That table looks fine. During my single years I ate off a card table and sat on folding chairs.

question for tourist or any former/lapsed catholics...

Do catholics confess things only at midnight? I just wondered where the midnight mass/confession thing came from.
Actually, confessions were usually heard on Saturday afternoon. The Midnight Confessions was the name of the song I used in my OP at the beginning of the thread by the Grass Roots. It just sounded catchy.

oh ok

I never got the whole 'catholic guilt' thing

I was reading this novel called 'the husbands secret' and it was all about catholics . Every character was guilty of everything but not willing to confesss anything but carry on with a facade. Also everyone actually secretly hated each other and thought badly of other people...but didnt say so to their faces.

The husband carried a guilty secret he wasnt willing to confess to anyone except after his own death. Cos he was scared of going to jail if he did. So he just pretended it never happened.
Yeah, that's it exactly, 'catholic guilt'. Like you have stated, there are those that pretend it never happened as part of their facade.
