First up, no denomination is approved by God. The only NT church that could be described as "Pentecostal" was Corinth. Paul rebuked them for starting splinter groups within the church. To me, that was the start of the first denominations.

The "gifted" church was also the unspiritual church. They also tolerated gross immorality. The meetings were disorderly.

Gifts can be counterfeited. The fruit of the Spirit cannot. I was a member of a Pentecostal church for 5 years. I know what I'm talking about.
Post #561 = my words: Now, we know that God does not permit denominational entry into the Kingdom of CHRIST.

You misunderstand who God is: Exodus 3:14-15

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

Elohim (God) also told Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the Elohim of your fathers—
the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob—has sent me to you.’
This is My name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.

The entire Church of Christ was Birthed upon the blood of Christ and the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.

Corinth was NOT the start of denominations and splinter groups.

The Scripture, in fact, tells us when this began and by whom.

Study Genesis, the Gospel of John and Acts.

The problem with Pentecostalism these days is the obsession with the Holy Spirit. Electricity is hidden in wires and it is seen only what it produces, such as light. The Holy Spirit's job is to reveal Jesus to us. The Holy Spirit's work is also to glorify Lord Jesus, as you have quoted. The TB glorified the Holy Spirit, immediately casting doubt on it's authenticity as being of God.
Follow the Lord Jesus Christ and the teachings of His Apostles (Peter, Paul, John, etc and the Scriptures)
Do not follow Pentecostalism.
I do not follow 'isms' and I hope and pray that you don't either.

No, I do not subscribe to any denomination or "ism". Denominations are a result of being ruled by the self of the soul rather than the Spirit. I do not demand that people conform to my position on various doctrines before I can have fellowship with them. I'd rather spend time with a live Anglican than a dead Baptist or Pentecostal. This I know from 50 years experience in the Lord.

The problem with TB and those like it is that they are usually non denominational. There is no overseer over the pastor, he's top dog. Sometimes there is a legit move, but it's quickly taken over by opportunists. Then there is no one to stop them from going too far.

My own home church saw this type of movement. It started out slowly and then we began to see things that were not right. We who disagreed talked to the pastor and his response was he didn't want to "steady the ark" even though he didn't totally agree with what people were doing. Before it was over we saw people barking like dogs, "birthing something spiritual" , line dancing, half of the church would fall down "laughing in the spirit". Attending church was like Jumanji people flinging themselves in every direction. Our main people were stunned by it all. Finally they were able to get this pastor out. People had come from all around to see the circus.

By the time we got rid of the pastor and all of his followers and had the main church back again, our people were devastated. It took years to get over the damage that had been done. I had known this pastor all my life and I hate to judge him. But when this movement came people packed the church to the doors and the money was flowing. I've been gone from home for many years and the church is still there today. That pastor moved to the city in another state and I've never heard of him since then. It was a very sad and difficult time for our church.
But the same thing happens in every revival, remember how the Charismatic experience tore churches apart.

What happens?

People hear about say Toronto or anything God is doing elsewhere, they agree with the testimony, they like it so they say "right we will have that in our church"

But they do not wait upon the Lord for Him to do. They go ahead with meetings in their own power and strength, what happens is sham.

If they would have only waited upon the Lord He does all things perfectly. The life of Edward Irving is a good education in this.

In relationship, not merely knowing or hearing about Him. Imparted Holy Spirit to another person yesterday, following the leading to do so.:)(y)

Your posts are personal attacks upon everyone on this forum who are connected with the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement.
I'm not attacking anyone; but I am attacking what I think is a false belief system. You attack Catholic doctrine all the time. Perhaps you should stop and consider the feelings of those Catholics you're attacking.

Anyway, have a blessed day.

Here are a couple of good videos on the so-called Toronto Blessing for those not familiar with it. In the first one Daniel and Robin comment along with the video. The second is a compilation of some of the "manifestations of the Spirit." This is what some people say is "of God."

Jesus is the answer for the world today
Above Him there's no other, Jesus is the way!
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being examined today about a kind service to a man who was lame, to determine how he was healed, then let this be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.
This Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’
Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
Acts ch4

NOTICE: the FATHER , SON and HOLY SPIRIT are mentioned together as a complete Salvation in these verses with the emphasis on the Name Jesus/Yashua = which translates Savior/Salvation

Forget the error you see in false manifestations and look at the REAL Holy Spirit in scripture.

Everyday quote this first half of scripture: "Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them"

Then pray to the LORD to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

But only do this in FAITH thru believing what is written or you will never receive what you are asking.

The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?
I, the LORD, search the heart;
I examine the mind
to reward a man according to his way,
by what his deeds deserve

I'm sorry but I fail to see your point. Can you speak more directly and condense it to one or two sentences please?

I have no idea how you get away with that hate you have for charismatics.

It is a spirit possessing you to mock and defame the body of christ.

You are sick sir.

Are you Pentecostal?

I don't hate Charismatics or Pentecostals either one. I hate their lies. What a person believes is up to them but if they're foundation is strong they shouldn't get knocked off balance every time a challenge to their belief arises. Apparently every other false belief system is fair game but when a challenge to a sacred cow like Pentecostalism comes along suddenly everyone's up in arms. Perhaps they've been given a free pass too long.

At least you're honest.

It is a good thing to hate what God hates and lying is one of them.
I also dislike and reject false teachers, false apostles and fakes and counterfeits.

Bearing false witness, reported. Come on CC, enough of this.
Guys, (and gals) no one has to like other user's opinions of their respective denominational beliefs. As best I can see ResidentAlien has consistently disparaged Pentecostalism, not individual users. I won't silence a Cessationist for opinions against Pentecostalism any more than I would a Pentecostal for views against Cessationism.

Personally, I think that strict Cessationists are dead wrong, but just as much, I think that many Pentecostal/Charasmatic denominations have created doctrines/beliefs based on relatively vague passages that don't clearly define themselves.
