I think hobbies and interests are important. They make life interesting, but also make us interesting.

What sorts of things do you like to do in your spare time? Have you ever considered making such an interest into a full-time job? Do you have too many interests (like me), or maybe just a handful?

There are many things I like to do in my spare time. I play drums, guitar, and percussion, I build stuff with wood, I build models (1:72 scale stuff), and in warmer months, I play the occasional game of gold (badly). None are likely to become full-time pursuits, though I do hope that one day I will be able to retire and spend more time in the woodshop.

I do have many interests, though I don't understand this concept of "too many". ;)

I have at least a dozen, more than I have time for. I think even I was retired I might not be able to address them all satisfactorily.

What kinds of models are we talking here? What is the game of gold?

Lol... I need to proofread. Golf, not gold (gee... what was I thinking?).

Models: military aircraft and sci-fi ships (X-Wing, TIE fighter, etc.).

Well, let's see... stargazing/astronomy * TV (sci-fi, sitcoms, cartoons) * movies (sci-fi, military / action, animated, the occasional drama) * 80s new wave * collecting vinyl records * audio components * videography * museums * NYC sports teams (though not lately with all the kneeling) * following current events * reading (history & political science; the occasional novel) * writing (working on a blog and a vlog) * working out (though I have a weakness for carbs) * martial arts * traditional and CG art * computers * converting old recordings to digital formats * ancient history * spending time in downtown NYC (before the progs destroyed it) * socializing (I'm an extrovert) * deep, intellectual conversations * and I may want to get into electrical trains, perhaps to set one to run around my mobile home.

Look... you may have dormant interests that haven't surfaced or you may have some you haven't discovered yet.

You know, I always wanted to build some ST ships and put fiber optics into them, but I never could make myself get serious enough to complete them. I started with a Romulan warbird model, start poking tiny, pin-sized holes where the portholes would be, experimented with fiber optics, then put it down one day and just never picked it up again. Ugh.

I have a ton of interests but I'm not really in a good position to pursue most of them right now. I need more space if I'm going to start doing some of these, since they are hands on and space intensive.

I used to do a fair bit of distance running, which I'd like to get back into. I can't stand running on a treadmill, though. It's got to be at night, preferably in sub freezing temperatures, lol.

I want to get into gardening, hydroponics, fostering pollinators, and related stuff. But I need some land for that. Or maybe some planters. I did see some portable mini greenhouses online, which could start me out, but I need to finish my impending move first and it's just been delay after delay.

I love guns and target shooting. But it's expensive chewing through thousands of rounds of ammo, and range fees aren't cheap either. Back in the good old days I did a lot of shooting, not so much any more.

I enjoy game programming. It's fun, challenging, and fulfilling to finish a project. I actually have a cheesy little game up on Steam... it was just something I coded for my younger brother when he was a kid and he encouraged me to publish it. I managed to recoup my $100 application fee too with game sales. I could see myself doing this as a job, but it's time consuming and I'd need some kind of nest egg to be able to break out of the rat race and do this full time.

I'd like to build my own small vehicles someday. I have some truly unique concepts that could be revolutionary. One of them is a submarine tiny house idea that my brother and I were tossing around. Another concept is that of a "wetship" -- where water is actually perfectly able to flow into the hull of the vessel while retaining buoyancy. I'd like to try my hand at building an endurance aircraft as well.

That's the real human tragedy. None of us can reach our full potential. This world is too broken, our time too short.

Eh... we'll reach it in the next. And, we'll have all eternity.

I do not know what the "Cuties" fiasco is. I asked if you do because I am
always pleased to discover a well-done sci fi :D There are a few on Netflix :)
