It depends on which faith you are referring to. There is the spiritual gift of faith which is given to believers (1 Cor 12:9). There is also the spiritual fruit of faith which is given to believers (Gal 5:22). But saving faith is NOT a gift from God. Rather it is the result of the preaching of the Gospel under the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 10). Thus "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (the Gospel)" (Rom 10:17).

Only those who promote Calvinistic unconditional election claim that saving faith is a "gift" from God to the so-called "elect". But since salvation is offered to all -- "whosoever" -- saving faith comes from the preaching of the Gospel, which is to be preached in all the world and to "every creature" (Mk 16:15,16). Since God desires the salvation of all mankind, He has made provision for all to believe. Thus the Gospel is "the power of God unto salvation" (Rom 1:16).
I didn't know there was more than one kind of faith. This is news to me. I absolutely believe and know that salvation is open to all.

Did you actually compose this nonsensical sentence? Who is a "warp king"? Paul did have a unique ministry in that he was given revelations about the Church which were not given to the other apostles. The fact that Paul wrote over half the New Testament, and all his epistles were classified as "Scripture" by Peter counts for much.
yep I have big thumbs and a little phone and I think a typo is probably something we can look over I do not all the time without the insulting language , but to each his own

“Paul did have a unique ministry in that he was given revelations about the Church which were not given to the other apostles.”

NOt at all , Paul was a Roman citizen and was educated in the Greek language and an obviously skilled writer in expressing words to communicate a letter but not at all was he any different from any other apostle. That’s his own claim through not my own idea forced on someone else which you must have skipped over on a hurry to point out a typo lol

it seems like you prefer Paul somehow and that’s alright with me he teaches all the same things in different words

John is actually the one o held revelations of Christ others never offered but the gospel of John is often set aside for sentance sin Paul’s letters that are used to create ill conceived doctrines

Paul just wrote more the others were preaching and didn’t have the education Paul did or eloquence he was blessed with

Jesus established the New Testament Paul was another of his chosen witnesses and servants nothing more or less

“Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:1, 3-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

there’s one above the rest but it’s not Paul

This fact is generally ignored or overlooked. Kindly go to the Scripture references given and you will notice that there is much more to this truth. Also, we need to keep in mind what Christ said about faith in Matthew 17:20. It is not the volume of faith that counts. What counts is the one in whom we have faith and trust, which is God Himself. And without faith it is impossible to please Him.

But how is it useful? If you believe there is more than one kind of faith, how do you present the gospel with this in mind? I don't recall having several kinds of faith. I just have faith. I believe. I know.

1. Firstly, it is not what I believe but what the Bible reveals. So this is not a personal thing. Every Christian should be aware of these truths.

2. The Gospel must be preached to all, so that all may have SAVING faith in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. That is the reason for the preaching of the Gospel.

3. Among those who are believers, some will then receive the spiritual GIFT of faith. It would therefore appear that this is extraordinary faith.

4. At the same time, among those who are believers, God expects to see the spiritual FRUIT of faith, among all other spiritual fruit. Those who are given the spiritual gifts for the ministry of the Word are also given the requisite faith to exercise those gifts. See Romans 12:6. This means believing God and Christ and all that they have revealed in Scripture and personally by the Holy Spirit.

3. No mention of extraordinary faith anywhere in Scripture

4. The Holy Spirit lives in all who are born-again and believe in the Lord. This is also no different from having faith. Faith will be exhibited by those who have faith. The fruit will be obvious.

This distinction is no distinction at all. Anyone who has faith, has ALL manner of faith.

You believe that faith Is dead to GOD without works?
God is what this site is all about, and no human is God. The question is how God sees our faith.

I don't believe that God wants us to only think our love for him, even demons think that God is God. To God, it is how our actions are influenced by our thoughts.

