When I was watching church TV years ago I could believe all programs. As long as they were quoting scripture seemed to be satisfying enough. Besides why would they put a false teacher on TV? I was like that for years. How could I even disprove the Mormons, Jehovah Witness, and other religions etc? So I figured church TV is good enough to learn the bible God's inspiring word.

About near perhaps 7 or so years ago as a guess I started changing that way. No longer only isolated verses I read sections or chapters to see what these verses are really about. I realized then a lot of church programs I didn't agree with much anymore. The money asking and guilt scriptures etc . . You'll become stronger in your faith if one takes time for complete chapter study. At least read the whole main section pertaining to that verse. Before comparing a verse in other chapters make sure first the verse fits in the same chapter of its meaning before looking up other verses. By doing this you can avoid most church doctrine that's not being taught biblical as it's written.

One needs to know that the bible started out with no verses or numbers. People usually read the bible entirely which is better yet. . The devil can also try to war against you using bible verses with a twisted translation of his own. This is often called spiritual warfare . . Like the devil did this to Jesus in Matt. 4. If he did this to Jesus he'll do this to anyone. Read into random verses only as a study. I recommend to read whole chapters at ones own pace and understanding what God is trying to teach us . . Accepting only random means only God has a bit and only to say. Don't let God only play small parts. Let God play the main role in ones life whosoever reads the bible .

For I was once gullible and a victim believing in random verses. Most any religion could win me over. Not so much anymore with whole chapter reading. It's nothing new. It's just original and best way to read. Such even as your favorite book. You completely read that book and not skipping all over. Read the bible like your book. . Let the Lord God speak unto the ear of his people the full testimony of God chapter by chapter.

Your new friend chapter or aka ctc for short :)

Amen! Be Berean. Check it for ourselves and be aware of context. Most important, let the Holy Spirit lead us unto full understanding.

Colossians
1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

yep I read the whole KJ through 3 times in the first 18 months I was saved, then started on the RSV and then the Living bible.

For decades now I have read a chapter a day [sometimes spills over to 2-3 chapters] it's always fresh, so often there is something new.

Isaiah, Jeremiah, Psalms, the gospels and each epistle many, many times. :)

Welcome.
