Y'all know me, I never post serious threads, but lately I've had the fruits of the Spirit on my mind. According to the scripture, you can tell a Christian by their fruits. I sit back alot of times and watch the interactions by Christians on here, on facebook and in real life and I feel like sometimes we are a few fruits short.

Now with this being said, Im not saying we cant have emotions. I get angry, I get petty sometimes I get short tempered and I have to stop and ask myself.. "self, are you being gentle? Are you being long suffering ?? Are you showing mercy ? "

What I want to know is...do you struggle with any of these fruits specifically ? If so, how do you work on it ?

Just as a reminder.... here are the fruits

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Love you all ♡♡♡

Early this morning I was reading Chapter 6 of Proverbs! And v16 said "These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him". Then v17, 18, and 19 defined those things and for which I stood accused. I think there's nothing that so humbles a man as the thought of being a disappointment to someone he loves. And I asked God for his mercy that very hour.

As hard a lesson as these kind of moments are, I'm grateful for learning that the only person in the world I feel superior to is the one I was before.

It is so strange that you would ask such a question…..

I don’t believe in coincidence…. but I am thinking.... what are the odds of you asking that question and having the one person who epitomizes the fruit of the spirit in his walk and exemplifies the walk of resurrection perfection. …
I am not saying I am perfect …..well ….I guess maybe I am. I do intentionally make spelling errors ....and I frown once in a while to show others I have imperfections. But I would be interested to know what it is like to struggle with those fruity things and…just how you cope with it…..

Excellent thought, @Pipp
We are always hearing we are NOT fruit inspectors, which in fact we are NOT.
We have certain aspects of our life that are natural characteristics of who we are.
These things carry over in us after salvation and either God changes them through his word or uses them to win souls and spread the gospel.
Since I became an adult I have always struggled with gentleness and meekness. I had a very bad childhood and it caused a deep grained streak of defiance and obstinacion.

I have had a stern attitude of do it right the first time or do it again and again until you get it right since childhood.

Now All that is us before Christ isn't always bad and we've sometimes used these as defense, coping or protection mechanisms.

However NOT to excuse any traits, we as born again disciples have received the fullness of God in the father, son and Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes as a helper with gifts that will help us walk closer to God by the word.

His FRUIT is to be an integral part of us,and we are to YIELD to him for his functioning in our walk.

I know there are times I have exhibited all 9 fruit, then there are times I carried right on.....in my flesh.

My frustration at my own lack of consistently not bearing fruit of the Spirit I can only counter by praying intensely and being absorbed by the word.

May we learn ALL the lessons from the word that make us better than when we were a part of the world.

Pipp,

1645742164452.jpeg

(Only kidding)

On a serious note, we all are sinners, and we all fall short. When I struggle, I know God is awesome, and lean on Jesus for guidance and forgiveness. Our God is bigger and more powerful, than any problems we face. Well, that's how I get through the mental hurdles.

No sense in festering anger or mental torment, it does the body no good.

Prefer Skittles over fruitcake. lol

I am probably more like the stuff that gets thrown out while the fruitcake is being assembled...

All the pits and peels and cores and seeds nobody wants to have in their cake while they eat it, too.

:D

Do you know that the UNABomber was caught in part because of how he articulated that saying?

And here I was hoping that Pipp had discovered a way to add bacon to fruitcake.

Sadness. :(

To the actual thread topic...

I fail in gentleness. Deal with it.

The saying goes 'nuttier than a fruitcake' so there must be nuts in it. I have had a slice or two years ago but can't recommend it. Not sure what kind of fruit was in the thing but had the texture of gummy bears. Yeah, it's yucky.

The fruit in fruit cake is dried and/or candied... :)

Perhaps that is why it seemed like gummy bears :giggle:

Candied is a much better description than gummy bears. Personally, I can't stand gummy bears but used to eat an occasional Jujube which is sorta like an edgy jellybean. Gonna score some jellybeans at Easter. Also, I am looking forward to the 2022 CC pagan holiday threads.

I struggle with all of them. It makes me feel like a cheap Little Debbie instead of a lovely fruitcake. o_O
Some days I do better than others though. I think the one I struggle with the most is peace. Since I have anxiety, I tend to overthink and wonder too much to have peace. I need to work on it some more.

Pipp, I like to think of people who personify the fruits. It helps me to see the fruit in action. You are my pick for kindness. I have a few family members and friends online that also embody the other fruits.

I think hyperbole does not go over well here, but I hope you didn’t get hit by the lightening.

I am kinda picking up on that …It is sort of an inverse didacticism, which we used to call obdsecencio (totally made up word)….Nobody’s called me a jerk or ego maniac ………yet
