I have a very fluid situation happening at my job at the moment and likely by the time this gets approved and posted I’d imagine the situation will have already been delt with. Boss threw me a curveball today. To summarize….. his mistake…. telling me to do something wrong and me obeying the boss cost the company 47,000usd damage against customers equipment. They are submitting it through insurance to cover. He pulled me into the office 10 minutes ago and gives me the “script” because the insurance agent wants to talk to me and I’m expecting the call shortly. Problem is his story is truthful except the part where he screwed up…. He bent the full truth of the story just enough and recolored it to make it seem like coincidence rather than our mess up. I know Holy Spirit is pushing me to tell the absolute truth. But I feel I’m getting hit with warfare about how I really need this job.
I wasn’t told directly to lie or that I’d lose my job if I told absolute truth but he tells me “this is the story I agree on and what the head boss agree on.” The only thing he said beyond that was to (be truthful) but I have a feeling by that statement he meant tell his version of truth to the insurance agent and not my own. I’d appreciate some prayers as I walk with God on this. Thanks.

If the guy who told you what to do, and caused such damages doesn't lose his job, I don't see why you would lose your job for being honest. Seems like if anyone lost their job, it would be the guy who screwed up.

I believe the Lord is in control. What you choose to do will be used by God for His Glory and Purposes.

If anything, you can always tell a future boss that you may not always be perfect, but you can be perfectly responsible . . . even if it means losing your job. The bottom line: You will never lie to a boss and this moment in time will prove that you are trustworthy, accountable, and reliable.

Tell the truth. The only one at risk of losing their job is your boss. You don't really work for your boss; you work for your employer.

It sounds like your boss gave you bad instructions, which cost the company $47000 but this amount can be recouped from the insurance company if labeled as a coincidence. Personally I will try to help the company recoup if possible, but internally if someone directly blames you (like the CEO) I would explain that the boss gave you bad instructions. If you don't recoup the money, both you and your boss may be out of a job (your boss for giving bad instructions, and you for not trying to recoup the money). However this is just me, if your conscience is telling you otherwise, tell your boss first that you cannot follow the script and he may try to remove you from communicating with the insurance company.

Keep in mind that that the formulas the insurance companies use are already set to work against you/the company. They are there to make money, not there to help you.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
