Jesus reduced all of the law to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself". We are no longer under a series of do this and don't do that, we are to take EVERYTHING to the Lord for His guidance and them walk it out.

"Your approach is likely to drive people away." Wrong! That is the American myth! No wonder the American style of evangelism is a washout. And American churches are dying. I think you should read Lester Roloff's great sermon on Dr Law and Dr Grace. it is well-known in serious evangelical circles. That was in the good old days when America was a strong country - strong spiritually.

Paul first focused on sin in Romans. Read Romans chapter 1.
In chapter 2 of Romans, he indicted both Jews and Gentiles. (And the moralists from both sides.)
Only in chapter 3, does he bring in Grace.

God's love is not a wishy-washy love. it is tough love! Holy love! Fiery love! The fire will burn out sin.

P.S. I believe 100% in the Gospel of Grace. I believe in the Inseparable Love of God. But I will not accept this silly 'kid-glove' approach to stubborn sinners. Let them know they are sinning. The Holy Spirit will convict them.

Jennifer, if you have tattoos, all you have to do is to repent and ask God to forgive you. Clearly, God hates tattoos.

And don't side-track the issue; just focus on the 'terrible truth about tattoos'.

He died when I was 16. I’m not completely sure of his Spiritual status. But I know he feared, and respected the Lord. He never went to Church, (back then the rest of the family went to a Catholic Church) , but he was a very honorable man.

I suspect he was a baby Christian his whole life.
I can’t imagine someone calling him satanic for having “mom” tattooed on his arm.

There is literally no fruit in pointing out sin in someone’s life.

Beautiful! I feel the same about my Dad. Also about my brother. My Dad did not attend church, nor my brother. My brother was really an ornery cuss, but if I could love him, I know God does. My father would talk about the Good Lord, and Jesus at times, not often, but he was totally reverent.

I don’t like tattoos, even “tasteful” ones.

Having said that, and recommending against getting them, we have to be careful not to alienate those in the world we want to reach the Gospel with, and baby Christians just starting to walk with this type of legalism.

Are we justified by faith in Christ? Or by rigidly following the Law ?
