next, the New ETERNAL Melchizedek Priesthood covenant begins in resurrection power 3 days later. It's 1st implementation is seen here:

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out [clearly and appropriately].
(MY NOTE: Christ believers filled/INDWELT with the Holy Spirit. Only Christ baptizes with the Holy Spirit (Matt 3:11, Mk 1:8, Lk 3:16, Acts 1:4).

It was here the Holy Spirit of God indwelt believers = New Melchizedek Priesthood Covenant. God's presents no longer dwells in a Tabernacle or Temple inner sanctuary/Holy of Holies (Mosaic covenant) made with human hands.)

Every REDEEMED/COMPLETELY SIN FORGIVEN FOREVER believer is NOW a Temple where a Holy God's Spirit forever indwells. Once indwelt/baptized with Christ's Holy Spirit. The believers eternal fate is securely SEALED (Eph 4:30, 2 Cor 1:22, 5:5, 2 Tim 1:14, Jn 10:28-29, Rom 8:35-39)

Christ is BETTER: Better then angels, because they worship the Christ. Better then Moses, because He created Him. Better then the Aaronic priesthood, because Christ's sin sacrifice is once for all time. Better then the law, because Christ mediates a better covenant.

Jesus Christ did NOT terminate The Mosaic Law, He FULFILLED it for us.

Before Jesus went to the cross, He met with Moses and Elijah to be examined by The Law and The Prophets.

Jesus became transfigured because He passed His examination - He had fulfilled all.

Just one last thing to do before leaving Earth..... die on the cross to give us His Blood to cleanse us from our sins and give us His Righteousness which is His human body that had fulfilled the Law.

In Christ, our sins are forgiven and the Law is fulfilled.(y)

Jesus completely terminated Mosaic covenant law ordinances.

The Mosaic covenant was between God & the Nation of Israel only (Ex 19:3 & ALL the Israelis Agreed to it Ex 19:8)

Under the Mosaic Covenant obedience to it's law ordinances (Israelis only) brought blessings, disobedience curses (Deut 28).

Under the Mosaic Levitical sin sacrificial system. Sins were covered (NOT REMOVED), nothing under Mosaic laws could take away/removed sin (Heb 10:1-4)

Circumcision was an absolute requirement under Mosaic law.

Ex 12:43-48. No foreigners, servants, sojourners or strangers could partake in the in the Passover meal unless they were circumcised.

Council at Jerusalem: Acts 15:24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
(MY NOTE: Letters by Christ chosen apostles proclaimed: WE gave NO, nor do we NOW invoke Mosaic law keeping on you!)

No GENTILE nor any NT believer has ever been under Mosaic covenant Law ordinances:

Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
(MY NOTE: Gentiles referred to as the Uncircumcision (vs 11). Gentiles were Uncircumcised Strangers/living outside of Mosaic covenants, having no hope, and without God in the world

Posted Ex 12,19, Acts 15, Eph 2, factually support: NO gentile was ever under Mosaic covenant laws & NO NT believer is now under Mosaic covenant laws ordinances.

Hebrews 9:
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
(MY NOTE: Only faith is Christ's >> LAW FULFILLING >> SIN ATONING BLOOD PAYMENT <<< can provide eternal redemption/salvation!)

13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctified to the purifying of the flesh:
(MY NOTE: The blood of bulls & goats & the ashes of a red heifer only purified flesh. Mosaic covenant Levitical laws could NOT redeem/save a Soul.)

15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
(MY NOTE: Jesus is mediator of new testament/covenant. Under this New Christ mediated New covenant sin administration system. Not only are sins removed/taken away (Jn 1:29) Our great High Priest (Heb 4:14) can provide eternal life)

16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
(MY NOTE: Christ had to die & rise to redeem anyone before they could receive the promise of eternal salvation)

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved

The dividing point between 2 covenants is: Christs death & resurrection.

New covenant
Matt 26:28 (AMP) For this is My blood of the new covenant, which ratifies the agreement and is being poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Matt 26:28 (KJV) For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

This new covenant mediated by Christ Himself. provides complete sin removal & imputes His Righteousness. Onto everyone that will place their Faith/trust in Jesus sin redemptive work. Found in Christ's death, burial & resurrection.

Unlike the inferior Old Levitical covenant/sin management system. Under the New Eternal Christ mediated Priesthood covenant sin administration. Not only are the believers sins removed. Our High Priest abides over and mediates eternal life.

Jesus retired the old Levitical priesthood here: Temple veil is torn in 1/2. (Matt 27:51.) Old Mosaic covenant is now OBSOLETE! (Heb 7:22,28, 8:13, 9:15 & 16 <<< Death of the tesator)

3 days later in Resurrection power the Eternal Christ mediated Priesthood is established & administers complete sin removal, pardon & forgiveness for every Past-Present-Future person of faith.

50 days later the new covenant is invoked/SEEN when believers are baptized & eternally sealed with Jesus indwelling Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4 Pentecost)

The Presents/Holy Spirit of God no longer dwells in Tabernacles/Temples (Mosaic covenant) behind a veil.