Well we all know what is clearly written. Where did this question "alive to God, dead to God" come from? It's just James goes through all this. Faith comes by hearing hearing by the word of God, with out faith it's impossible to please God. Maybe :) some do not understand what "works" means thus the question. No offense but James talks about this, Paul in Romans talks about this. Just seems were playing with words "alive, dead" "God". Then more I read... this "pot" so to speak has allot of other things in it :)

I am guessing but you would have to know when it comes to "works" rabbit hole, can of worms.. every time. Like I said.. its clearly written.

There's the living who are dead and the living who are alive.
There's the dead who are dead and the dead who are alive.
yes but faith without works is like a body without a spirit it’s dead and inanimate .

if the subject is faith
“For as the body without the spirit is dead,

so faith without works is dead also.”
‭‭James‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

so like when Adam eas formed of the dust is like saying I have faith , but when Gid breathed the spirit into his dead inanimate body adam became a living soul

what if he rejected Gods breath of life ?

like Noah God told him the earth was going to flood and based on what Gkd said he moved and built the ark God told him would save him , if Noah had declined the work his faith would have drown him also but nose became an heir of the righteousness of faith when he moved based on what Hod told him Noah believed there was a flood coming that’s what moved him to work being the snkfim for Gods Grace that told him what was coming so he didn’t die

ultimately our works matter because this is absolutely true

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet,

moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;

by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Had Noah rejected the part that god told him to build the ark his faith wasn’t going to be counted as righteousness and his family was going to drown with the rest .

Noah was saved by Grace also

“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭6:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And believed Gods word of warning and instruction believing he would be saved from the flood he had a seed of faith

“And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an ark of gopher wood;
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭6:13-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But more so he has a promise of salvstion he believed because of who said it

“But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭6:18‬ ‭

and so faith was made complete and saved them when this happened because he had actually believed Gods declaration of what was ahead and guidance of what to do and promise of what would result

“Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭6:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Gods Grace has told us what is ahead , he has told us what to believe and do to be saved , and what will result of we obey

for us we don’t have to build and ark

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39, 41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we’ll do that if we believe the gospel and it’s promise Grace , leads to faith , and faith creates workers who aren’t ashamed to step out of the boat a little and try to walk with Jesus even when we fall jew there to save us up again and set us on solid ground

Paul’s ministry was about this ultimately

“For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

not obedient to Moses but to Jesus and the gospel of spirit and truth his commands are like this

“In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him. For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:21-22, 24, 30-37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the lesson within the parable is something that’s of spirit well
Never find this exact situation but it speaks a spirit of brotherly love that won’t pass by someone in need and act as if we don’t see them because we don’t want to put ourself out

it’s soirit and not letter these types of things can be a belief Thy at we accept nowhere we we are when we hear him we can start walking in the works of God like helping and caring for those who have needs when we are able and have plenty

This is not pertaining to the OP. Is faith without works still faith to God? Yes, of course it is because faith is a gift from God.

No mention of extraordinary faith anywhere in Scripture
That is completely false. Jesus noted the extraordinary faith of Gentiles who came to Him for healing: When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. (Mt 8:10) For Jesus to "marvel" at something would mean that it was extraordinary.

As to the rest of your response, it denies what Scripture affirms. Which means that you failed to study the Scriptures referenced.

it’s sort of what the op is asking about this verse

“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
‭‭James‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

so yeah if you want to make this a secret code where one gets to say James has no clue d we shouldn’t listen to his word who is Jesus brother and an early church leader , then sure we can argue “ faith is a gift and that has no merit “

but believers are actually wanting to know what’s in scripture . Doesn’t seem like we need to erase scripture to make an argument . Seems pretty plain we can say I have faith and it’s a gift , true , but faith without works is dead is written

like again Noah what would have happened if he argued “ faith is a gift lord I don’t need to actually do what you said and build an ark that’s not faith lord !”

