Is it possible that people do not feel
Heard? Or important?
Perhaps it's because society puts such value on "winning "

Aren't Christians suppose to serve?
Is it possible that in fighting we are
Losing even when we "feel" vindicated?

I am personally learning that the argument is a trap
Especially when someone has their mind made up.
Perhaps it's just not fun
Not to fight
But
I am looking for another method
Of communication- Help me find one

From the bible we have several reasons for the conflict. Romans 1:21-22 gives insight. 2 Tim 4:3 is another scripture that is on point.

We are far late in the age than we realize.

In case you have not noticed, (whether we like it or not) Christian forums are essentially battlegrounds for Gospel truth and Bible truth. And a battle involves battling. What you wish to see is what should be within a local church -- harmony because all are essentially in agreement. But the Internet is open to all, whether genuine Christians, misguided Christians, or people who may only be calling themselves Christians. Or even trolls.

Here is my conclusion (a repeat of my post on another thread):
A problem I see is the intertwining of church and politics.

The focus should remain on preaching the gospel; the love and grace of Christ and the opportunity for repentance for the un-believers,
But the focus seems to be shifting more and more to judging the un-believers and advocating for cultural and legal changes requiring un-believers to follow the moral law.

But what good is it for an un-believer to follow the moral law? For no one is justified by the law. Getting an un-believer to follow the moral law is more beneficial to the believer. Therefore, the mixing of politics and church is a more selfish endeavor. It is a more fleshly endeavor. For we see the un-believer as the enemy. Thus the sword is literal. This is what you see happening on the web. People wielding a literal sword.

To resist judging un-believers and their lawless ways and to instead share the gospel message of grace and hope and love and the opportunity for repentance and peace with God is a more selfless endeavor. This is a more spiritual endeavor. For here we see that the un-believer is not the real enemy. The demonic power they are enslaved to is the real enemy. Thus the sword is spiritual. Perhaps this is what you would rather see christians wielding: a spritual sword.

For those who view their land as spiritual (the church) and their enemy as spiritual (demonic), will want to devote more of their time wielding a spiritual sword.

For those who view their land as literal (USA) and their enemy as literal (flesh), will want to devote more of their time wielding a literal sword.

Anonymity. People don't fear repercussions of their behaviors. Nor do they have to see, first hand, the results.
Also dehumanization. A name on a screen does not make the person "real". So your words aren't to a person but an idea.

Meh, I don't have any animosity toward those with whom I have debated hottly on any subject. Mostly I respect that they are intelligent and see to articulate and support their understanding. I have learned a tremendous amount debating here.

There's definitely some truth to this.

To contend for the truth is one thing, to be contentious by the root of pride is another thing. These boards reflect this difference in attitude.

The best method, in my estimation, is to "plant" and/or "water", and then just leave it in God's hands as far as any potential "increase" is concerned (I Cor. 3:7).

In other words, just tell others the truth, and then PRAY TO GOD FOR THEM (PERISH THE THOUGHT!!!) that their eyes might be opened to the same.

Here (and elsewhere), a lot of people try to force the "increase", and that's basically PRIDE in action.

Anyhow, schisms/divisions are actually to expected in any large gathering.

For example, we read:

I Corinthians chapter 11

[17] Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
[18] For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
[19] For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

Even on this website, there are many who simply aren't approved in God's sight.

Problem is that everyone thinks it's the other guy or gal.

We really need to be asking the Lord to examine us and our doctrine.

If we do, then this will alleviate a lot of the error and the infighting.

Other than because of our sinful nature, I think it's because many people's lives are dull and meaningless, even for many so-called Christians. Having an emotionally-charged experience with someone online makes them feel alive; it's like a drug. It's a cheap and always-available drug.

This, of course, is misguided. Life isn't meant to be an endless series of emotionally-charged experiences. But like with any drug, the negative consequences eventually catch up to you. :(

Good point
But I wonder if the arguments open
Apparently closed minds

I mean the Bible
Is binary/ black and white
The truth is not relative
It just is
But many on this forum and
The internet in general create
Fantasies of blurred ideas
And unholy twists of what the word
Actually says
And they want to force their
Ideas on the truth to make it fit them
I don't think it's worth trying to explain to Apostates
That they are wrong
Because their apostasy is their god

Not sure though it seems like a small percentage want the Bible to back up some justifcation for sin in their lives it seems. When they find that it actually doesnt square with scripture they'll post more and more trying to find the thing they claim, maybe even going into as many different translations and word searches, a lot of it is really just squabbling over words.

some believers have their education at stake perhaps they have paid a heap of money to study in seminaries or bible colleges or they are paid staff members of churches there could be a lot of that going on, I suspect.

I think it has to do with egos. It is a sign we have not given up our selves to take on Christ. What the rudeness in answers really consist of is a way of saying "I know more about the Lord than YOU do". Then when we are struck with rudeness, the human reaction is to strike back, and that is not a reaction that reflects Christ. I am praying that I can take the strikes against me and react in a way that only reflects Christ.

There are several people who have declared a sort of war against my posts that I simply don't read, knowing they are not interested in discussing scripture but in fighting. These very people that must be ignored believe they are innocent of any rudeness, and I am rude and fighting. So much for ever striking back, Christ's way is best.

Why the fighting on the web?
The flesh, the devil and bots.