It now indwells in the heart & mind of every believer (1 Cor 6:19). Jesus New covenant Priestly sin administration completely removes (via imputation) every believers sin & additionally imputes HIS righteousness into the NT believer. And we become the righteous of God in Christ (2 Cor 5:21)

Only Christ can baptize with the eternal salvation sealing Holy Spirit of God (Matt 3:11, Mk 1:8, Lk 3:16, Acts 1:4). Nothing in the old obsolete Mosaic covenant comes close to Christ's eternal new covenant Priesthood.

While the Temple was operating the Mosaic (carnal/temporal) Levitical High Priest had authority to Impute/transfer sin (Lev 16:21).

Christ is our Great New covenant ETERNAL High Priest (Heb 4:14, 5:10, 7:17,21). Our Eternal New Covenant mediator "Christ" can not only impute a believers sins onto Himself. Christ can Impute (Rom 4) His righteousness onto the believer as well. Whereby we become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor 5:21).

Spotless ALL Sins FOREVER removed & forgiven. Nothing under the old OBSOLETE (Heb 7:22,28, 8:13, 9:15) Mosaic covenants could come close to the New BETTER Eternal covenant that Christ mediates.

Christ is BETTER! Better then angels, because they worship the Christ. Better then Moses, because He created Him. Better then the Aaronic priesthood, because Christ's sin sacrifice is once for all time. Better then the law, because Christ mediates a better covenant.

Before Jesus went to the cross, He met with Moses and Elijah to be examined by The Law and The Prophets.

Jesus became transfigured because He passed His examination - He had fulfilled all.
1st, Jesus is still alive & has yet fulfilled sins required price/DEATH.

2ndly, The transfiguration is a vision & not an examination, of Christ/God by Moses & Elias.

Matt 17:
1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
(MY NOTE: In this VISION (see vs 9) Peter, James & John see Moses & Elias talking with Christ).

4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
(MY NOTE: Peter suggests making 3 dwelling of honor: 1 for Jesus, 1 for Moses & 1 for Elias)

5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
(MY NOTE: Out of a cloud (an OT presents of God) say's listen to My Son He's superior)

6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

(RECAP: Vs 1, Jesus takes Peter, James & into a high mountain. Vs 2, Jesus (not Moses or Elias) is transfigured & is covered in Shekinah Glory. Vs 3, Peter, James & John see Moses & Elias talking with Christ. Vs 4, Peter suggests making 3 dwelling of honor: 1 for Jesus, 1 for Moses & 1 for Elias. Vs 5, Out of a cloud (an OT presents of God) say's listen to My Son He's superior. Vs 6, disciple fear the voice coming from the Cloud. Vs 7, Jesus comforts his disciples. Vs 8, Visions over. Vs 9, Jesus teaches His transfiguration was a vision.

KJV Dictionary Definition: VI'SION, n. s as z. L. visio, from video, visus.
4. In Scripture, a revelation from God; an appearance or exhibition of something supernaturally presented to the minds of the prophets, by which they were informed of future events. Such were the visions of Isaiah, of Amos, of Ezekiel, etc.
https://av1611.com/kjbp/kjv-dictionary/vision.html

(MY NOTE: A vision is a revelation from God, something supernaturally presented to the mind, which inform of future events.)

What's the revelation/teaching in the transfiguration ? Jesus to be vetted/examined by he Law & Prophets?

It's showing Peter, James & John: Jesus/God is BETTER then the 2 old covenant law & prophet pillars, Moses & Elias. Whom represent old covenant law & prophets.

Christ is BETTER: Better then Moses or Elias (as great as they were) because He created Him. Better then the CARNAL (see Heb 7:16 9:10) Aaronic/Levitical priesthood, because Christ's sin sacrifice is once for all time. Better then the law, because Christ mediates a NEW BETTER ETERNAL (not temporal/carnal) COVENANT! Amen

When you wrongly accuse our God of cancelling His promises to us, as there were promises in the old covenant, you misunderstand much of what scripture tells us. Also, by saying that our God did not have all man in mind when God led the Israel muddles the word of the Lord.

God gave a better covenant in Christ in the new covenant, many things in the old covenant are obsolete as we do not need those commands in order to follow the Lord, the Holy Spirit leads us. But the idea that God blindly cancelled all God promised in the old covenant, and that he didn't care a rip for the gentiles as God led the crowd out of bondage is misrepresenting God.

It is through disagreements that we learn, thanks for replying.

I am in the minority, most believe with you that I am wrong. I have spent hours on hours with scripture about this and am unable to agree with the majority of Christians. We know that the Lord leads us completely, we can depend on the Lord to always be correct, yet most say the Lord changed His mind about the promises of the old covenant. That makes no sense to me.

Basically, the old covenant tells us there are blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. The blessings do not include salvation, that has always been only through what Christ did for us. New testament scripture speaks of this, for those people who don't believe the old testament is reliable truth. We are told of the fruits of the spirit.

