Hello!
I am new to CC. I have felt compelled to find a place where I can speak about my experiences lately and not feel as though the people I am talking to cringe and want to run from me. A few weeks ago I was in a store and felt such a pull toward the religious books. I have never felt such a strong feeling ever. So I bought a couple of the books. My next experience which was a couple of weeks later was I was reading the bible and came across a section that talked about "The Gifts" that each of us have. I was also listening to a audio book called "Miracles" and the same passage came up about "The Gifts" that everyone has to offer. I gave much thought about my "Gifts" and I would have to say that I am a good listener, I have empathy for the other person, I look for the best in everyone, even though it does not seem like they have any thing to offer. I am glad to have found this site. I would like to hear from others as to what their "Gifts" are?

I have a teaching gift, not one I'd necessarily recommend to seek out. I wanted to be an evangelist. All the glory and no responsibility, so it seemed. Of course that's not true. But teaching..... In order to teach, you have to know, in order to know, you have to experience. It's easy to say, "Cast your cares on Him" when everything is going well. When your world is falling apart, you need to do it, not just quote the Bible.

Welcome to CC. Of the Gifts of the Spirit that i can recall i'd say Faith and possibly Discernment resonate most with me personally. Maybe some others too but i don't like to "blow my own trumpet" too much. :)

Welcome, Jesus modeled how the Father wanted us to live, He only did what He saw the Father do, He only said what He heard the Father say.
The "gifts" are from the same source, the Holy spirit. Jesus received from John the Baptist, He imparted to the 12, the 12 imparted to the seventy, unto today, "freely you were given freely give".

Empathy is a good quality to have. Regarding being compelled, maybe God has steered you to this site for a reason. Looking for the best in someone is not a bad thing either. "Gifts" are always a popular topic in the Bible Discussion Forum. Glad to have you as part of our family. Welcome to CC.

Thank you for all your responses. I'm glad I also found this site. I wasn't sure which site to go with, there are a lot to choose from.

I thought I would share with you what happened more than ten years ago. My mother was very ill and unfortunately she passed ( or fortunate as I know she is with God. and is not suffering. My sister was extremely close to her. My sister was in bed one night at my parents house after we buried my mother that day and my sister heard a harp. I told my sister that she knows without a doubt my mother is in heaven and wanted her to know that she is OK and is with God.

It is wonderful how He gives us assurances, I have heard from over 30 people who have had contact with those who have gone before, the veil is very thin, they are not far off.

Howdy and welcome to the forum.

This forum is open for anybody to use, so any advice you get here is subject to all the variable standards of any other open forum. That includes any advice I give, including this post.

About a gift, I almost wish I didn't have any. To use a gift requires a need for that gift, and I wish there was not so terribly much need in the world.

The people you speak of, are they christian or atheists? The atheists I am surrounded with, they did not like it when I became christian, tried every trick in the book to end the faith. Like they felt they lost one of their tribe. Much blasphemy. That is how some are. I was fairly smart and knowledgable which was valued by others before, they do not like that I do not think intellectually anymore. Do not like that I only speak logically on science regarding the virus and envirnomental stuff. Angry with me for not taking the vaccine. They blame my faith I think. Good to have you aboard.

If I have any gifts, I never knew I had them till it was to late to use them. Did not know I could endure, concentrate, be calm and patient, till I became christian. I could have used those gifts early in life, and graduated as an engineer perhaps, instead of dropping out. Maintained relationships better and dealt with other reltions in a better way. I am also getting me some other books regarding faith. Honesty and bluntness are gifts or a curse depending on who you ask. I just started speaking honest, and calling some acts discussed for sins, and some mortal sins. Adviced people to drop those or they might end up in hell. People do not like that at all, could you have a similar issue? If so, it is just a test, endure it till they cool down and do not get so angry for being called out on sins.

The people I speak of do believe in God and are not atheists. Actually, it is my family, husband and sister. They choose not to openly talk about God. Before COVID they would only go to church on Christmas, I was one of those people also for awhile, and felt a calling to start going to church. I have always wanted to read the bible page to page and have just started reading it. It's just one of those things that I said Oh I'll get to it one day. Well the day has come and as of January 1,2021 I made the decision to start reading until I finish. I feel that God may have noticed and has shown me some things now that I am more opened minded to . My family resist any talk about religion. Should I push a little talking about religion? Or just leave it as it is until they ask questions?

It is never to late to use your gifts, calmness, and patience are great gifts, as I get older ( almost 60 ) I find I am running out of patience, I am very aware of my surroundings ( due to my past ) and watch people when I am out and about and if I see someone who may need help I approach them. I saw a woman on a cane the other day and her shoe was untied. I told her about it and she was so grateful. I told her I didn't want to see her fall. She gave me such a nice smile and said thank you! It is a small thing to do but it made both of us feel good. This is an example of things I look for to help people. No gester is too small. God sees all even the small stuff.

As for maintaining better relationships with people, believe me I understand I have apologized to the people I have done wrong by and they choose not to associate with me. I have told them that they are always welcome in my house and heart. So we'll see what happens if anything.

I have told my husband I truly believe God is testing us regarding COVID, like Noah and the Ark. My husband looked at me like I was crazy, but it has crossed my mind that God is so angry with some of his people. Some people act like animals, If you watch the news at all you know what I mean. People are just so mean, and selfish. If I meet someone who is not like that I am surprised.

Sorry I am just talking on and on, but it sounds like you may understand this.

No problem. We understand quite well.

The less I focus on "me" and the more I focus on "us," the more the Bible makes sense to me and the more I understand the heart of God.

I believe I am pretty good at giving other advice, just cannot make good decisions for myself. So, do the opposite of me, do not push them about religion. Be sure to never tell them that some of the sins that they parttake in, will be a ticket to hell. It is the small things that matter, true. I do not bother with the big stuff I cannot change, why waste energy on politics, why chase money to fulfill dreams of a classic car as a status symbol, etc.

Yes, forgiving when you mean it, that is important. But do it because you genuinly feel it, never compromize with yourself and do it as a lie to resolve a situation. If so, that lie will linger. Also correct to point out that they are welcome if they are. I have also said some stuff about God testing us regarding covid. There may be where your problem lies. I did that, and they got all crazy and weird, and angry and pushy, telling me to get the vaccine. Not taking it, not that way. So perhaps you can ease them off if you get vaccinated. I hardly watch news now, just bad news. And yes, people are ill behaved today. So I see some biblical stuff in life and the news.

Just ramble on, no worries, I like to chat also, and do not have anybody in real life to talk to about God, so fun for me. Talk to you later, do a PM if you want. I have to pop out for some hours though. Do a biblethread and tag me, if you want another take on some verse. See you later.
