Home...somewhere I feel welcome. Somewhere I can open up, relax, and be myself. Where there's a sense of unity. Where I don't have to explain that I don't like being alone all the time. Where stupidity doesn't reign!

I'm not attacking anyone; but I am attacking what I think is a false belief system. You attack Catholic doctrine all the time. Perhaps you should stop and consider the feelings of those Catholics you're attacking.

Anyway, have a blessed day.
Your attack is not against doctrine, it is much more insidious than that, you attack persons discovering their nakedness as Ham discovered the nakedness of Noah then you by implication transpose this nakedness upon all those who belong to the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement as though these flawed individuals were in any way fundamental to the pentecostal experience.

"oh" you will say "I don't understand what you are saying."

I'm saying you are a sneakthief

The Toronto Blessing was also known as the Father's Blessing. On that July day in 1994 when I walked into that Toronto-area Vineyard church, I had a powerful spiritual encounter/vision with my Father. I came away from it knowing that He loved me unconditionally and eternally. I was left with a deep love for Jesus and have never turned away from Him since. Though I stumbled a few times.
After leaving the Vineyard in 1998, I developed multiple chronic illness and pain issues and was deserted by the mainstream church. He has never left my heart or my side.
During the days that I was involved in this move of the Holy Spirit, many were blessed, though there were some who were deeply offended by it and made it their life's mission to destroy it. I've learned that when the Holy Spirit moves in power, this can offend the carnal nature, and stir up demons.
The Vineyard that I was part of, always had to endure attacks from some, though as I said earlier, when the Toronto church left the Association of Vineyard Churches and became Partners In Harvest, they gradually became something else and moved out of my life experience.
In the Vineyard, I received acceptance of who I was...an ex-hippie guitarist who found the church in general a bit foreign. For 3 years, the Lord not only used my guitar playing, He also anointed me, developing my singing and songwriting skills that I didn't know I had. And I was able to live a life where I was able to help others. We ministered the gospel to the poor and the outcast.
I thank the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for the Vineyard movement. As I have detractors who may say that as one of Hebrew descent, I'm promoting some kind of old covenant religion, God to me is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is who I am...

I am what I am, a child of the great I AM
By the blood of the Lamb, the Lamb who was slain
I'm precious in His sight, the apple of His eye
I am fearfully and wonderfully made...and so are you!

HEALTH:
I think it is appropriate, and healthy, to have "polite" debate about doctrinal issues.

PRIORITIES:
However, although the issue of continuationism vs cessationism may have been the most prominent issue 20 years ago, I don't feel it's the most pressing issue right now.

TODAY'S PROBLEM:
We literally have churches "deconstructing" the entire bible based on philosophical relativism - claiming that "object truth" either does not exist, or cannot be known. They are having "metaphysical bible studies", where they sit around, with big glassy eyes, and everyone just guesses at what a passage means "to them." People have done this for a while, but NOW it's with the explicit understanding that this subjective interpretation is the ONLY interpretation that exists... there IS NO OBJECTIVE MEANING TO THE BIBLE AT ALL.
The bible doesn't really mean anything at all... nothing... so let's just guess at what it means to US.

TODAY'S DESOLATION:
In this new and desolate philosophical landscape:
There ARE NO REAL DOCTRINES,
there ARE NO CLEAR MEANINGS,
there ARE NO PRINCIPLES OF INTERPRETATION.
There is just US... just US... and we interpret the bible in whatever blind and bizarre way feels good to US... whatever suits our views, our proclivities, and our predispositions... whatever suits US.

POPULAR:
This is what is POPULAR in the churches.
Because... this is what is POPULAR in the culture.
The culture, as it is ever prone to do, continues to infect the churches, in every generation, with some new and increasingly malignant illness.

CONCLUSION:
1.) It is good and healthy to debate, politely, doctrinal differences.... it's part of how we all learn and grow. It's good.
2.) Right now, for me, the charismatic debate is at the bottom of my list.
3.) Why?
The cessationist says, "our view is true", the coninuationist says, "Our view is true", the progressive says, "There is no truth., except how I happen to feel."

Take care everyone, and I hope you all have a blessed week.

.

Interesting. My sister and I were talking this week about progressive Christianity and what damage has been done to the church. My sister has been blessed enough to take two mission trips to Africa. That changes your entire perception of everything. I wonder how we win a lost world when we can't even communicate here. Disheartening. I think your post nails it right on the head, but I usually feel that way about your posts. Thank you for sharing.

Sad to say, this is always the tactic of the enemy and it comes thru our brethren often.

I think that's about all I have for now. Arguing further seems fruitless and pointless.

Love you and appreciate you for we are brethren in Christ who is our CHIEF Shepherd and even better = our High Priest.

Hey Kayla,

Please keep in mind that the underlying issues, the personal issues, have never changed.
People still have the same age-old problems of sin, self justification etc..

The modern change is that people are now increasingly confused.
The more confused they are, the harder it is to lead them through those age-old problems.

It is possibly that we have more and more people who cannot be reached.
I'm not sure.

Fortunately, with God, all things are still possible.

You guys do have the right to man up and quit taking attacks against your doctrinal stances personally.
We... have... the right to "man up"? Quit "taking" attacks? I'm afraid this somehow needs to be rewritten to be more exact as to what you mean.
As servants of Christ, there are certain "rights" we don't possess, such as beating those who do this at their own game. That requires manipulation skills to put him in his place. While some of us have these, we're not allowed by the Father, Son, or the Holy Spirit to use them, as they are part of the old man.
So, no sir, I don't have that right. What right I DO have is to expose such people properly, scripturally, because the Bible tells us as the church we are to:
Eph 5:
11Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. 12For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. 13But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, 14for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,
“Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

This exposing sometimes exposes the individual of his sin that he/she would have an opportunity to repent.
Other times it's to expose their works of darkness so we wouldn't be tempted to play his own game with him, destroying the reputation of the Lord who bought us as well as our own.
Nothing personal, but I'm not here to fight with anyone. I'm just trying to do what my name says. I name myself that to remind ME of what I'm here to do. I'm not already made perfect, but I am forgiven. I'd like to stay that way. :)

Yes, it seems people both inside and outside the church are confused. How can the blind lead the blind? I guess that we are just at the end of the age and our opportunity is getting narrower and narrower. We must redeem the time while there is still day. Humm and old song but can't recall the exact words at the moment.

"Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise", I experience the pleasure of the Lord more fully when opening a prayer with praise and thanksgiving, gratitude is a very important part of my prayer life.(y)
