Apostle Paul asked me "let me ask you this, did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
Why you changing the subject? We ain't talking about how to get saved: everyone already knows that. We're saved by grace through faith, not works.

What we're talking about is "Christian duty" aka "reasonable service" and why you antinomianists hate the idea of doing your duty, which Solomon says is to "fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man".

There's only ONE reason why people refuse to keep God's commandments; why they find His commandments so grievous; why they twist Scripture to teach "freedom in Christ" is "freedom to sin" -- one reason alone.

God will hold men accountable who have the plain teachings of his word, but disregard them and accept the sayings and customs of men. And yet how many are doing this! They reject the light in regard to the Sabbath, and trample upon God's holy day. Ministers and people, with the Bible open before them, show contempt for the words of God in his holy precepts, while they exalt a spurious Sabbath, which has no other foundation than the authority of the Roman Church. The claims of this spurious Sabbath are to be enforced upon the world. The Protestant churches, having received doctrines which the word of God condemns, will bring these to the front, and force them upon the consciences of men, just as the papal authorities urged their dogmas upon the advocates of truth in Luther's time. The same battle is again to be fought, and every soul will be called upon to decide upon which side of the controversy he will be found. HM November 1, 1893, par. 24When men are not willing to see the truth and receive it, because it involves a cross, they are opening the door to Satan's temptations. He will lead them, as he led Eve in Eden, to believe a lie. The truth through which they might have been sanctified is set aside for some pleasing delusion presented by the destroyer of souls. It is often the case that the most precious truth appears to lie close by the side of fatal errors. The rest that Christ promised to all who should learn of him lies close beside indifference and carnal quietude, and multitudes overlook the fact that this rest is found only in wearing Christ's yoke and bearing his burden, in possessing his meekness and lowliness. The great truth of our entire dependence upon Christ for salvation lies close to the error of presumption. Freedom in Christ is by thousands mistaken for lawlessness; and because Christ came to release us from the condemnation of the law, men declare that the law itself is done away, and that those who keep it are fallen from grace. And thus, as truth and error appear so near akin, minds that are not guided by the Holy Spirit will be led to accept the error, and in so doing place themselves under the power of Satan's deceptions. In thus leading men to receive error for truth, Satan is working to secure the homage of the Protestant world.

Jesus did not quarrel with the Pharisees because they didn't observe laws of Moses.

You say "reasonable service" Romans 12 says
"My brothers I implore you by God's mercy to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect"

This is living every day the inner Christ-life, He dwells IN US we learn daily how to lay aside self and allow Him to manifest Himself THROUGH US.

Trying to serve God by obeying outward laws is a backslidden condition.

I thought with the title of this thread...confrontation city.

I will say when I saw you saying that this was not intended to cause arguments but rather to bring clarity as to what and why seven day adventist believe what they believe, great...I am onboard for that because we should come together to reason.

I was just wondering...did the direction of your thread take you to your desired place? Do you feel you got some headway, that you might have opened a mind or two to the possibility?

Or even better, did you open your mind to anything new?

I am nondenominational myself! I just want to love my Lord and others, more and more, in action and in thought. I will need His help, desperately, everyday, to do so.

I dont really have a Bible question for SDA cos I can read the Bible myself

But I do wonder what is the deal is with SDAs and Weetbix. Does eating cold processed cereal out of a box have any basis in scripture?
Weetbix is whole-grain so maybe the SDA perfer gluten-free, at least in a physical sense. Regarding the gluten in wheat, maybe that's a spiritual no-no in the baking of bread, leaven or otherwise. I have never seen Weetbix on the grocery shelves here in the states. Maybe it's like Wheaties. It is my understanding that Wheaties is the 'Breakfast of Champions'. I believe that cereal is whole-grain too which may be problematic in regards to dietary constraints.

... very much the subject in hand beginning with the Spirit is getting saved ending with the flesh is the going on part. Since we are not saved by the law of Moses we should not try to live the spiritual life by it either.

There it is right there. You're a Judaizer who wants to enslave people to the law.
It is the law of liberty....
Jas 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Jas 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

"It is therefore the duty of the (Christian) people of God to keep the Sabbath."
Since the Christian Sabbath is the Lord's Day -- the first day of the week -- that day perfectly meets the requirement to keep the Sabbath. In fact, it goes beyond, when rightly observed.

Just answer a few questions for me: If I don't keep the Sabbath am I denying the creator? Am I essentially rejecting God's 10 Commandments? Do I have any hope of entering into a close personal friendship with God if I don't keep the Sabbath?

