I really don't know how many of you know this song, but I've known it for 49 years and I
have either sang it with others, aloud in open spaces, in desperation, in triumph, in silence, to my children and grand children, in just about every situation, along with the rest of the childhood songs I had learned, usually beginning with this song.

However, it's the first time I've done it this way to use in a thread on a chat site. If in anyway it offends your sensibilities in any manner, my apologies. There are 22 verses that I used in this one exhortation song and within the song a scripture sharing exhortation of my own choosing. We all as believers use scripture in our witness to others and most times without a Bible in our hands. I noticed, as I was putting this thread together, the countless selection of scripture available.

I wish I had known this song as a child, I was brought up Catholic in the days when Catholics did not sing Protestant songs [now praise God they do] such a simple song but so positive, no child would doubt but that Jesus loves them, He will wash away their sins and let them into His fellowship.

I learned it way, way back when a few of us used to go out singing gospel in the shopping mall. A woman came and tugged shyly at my sleeve and asked if I would sing that song for her, she used to sing at the Salvation army as a little kid and it always pulled at her heart strings although she had wandered far away from any faith in God she might have had. We were able to share with her.

I believe with all my heart folks get saved as little kids through such songs.

One of my sisters and I were sent off to summer Bible school from our overcrowded trailer home. I always looked forward to the Kool-aid and great big home made cookies.
There was a song I learned,"Jesus Loves Me," and the words to the song were my only doctrine until I was given to experience the entering of the Holy Spirit into my being about twenty-five years laster.
The Holy Spirit confirmed my faith and changed me. Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.

That truly says it all except for the sealing of the Holy Spirit, but that leads sto all in Messiah. Thank you for this wonderful reminder, and I have posted this twice before, but I wanted you to know. God bless you.
