Hello. I'm a 19 (almost 20) year old male who continues to struggles with sexual sin almost daily. I've tried praying to God for help but I still masturbate just about everyday (usually every 2 days but occasionally everyday). I'm also struggling to move past a girl (who's 10 years older then me, don't judge please) that I had a crush on who's now dating someone else. I just want to find peace on this side of my life. I know I'm not perfect (and probably never will be) but this is the main sin that I know is wrong but do it anyway. I don't really lie, I try to respect my parents (though it's a little annoying some times), and I haven't really rejected God or done anything that I'm aware of that's morally wrong. Again I'm not saying I'm perfect, just that I don't really do much of anything that's obviously sinful.

The Apostle Paul teaches two things for you:

1) Stay single if you believe that you have received the Circumcision of Christ

2) If you cannot control yourself, get married! :D

I crave physical intimacy so I'd rather be married.
I hear you. Believe me when I quote additional words of Paul . . . getting married is not easy, and if you are determined to Love your God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength . . . marriage will prevent you from doing that. You will be divided.

1 Corinthians 7:28 NIV - "But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this."

Believe me, I understand the pull and attraction to sexual intimacy. This is a massive burden for us humans to carry. In Heaven, there is no desire nor need for sexual intimacy, thus this, too, is something that we must Endure.

For some reason, the Lord has Blessed me with the gift of feeling His Raw, Almighty Power, hence, my belief in the God of this universe to the maximum degree. The Powerful force of Peace and Love alone was enough to nearly kill me, thus I understand the incredibly reality of "no one can be in the full presence of the Lord and live." - Again, I understand the incredible desire for intimacy, but having had many sexual partners in this world, if you are able to keep yourself "bed" pure, you will be so thankful and so happy that you have spared your mind of wanting more, and more, and more. Once you have had one women, you then may face what most men face, which is, "Hmmm . . . I wonder what "she" would be like." The cycle only continues to spin more and more out of control.

Incredibly, I had a "baptist preacher" once tell me (80 years old, by the way) that if he saw a gorgeous young woman walk across the street and if he didn't tell himself that he "wanted" her . . . he would be dead. My "pastor" at the time, who told me this, was married. How would you feel if you were his wife knowing that this is what he felt in his heart for EVERY hot young girl that passed before him?

So when Paul said that not getting married would spare us of many difficulties in this world, believe me . . . he knows what he's talking about. I did my utmost best to serve my former wife and her three step-children, but all I received in return was grief and abuse. It was horrible, and consequently, I failed at being able to handle my role as a husband and father. It was shockingly difficult.

My friend, I hope that you will do your best to remain single, for to this we are instructed (read all of 1 Corinthians chapter 7). But if you must, well then you must.

Further, I would suggest that you make you that you understand the True Gospel of Jesus Christ and pray that if the Sinful Nature has not yet been cut away from your heart, pray that Jesus would do so. For only through Circumcision of the Heart will you ever have any chance at even remotely being relieved of this sexual pull and desire. Lust is a work of the Devil, and not the Lord.

There are no more important verses than the Seven verses of Colossians 2:9-15. You would be well advised to memorize these Seven Perfect verses more than John 3:16 or any other. They are life-giving; they are the utter core of the entire Bible. Now in my mid fifties, I wish that someone would have taught me these passages. And while I can say that I was attending church while within my mothers womb, throughout my entire life, no pastor be it in person, TV, radio, or any audio tape series I have ever heard (thousands upon thousands) no one has ever taught Colossians 2:9-15. We live in a corrupt church system that does not teach the Truth nor the Gospel. But I am offering the Gospel to you now . . . please take heed and escape the corruption of this world through the cutting away of the Sinful Nature and the subsequent replacement of the Divine Nature.

Colossians 2:9-15 NLT - "For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. 11 When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. 13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

2 Peter 1:4 NLT - "And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires."

And my friend, "these promises" are the Promises extended to Abraham per the discussion he had with the Lord in Genesis chapter 17. There you have it my friend . . . I have just given you the most amazing gift that you can receive on this planet outside of the Spiritual Gifts of the Lord. I have shown you that path to understanding the True Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I believe in you. You can do this! :D

Wow that's long..... But yeah I can understand that it's (probably) better to stay single. I just can't imagine myself living alone in this world doing everything myself. I can try to control my desire with the help of God/Jesus, but it's gonna be a LONG battle.

Yep, some of my messages can be long, but I believe that they are what you need to know (at this point).

And I hear you. I'm about to turn 55 and I'm single. This is not a good time to be alone, but I believe that I am to do as Paul commanded, which is for me to stay single, lest I commit adultery should I be intimate with another woman. I am not allowed to just jump from woman to woman, which is what I have done for nearly thirty years of my life . . . as of five years ago, I realized it was time to stop thinking of myself and to begin obeying the Lord.

May the Lord Bless you with the most incredible of Blessings!

The first thing I’m gong to do when I get to Heaven (ok, the second) is to seek out Adam. What the heck he was thinking, eating that fruit? Remember now - he was created naked, and woman likewise; and they ran around for God knows how long that way. It wasn’t until they ate from the tree that they thought it was wrong to be naked, and covered up. (Please note that it took both of them. But please also note, that it was the woman who initiated something we men then took the blame for ;) ). But really, Adam, man, talk about blowing’ it in Biblical proportions. If you hadn’t eaten that apple, Maxim could print pictures of women who are actually naked. And I'd be at the mall riding crowded elevators.

