And in this case, specifically the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
“And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭

Is Hebrews 5:9 speaking of Jesus or Melchizedec?

I think that there is some confusion in that passage as to the answer; so that we cannot really determine which one it really is.

Melchizedec translates as King of Righteousness. He was also called the Ruler of Peace, or as some will say King of Peace.

There is only One that I know of. God bless all in the name of our King the Ruler of Peace, or King thereof.

Jesus is Hight Priest according to the order of Melchizedec; and some say that Melchizedec was actually a Christophany in the Old Testament.

After much examination of the scriptures in question, I don't see it that way.

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:14‬ ‭

“So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭5:5-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s why Jesus became flesh we didn’t have an intercessor

the levites we’re priests of
Moses law Jesus is not a Levite and could not be preists over the law being of Judah and excluded by the word of the law

“If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Even the priests were replaced , along with the sacrifices and the word itself To study the book of Hebrews with Moses law and the prophets answers all questions regarding the priesthood and law .

Hebrews is about the two seperate covenants from word to priesthood to sacrifices Jesus has fulfilled all of it and given the new

Hos 14:2, Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take
away all iniquity,
and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.
I wondered what "calves of our lips" meant  So I looked it up :)

It essentially means praise. The same phrase occurs in Isaiah 57:19, where it signifies gladsome gratitude.

the significance of the priesthood order presiding over is immense melchezidek was never a preist of Moses law

he in fact makes only one appearance in scripture and it is about 450 years before the law of Moses was added because of the transgression of the people. Melchezidek was the priest of God who blessed Abraham.

but when Moses comes and delivered the children of Israel Aaron is made the priest and the levites are proscribed as the order of Aaron and not melchezidek levites are written clearly without dispute the only priests of the law of Moses with Judah the tribe being excluded from Priesthood services in the law.

melchezidek is connected to the lromkse made to Abraham 430 years before the law was added through Moses and the leviticle sinful priests of the law of Moses took presidence there was something before the law was added that’s what the gospel is the doctrine that goes with what was before the law

under the order of melchezideks priesthood and the sacrifice of The lamb made from the beginning the law came afterwards and was only a loose prophetic pattern the levites priests are a pattern of jesus the high priest of melchezideks true order in heaven.

the entire law is a pattern of what is true and was before but it’s seen through the veil of sin over the eyes of fallen sinners Moses was shown a pattern of truth Christ is the reality of the patterns

“Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

…For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8:1-2, 4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the law was an earthly temporal carnal pattern of the truth of the gospel and the priesthood is just one element that was fulfilled in him the Passover, the sin sacrifice the sacrifice of atonement , the mediator of the covenant , he is priest , lawgiver , mediator , apostle and sacrifice of the new covenant he fulfills all Of it even the word

It is not a lie to say Jesus is Lord because he is Lord. Are you saying one may say Jesus is Lord insincerely and not believe he is Lord?
That is exactly what he is saying. Which also means that in general Christians must always speak of "the Lord Jesus Christ" not merely "Jesus" (who is a revered prophet in Islam, but nothing more). It is significant that after His resurrection, the apostles spoke more about the Lord Jesus Christ than not.

Yes; a verse to compare it to is Hebrews 13:15.
