How can you say "when it serves the purpose for when it was given" We are told of many ways we are to use the law, there are many ways to use the law unless you cherry pick scripture about the ways we are to use it. Psalm 119:1 even says:
"Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord."
this is the law of the lord
“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed
all judgment unto the Son:
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:22, 24 KJV
the law of the spirit of life but this is not the law of the lord
“
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions,
till the seed should come to whom the promise was made;
and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.”
Galatians 3:19 KJV
they asked
not to hear Gods word specifically because it was too much to bear they broke immediately the first commandment as Moses was receiving the tablets.
God then declares he will destroy them and bless only Moses but
Moses intercedes and saves them by entreating the lord and Moses then imposes his own harsh penalties on the people and returns to God again pleading to save the remainder of the people. Moses even puts his own salvstion on the line for them
God repents and doesn’t destroy them , but only because Moses interceded , instead he tells
Moses go lead the people into the land and my angel will go before you and deliver you , beware of him and obey
his voice , he will not pardon your sins , I’ve given him authority over you “my name is in him “
“And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness
?
….. Who have
received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.”
Acts 7:41-42, 53 KJV
But the New Testament isn’t based on
Mans transgression and Moses intercession . Gods authority given to an angel spoken through his own disposition , then to Moses who himself imposed judgements on the people , finally speaking to the people to the people.
it’s not the same as God himself fulfilling his own promises walking among mankind for a short time in Israel, Father , Son and Holy Ghost in One teaching and explaining and uttering his own word to
Mankind from God to Man calling them near in belief and giving them hope that runneth over if they believe
no angels mediating by thier disposition who are corruptible and no imperfect man mediating who is corruptible but
the disposition of God himself who willingly forgives the repentant sinners lifting them up again and not calling for their death sentance.
the New Testament is Gods promise come to pass wher as the Old Testament is for transgression and transgressors who have no repentance
“Knowing this, that
the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.”
1 Timothy 1:9-11 KJV
the gospel is the true law of God it doesn’t speak death to Condemned sinners but speaks forth life to the repentant ones who believe . The old works as a blinder if we try to make it our law and not see it’s witness of Christ whom would come and has now come and will Once more return
it can really confuse and hinder if we don’t understand it isn’t our law and more importantly it was fulfilled in the life and death of Christ
“And not as Moses, which
put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
But
their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is
done away in Christ. But
even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.”
2 Corinthians 3:13-15 KJV
It becomes a veil only if we try to insist it’s our covenant law or make it part of the gospel there are two testaments they have two words one by Moses the other by Christ
, if we accept the gospel of the kingdom we then can see how it’s a witness of Christ in the law and prophets
a witness that he was going to come and declare the truth later .
the law Is a great teacher in Christ of prophetic assurance that he is God manifest in the flesh and we’re meant to hear him who spoke Gods eternal words and be saved but if we can’t seperate
the law of Moses out of our understanding of God we will never understand him.
“For
the law was given by Moses, but
grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
No man hath seen God at any time;
the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”
John 1:17-18
“And we know that
the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
1 John 5:20
the law subverts understanding if we try to mix the two covenant words but to believe the gospel reveals Gods truth to any believer
