They do admittedly speak to my Celtic roots - though primarily Breton, and there are plenty of standing stones in Breizh, but not as cool as Callanish

My question would be whether you speak Breton which is still spoken in the north of the region as Gaelic is still spoken in the Hebrides? Both from the same root. I wondered about your comments to linguistics and asked myself if you were predicated from a bi lingual position. That neurological benefit is often an advantage when we first form our speech in infancy and may account for your interest in phonetic structures. At least that would be my supposition were you naturally bi lingual. I am still wondering what linguistics you are qualified in as a science of language. Can you tell us?

Ya, un tammig - but I can read it much better than I can speak it unfortunately. I'm more familiar with Gaelic and Welsh. English, Polish and French (Québécois) were the languages at home growing up.

My concentrations in Linguistics are mainly historical linguistics and phonology, but I'm also everyone's idea of a "linguist" in that I'm familiar with a number of languages both ancient and modern.

I sensed the Polish connection in your name. My attachment to Poland stems from the city of Krakow where part of my Jewish ancestry on the maternal side came to bear down into Scotland many years ago.

I can see why you struggle with tongues and why you default to a position of trying to see a phonetic implication in a spoken gift that essentially by passes the neurological language structures of the brain. I can also see why you would be honest enough to acknowledge that you are not born again - you would essentially have to have been raised in a Roman Catholic (language) domain grounded in languages that are dated to a time when the reformation hadn't yet happened and where the expression of being born again was essentially redundant to a Christian belief culturally- even if your family were essentially agnostic in their personal beliefs.

I was in Church from being literally born as a babe and growing up. I was the type of child that Others excused my behavior because I was a [PK - Preachers Kid]. When I was old enough to leave my Parents home, I went crazy for the next 20 years. I got involved with Self-Defense and drew Power from becoming involved with the Celtic Myth, the Tree of Life, the Awen. The people I dealt with were every type of Rebellious Sinner one can imagine. My skills got me involved in collecting money from the types of people that even the police did not care if they lived or died. I met people with "Merry Meet," and honored the Mother, Green Man, and Others. I once had companions who to this very day attend the Church/Temple of Artimus.

I said all of that to say this, unless it is cultural thing, the majority of people I met during those years who referred to terms like Celtic, Gaelic, and such, were practicing Pagans.

Which is why, after reading your post with terms like Celtic/Gaelic I wondered if You were, or was, a Druid.

Nova Scotia has a very cool Scots Gaelic tradition! I have strong ancestral ties to 'Acadia' (as it was called before the English/Scots got there). Some of my ancestors were the among the first Governors of French Acadia. Mi'kmaq is also prevalent there, but not as much as in the past.

I am very familiar with Celtic beliefs and traditions. I even know a few modern Druids, but I'm not one of them. Being an amateur folk musician with a concentration on Celtic traditional music however, I can relate to the Awen as a 'bardic muse', though it's more of a Druid concept.