I think Noah would have drown while he was explaining faith is a gift , but instead he believes the lords word and not the people saying “ don’t believe that no works to be done Noah “ they all drown and the one guy who believes and thought “ I’m blessed that God told me what to do so o can be saved and didn’t argue logic so he didn’t have to believe what God said

But faith and works seemed to actually be what the post was asking , the Bible says it again and again we can say we are full of faith and if it requires us to reject the word of God , it’s going to be what he calls dead there or , not able to save because the moment faith isn’t from What God said it seases to be faith

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Noah heard what God said and didn’t tell people not to believe it he just heard and believed , and never argued why it wasn’t faith .

I think probably I’m more interested in what Scriptire says not looking to eliminate it

“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
‭‭James‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

there’s no code to that it’s a statement by someone who ac to ally knows much more about faith than we do

lol
Yeah I read typos here slot and make a lot also I always find a giggle how they come out from others and myself .

but some people see it dofferent and that’s alright too . I remember being a kid and young person some people are really troubled by bad grammar or typos , I figure people are different I look more for those who makes plenty of thier own “ typos” and have grace enough for my “ typos” with letters and also on life I think that’s something I’m learning

writing or living sometimes our thumbs are too big for the keys and we stumble through a bit , but I think that good intentions and a good heart covers every typo at least to me it helps to think of it and look for the “ warp king “ typos elf life I sort of enjoy fellowshippomg where typos are allowable and even comically enjoyable 🤣

thanks for your post God bless you

Agree , but there’s an order faith has to be rooted first here

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Alot of us never have real faith because we try to build around the foundation and without root in the good soil. We build faith in modern interpretations that aren’t coming from Gods word where faith lives and is granted , so it speaks a faith that is created by a man insisting Gods word needs to come through them and their idea

I shutter when the debate “ faith or works” or faith versus works pops up because already from the beginning it’s a faulty proposition me creates an opposition where there is none

we should never try to work until we have faith rooted right here in the source of saving faith

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that’s a word of faith because he isn’t saying “ keep all of My rules and do everything I’ve told you forst and then you will be saved “

it’s a word of faith because he has said in all his words throughout the gospel “ hear my word and believe in God and you will. Ot be condemned but have already been made alive and saved “

that’s a word of pure faith coming from the word of God himself

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus isn’t offering us a new rule list he is inviting us to begin in our walk of faith with him carrying his light yoke of hearing his word and believing and letting faith fill our void and then like a seed within us , it begins to fill and grow outward

Jesus word is this word that “ quickens “ a believer but doesn’t help a non believer

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

his words have this same power to make and create light where none exists

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So a man hearing Gods word of faith and believing this happens

“And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.

And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭10:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that’s because God said it and Moses believed his reaching forth was from faith

Jesus is that word so he speaks life into a dead man and the power of faith in his word gives life

“And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”
‭‭John‬ ‭11:43-44‬ ‭KJV‬‬

faith understands this about Christ Jesus his word is absolute , whatever he has said is how it will always be forever tha why the scripture begins and concludes with those who put thier faith in him shall be saved

our focus is Jesus and hearing the gospel of light and life , and the results of doing that is a changing of the inhibitors within us that keep us bound like Lazarus we simply need to grow ears for Jesus words knowing who he is and the world are a result of that quickening ( making alive and strengthening ) within our heart and mind

works are accomplished indeed by faith but if we look at this like “ I need to do these works to be saved and accepted “ we aren’t letting faith be rooted d our works would be for not like under the law which does indeed say it’s all about what you do according to every jot and tittle of the law

“And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But the gospel says this way

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s not based on our performance it’s based on our willingness to come to Jesus alone and let him speak life into us so we can start taking steps out of the tomb and seeing the light shine

works are a fruit of faith but works can never achieve faith

The thief on the cross through faith, witnessed to the non believer. I wouldn't say his faith is work, but his witnessing would be.
This thief shows such a strong faith in Jesus's ability to take him to heaven.

I can't help but think about Jesus's feeling of being forsaken by God

Thank you!
How beautiful!
I never though about Jesus' feeling of abandonment ☹️ and lonliness.
Amazing Grace, Amazing Love!