No @FlyingDove - Jesus Christ did NOT terminate the Mosiac Law, He fulfilled all of it.

God's Word never passes away, God fulfills it then He starts something new. Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law and the Prophets. Now there is a NEW Covenant and a NEW Law.....the Law of Grace that you speak of.

Also, Jesus Christ was transfigured - it was not a vision.

It's no big deal that we disagree, it makes for a good conversation!(y)

We'll continue to disagree on the Mosaic covenant cut a Sinai. The apostles had disagreements & still managed to love one another.

Regarding the transfiguration, I could supply other supporting verses. I'd prefer to say with the Mt. of transfiguration context alone.

King James Version
Matt 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, """Jesus charged them, saying""" """Tell the vision to no man""", until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

Lafftur, Jesus tells Peter, James & John, Quote: "Tell the VISION to no man". Who am I to believe?

You said, Now there is a NEW Covenant and a NEW Law.....the Law of Grace. On that note, we agree, I'll close with that. Peace, JJ

Hi,
Just to clarify, I believe the old testament is a/the reliable truth. That the law itself is flawless, it had a purpose, to teach of, expose & condemn sin without mercy.

I contend that at a sinless Jesus death, He became sin & a curse. Endured all judgment & curses imposed for law non-compliance. That His resurrection is Father's stamp of approval/receipt, sin's required wage/payment received & accepted. And He now mediates a New Better Covenant. Shalom, JJ

We both see scripture as truth, not something to agree or disagree about!

When I wondered if Christ created grace, I used my concordance to check for grace in the old testament. I found that grace is an eternal principle of God. Man has never been able to achieve salvation through his works, only by grace. I also found that scripture spoke of salvation in the old testament, especially in the Psalms.

I found that there is nothing in the old testament about salvation leading to being with the Father in heaven, it is called sleep or being with their fathers. When Christ fulfilled what was spoken of Him, when the curtain was split at the time he was dead in the flesh and alive in the spirit, scripture speaks of the saints of the old testament being alive and walking the streets of Jerusalem. MATTHEW 27:52-53

The Children of Israel, while they were in the wilderness, were disobedient, and by their disobedience, salvation was gained by the nations.

This is good news, and not a criticism of Israel.

YES! @Lafftur Old Mosaic Law Covenant Terminated!

12 verses Gal 4:26 & 30 alone say it all

Source Amplified Bible https://www.biblegateway.com/

Galatians 4:
21 Tell me, you who are bent on being under the Law, do you not listen to [what] the Law [really says]?

22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman [Hagar] and one by the free woman [Sarah].

23 But the child of the slave woman was born according to the flesh and had an ordinary birth, while the son of the free woman was born in fulfillment of the promise.
(MY NOTE: Hagar's son, Ishmael, born via physical worldly desire. Sarah's son Issac born from above via God's promise)

24 Now these facts are about to be used [by me] as an allegory [that is, I will illustrate by using them]: for these women can represent two covenants: one [covenant originated] from Mount Sinai [where the Law was given] that bears children [destined] for slavery; she is Hagar.
(MY NOTE: 2 different covenants. Hagar represents the Old Mosaic covenant & a circumcision made/cut with human hands)

25 Now Hagar is (represents) Mount Sinai in Arabia and she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.
(MY NOTE: The apostle compares the Sinai covenant: With SLAVERY)

26 But the Jerusalem above [that is, the way of faith, represented by Sarah] is free; she is our mother.
(MY NOTE: Sarah represents the New from above/spiritual Covenant. Spiritually written on the heart & mind (Heb 10:16) made without human hands (Col 2:11 & Rom 2:29, Deut 30:6)

27 For it is written [in the Scriptures], “Rejoice, o barren woman who has not given birth;
Break forth into a [joyful] shout, you who are not in labor; For the desolate woman has many more children Than she who has a husband.”

28 And we, [believing] brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children [not merely of physical descent, like Ishmael, but are children born] of promise [born miraculously].

29 But as at that time the child [of ordinary birth] born according to the flesh persecuted the son who was born according to [the promise and working of] the Spirit, so it is now also.

30 But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman [Hagar] and her son [Ishmael], For never shall the son of the bondwoman be heir and share the inheritance with the son of the free woman.”
(MY NOTE: Those that cling to the OLD Mosaic covenant, CAN NEVER partake in the NEW eternal Christ mediated covenant.)

31 So then, believers, we [who are born again—reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] are not children of a slave woman [the natural], but of the free woman [the supernatural].
(MY NOTE: NT believers are BORN/spiritually from God above & have NO PART with the slave woman's carnal/physical/temporal covenant cut at Sinai!)

!)
I don't understand these scriptures as applying to the Sinai covenant. Scripture tells us that to be sinful and disobedient is to be enslaved by sin. under Christ we repent of sin, ask forgiveness, and we are set free. We are dead tp sin, and as Paul states, why would we want sin in our lives after we are dead to sin.

John 8:34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