I have attended SDA Churches for a few years and will say this, the teachings on the t.v., and the internet from SDA teachers is better, than what you will get at the actual churches. There are many things I learned and appreciate, there are also some things I disagree with, and there are also some teachings that the SDA Church has that I'm undecided on.

With that said......

Matthew 7:15-20

You Will Know Them by Their Fruits

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

With this scripture in mind...

The educational system is a Christian school-based system. The Seventh-day Adventist Church has associations with a total of 8,515 educational institutions operating in over 100 countries around the world with over 1.95 million students worldwide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seventh-day_Adventist_education

They also run 168 hospitals worldwide, 138 nursing homes and retirement centers, 442 clinics and dispensaries, and 34 orphanages and children's homes. https://venetaor.adventistschoolconnect.org/about/adventist-history

Adventists believe Jesus was co-existent with God from “everlasting to everlasting” (Psalm 90:2). Jesus, the same “Word” that “became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14), is the eternal God who “inhabits eternity” (Isaiah 57:15, NKJV). https://www.adventist.org/son/

After 130 years of Adventist mission, is the missionary still relevant?

For more than 130 years of Adventist mission, many thousands of Adventist men and women have left the comfort of their homelands to serve the Lord in distance places. A strong, witnessing church in many parts of the world today stands as a monument to their success and dedication.

What about today? The reality is that Adventist mission is alive and well. Each year the church sends scores of missionaries to serve in many different roles around the world. These missionaries show God's love in many practical ways such as education, health care, Bible studies, literacy training, development and relief work, church planting, and leadership training.
https://am.adventistmission.org/adventist-missionary

The Sabbath was established at the end of the creation week—the seventh day—after God created the heavens, the earth, and the first humans. He “blessed the seventh day and made it holy” because He rested from all His work (Genesis 2:2-3, ESV). https://www.adventist.org/the-sabbath/

Seventh-day Adventists advocate a vegetarian diet — but it's not because of animal ethics https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07...dventists-advocate-a-vegetarian-diet/12485284

To sum up, the Seventh Day Adventist Church believes Jesus is God, have many Christian based schools, hospitals around the world to help the sick, have more than 130 years of missionary work, keep the law (Sabbath), and have a health message that includes diet, no drinking, no smoking, and exercise. My conclusion is the fruits of the Seventh Day Adventist is completely Christian. Yes, maybe I don't agree with everything they teach, but the Seventh Day Adventist Church is doing God's work. Probably the most underrated Protestant Church out there hands down.

Also, if you ever had Kellogg's Corn Flakes, you can thank Dr. Kellogg who was a Seventh Day Adventist, before he got kicked out. Also, Desmond Doss was another Seventh Adventist member, they made a movie about him called, Hacksaw Ridge.

SDAs teach the way a person has a relationship with God is by keeping the Sabbath. If you don't keep the Sabbath you have denied the creator and have the seal of the beast.

A group can teach a few things that are inconsequential and still not be apostate. SDAs core teachings are very consequential and heretical. You can put all the lipstick on it you want but a pig is still a pig.

Do you have a link to share that proves your first paragraph? Like I said, I have been to the Seventh Day Adventist Church for a few years, and never heard it explained that way.

I have heard a Seventh Day Adventist Teacher explain that keeping the Sabbath is like the Seal of God. Also, that the Sunday Sabbath is the Mark of the Beast, since the Vatican has taken credit of changing the Sabbath Day. They (SDA Church) believe the Vatican is the anti-christ. If that's how you translate it, than I'm not sure that's a fair translation, but to each his own.

As far as if the Vatican is the anti-christ, that's one of their teachings, that I haven't made up my mind on, as well as the Sunday Sabbath is the mark of the beast. I definitely will keep this teaching in the back of my mind, to see if to comes to play, but definitely not a fan of the Catholic Church.

I don't understand why the animosity of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, I think it has a lot to do with standing for the truth. If you do this, then you will be persecuted historically. How many churches have service on the Sabbath, what day did Jesus goto Temple on?

I saw Hacksaw Ridge a few years ago and toured the Kellogg plant in Battle Creek, Michigan 50 years ago. They were passing out complementary cereal snack packs at the end of the tour.

Advent Health is the largest hospital system in the state of Florida. My wife was treated at one of their Orlando, Florida facilities with a life-threatening condition. My late second wife was treated numerous times in the metro Orlando area by Florida Hospital which was the name before Advent Health. The services rendered at each SDA facility was always superb by the competent caring staff.

The Sabbath, whether it is observed or not is on Saturday.

I was born and raised a Catholic but have attended many Sabbaths SDA services. I don't agree with everything they teach either, but they are absolutely a biblically Christian church accomplishing God's work.

I agree with your estimation that SDA is probably the most underrated Protestant church.
