Everyone is aware that the two sins that keep everyone slaves to sin are sexual acts and drugs. If you could just work on removing those from your life ...you would receive HOLY SPIRIT Oil and see what i see. You will see the world for what it really is.

Catholics = damning multi-repenting (Sacrament of Reconciliation)

Protestants = either think they are not sinning, or that they are automatically covered, or that all they have to do is declare they are repeated willful sinners.

Both made up a story (doctrine) to avoid giving up their fallen life and picking up a cross.

They used CHRIST'S Name to sin ...it doesn't end well.

When he is sleeping is he dead?
My opinion is , if you look in the ot when thier body died , they were told they would “ sleep with the fathers” which tells me that their spirits went into a state of rest of they belonged to God because the resurrection hadn’t yet come.

in the New Testament the resurrection and life has come. Which changes death

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
‭‭John‬ ‭11:25-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

so we see this in the ot for Gods people

“And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.”
‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭7:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

his body was going to die and Return To dust , but we have also a spiritual body that doesn’t die in those days ot slept because they still had sin without Christ having provided his shed blood

even in the matter times of the ot when destruction to all was spoken , we hear this

“Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.”
‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

so after he rose you are this group who were sleeping from the ot and remembered in the book he was writing for those who believed
“and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:52-53‬ ‭KJV‬‬

there were others who were blotted out whose spirits wound up in the spiritual prison or “hell “

Moses said after israel worshipped the calf before the mount Sinai and Moses had interceded and saved them by offering his own life on the line for them

“Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin–; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭32:32-33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The New Testament isn’t like the old you have a group in Christ who hears and believes his word of life thier body dies but thoer spirit lives and goes to the lord not the grave with their body

and then another group who heard about the atonement but never come to know his word who in my view will rest like the ot until his return and face the last judgement refusing it now.

notice Jesus says “ now is the time “ and also “ the time is coming “ teo different times offering resurrection and life

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming,

and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So you have this for life now passing from death already

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:51‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And then this which is coming and Happens at the end

“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:28-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You have a living group in Christ who accept the atonement but also hear and believe and follow after his word which is mans judgement. And another who are raised here some of which slept in the grave with their body as the ot , and others were in hell paying thier dues having rejected the atonement and word of God

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭20:12-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I believe Christians either pass through death and enter the kingdom of heaven , or rest in those body until the last judgement . Remember he’s bringing some with him also when he returns

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:14‬ ‭KJV‬

“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

some rest others never enter the grave only their body rests

just some thoughts of my own though to consider or reject subjects like death we seem all have a different take to some measure

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

-Blood Sacrifice is leaven from the pharisees:

Matthew 16:12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Ezekiel 5:6 And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.

-Corruption of the covenant of Levi:

Malachi 2:8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

-Blood Sacrifice is not what our Father in Heaven wants:

Psalms 51:16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Hosea 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Matthew 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

Isaiah 1:11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

-Blood Sacrifice was not commanded by our Father:

Jeremiah 7:22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

-Blood sacrifice is "of fools" and evil:

Ecclesiastes 5:1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

-Blood sacrifice is an abomination:

Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

Isaiah 66:3 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
I guess the obvious question should be.

Are you saved because of Jesus Christ or are you saved on the basis of your repentance?

I thought the two major sins were the denial of Jesus Christ. And the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit?

Both of those sins above are unforgivable.

I think those two mentioned would be followed by selfishness, which is the polar opposite of loving others.

Then maybe self righteousness and sexual sins. Both are terrible sins.

How could I exclude greed and idolatry. Idolatry has to be one of the major sins in the Christian church.
Idolatry is seeking fulfillment in everything else but Jesus. Spending far too much time in other worlds other
than in prayer and scripture.

That's not even remotely biblical.
"Oh, woe is me with all these sins i refuse to stop doing. i mean, i could, but everyone else is doing them so why shouldn't i? i know, i'll just dig something up from man's doctrine that says i can sin ...everything will work out in the end ...or wait, is that what eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil is about?"

Your mistreatment of other contributors to this thread is nothing short of utterly despicable. There is absolutely nothing in your behaviour or your (very limited) understanding of Scripture to suggest that you are born again.

You need to repent and put your faith in Jesus Christ.

‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we need to hear what he was saying and let it into our faith

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3

infact it’s the first thing he said when he began to preach the gospel

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:14-15‬ ‭

Paul And the apostles taught repentance also with different words that seem to confuse many

“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death,

or of obedience unto righteousness?”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We need to repent but the way is to believe the gospel And let it into our faith it’s how we really
Come to repentance by hearing his word

“I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

his doctrine if we hear and believe and don’t reject it accomplishes repentance and righteousness in us . It’s when we make one verse erase the others that we begin not accepting it

You who say this do not know what is free-will, and how it is possible to be really good; that he who is good by his own choice is really good; but he who is made good by another under necessity is not really good, because he is not what he is by his own choice.
no one is good, but God alone
(Mark 10:18)

James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
be found in Him, not having my own righteousness,
which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ,
the righteousness which is from God by faith
(Philippians 3:9)

That is not how Perfect Justice works.
it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain,
that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow,
when He overthrew the cities in which Lot had dwelt.
(Genesis 19:29)

He will love those who keep His commandments
But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:8)
A new commandment I give to you,
that you love one another;
as I have loved you,
that you also love one another.
(John 13:34)

you are the only one who says Lot wasn't Righteous.
you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
(Exodus 20:16)

i said:

i in fact stated, Lot is called righteous.
where do you suppose i got that idea?
from God's own word. and it is true.
what, did you think i doubt it?? i am the one who affirmed it!

friend, you stand condemned according to works -
according to the judgement with which you judge me, you are condemned twice over.
you break the commandment, willfully, with full knowledge of what you are doing.
without God's mercy, you are damned.

who will save you from this body of death?
thanks be to God who is able to deliver you through Christ Jesus!!

IMO the two greatest - or at least most prevalent - sins are the breaking of the two greatest commandments, which are to love God, and to love your neighbor.
breaking these would be tantamount to idolatry ((loving something else as god)) and vanity ((loving ones self above others))
-- in the measure with which i perceive ((dimly)) to be the correct measure.

A very good reply.

True repentance, is that turning from unbelief into that belief in Jesus Christ.

Which is confirmed by the following verse.

Romans 10:13
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Many religions use CHRIST'S Name when they shouldn't be. The Church is The Body of CHRIST ...not their buildings and man's doctrines. The Reborn are pillars in The Kingdom.

Anyone using CHRIST'S Name to continue is sin will pay.

I have to agree with you and you have made a very good point.

After all, we have been commanded to obey Jesus and we were given the two commandments below.

1 John 3:23-24
This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. The one who keeps His commandments remains in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He remains in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