Oh that human body, that fallen flesh. God made it. All of it. Yeah, everything. Even that. And these. And here, there, and this little spot way under … giggle … All those wonderful nerve endings ... His design. Those organs, hormones and neural pathways, with the sole purpose of making you want to become one with another… His design. Born naked ... His design.

All of which has been screwed under satan's authority. That which was so innocent has now become so vile. And our flesh, like a leash, drags us into that villainy. But what can we do, even when it's not being tempted by satan - it's still flesh! Fallen and opposed to God. The only way to be truly free of it is to be done with it. But that's not a choice we're supposed to make for ourselves.

So the battle is not to try and be rid of the urges (as the Borg say, resistance is futile) but to learn how to manage them. You must have a plan. That includes confessing your failures, and asking forgiveness. When you submit to a demon yanking on your leash, you empower it over you. Confession is the way you break that. In God's mind, salvation forgiveness is a once for lifetime event, and the power of sin has no effect on it. But the power of sin in the here and now is that if you submit to an authority, you're submitted to that authority... until you rebuke it. So bring it before God, confess what you got dirty in (again), and pray the Blood of Christ be poured out upon and within you for the cleansing it brings in both spirit and body. Pray the Holy Spirit be poured out upon you as well, filling your spirit to be stronger against the flesh. Be specific in your prayers. And confront the enemy and his minions who are going to use that flesh of yours. They're going to taunt and tease and do their best to entice you. They've built a global society around it. Be aware of that, and like the verse paraphrases, if your HBO causes you to sin then cut it off. That or your hand, but I'd try the HBO first.

Know how I treat my addiction? I come here. I told myself that when I was tempted, I would come here first, and that if 30 minutes later I was still worked up I'd go ahead. I'm still here.

God bless you for fighting the fight.

My friend, our glorious Bible has all the information that you need regarding every matter and issue that you could ever possibly encounter in this worldly life. The answers are all within our Bible. Again, I encourage you to memorize Colossians chapter 2 verses 9 through 15. They are the foundation of our blessed and holy faith.

In battling against sin, our first priority is to clearly identify what it is that God considers sin and get to the root of it. Often, we are so obsessed and focused on the external act that we misidentify the act as sin without actually addressing the root cause of the issue. Focus on the external to the detriment of the internal leads us into legalism, which in itself is the highest form of sin. (ie: Thinking that I can make myself holy if only I avoid certain behaviors, etc.)

This was one of the major purposes of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7): the Jews had become so focused on maintaining the external practice of the Law that they missed the point of applying the Law to their hearts. As a result, the Law had become a stumbling block in their relationship with God because they thought they were doing everything right even though their hearts were still far from Him.

Always, the real sin lies not in the external act, but in the heart. Jesus said in Matthew 15:19-20:

“19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. 20 These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”

So in this case, the sin you are struggling with is not masturbation, but lust and impure desires towards others. Your body is driven by your mind and your mind is driven by your heart, so take two steps back in the process and focus your attention not on what your body is doing, but on what your heart is doing: What are you thinking? (mind) What are your desires? (heart)

And since the problem is not really masturbation, you will likely have these same desires at other times, not just when you are “doing the deed.” It is these times that you need to be vigilant with your thoughts. How do you respond when you see a beautiful woman dressed provocatively on TV or walking down the street? Or when you are hanging out with a female friend that you are really attracted to? If you tend to have impure thoughts at these times, immediately shut them down and refuse to go there – even saying “No” out loud if it helps – because THESE are the real sins. If you start training your thought life in this way, you will begin to see progress.

I should also note that many people’s response to the above situations would be to “Look away!”, “Avert your eyes!” but this is wrong also, because it is still focusing your attention on your external actions and not on your thoughts and desires. You need to be able to make the distinction between: 1) looking at something beautiful that God has created with appreciation for Him and His creation; and 2) committing sin by lusting after the creation.

The end game of holiness is not to completely shut ourselves off from all the beautiful gifts that God has created, but to be able to enjoy them perfectly while still honoring Him with our thoughts. Thus, if your mind is automatically incited to lust every time you see a beautiful naked woman, the answer is not to never see another naked woman. The answer is to nurture the spiritual gift of self-control by submitting to the Holy Spirit and training your thoughts so that seeing God’s creation does not drive you to sin. You never know when God might call you to be a missionary to a nudist colony or something. When the call comes, you’ve got to be prepared! :D

Well I know that lust is a sin and that my thoughts are apart of that process. So I'am trying to control my thoughts as well.

Always, the real sin lies not in the external act, but in the heart. Jesus said in Matthew 15:19-20:
Again I'm trying to control my thoughts as well but it's a little harder.

So in this case, the sin you are struggling with is not masturbation, but lust and impure desires towards others. Your body is driven by your mind and your mind is driven by your heart, so take two steps back in the process and focus your attention not on what your body is doing, but on what your heart is doing: What are you thinking? I'm thinking sex, But I (probably) desire love, affection, pleasure, etc.

Well believe it or not, but I've gotten good at controlling my sexual desires when it comes to TV/movies. I don't really think much of anything when I see someone on tv. I may get nervous or a little aroused but its nothing too serious. As for walking down the street, that's a little bit harder as I do lust sometimes but I don't really get out much (nor do I hang out with women) so it's not really a problem.

That's what I try to do, look away is the best I can do. And I understand the difference.

You never know when God might call you to be a missionary to a nudist colony or something. When the call comes, you’ve got to be prepared! :D
I wish I could enjoy the "beautiful things" that God has created without lusting, but its easier said then done. I'm hoping his spirit gives me self control so I don't have to sin, but so far that hasn't really happened until I just prayed recently. And even after prayer its still hard.
