Nostalgia...

Greetings. I periodically wax nostalgic, and lately I've been feeling in one of those moods.

I've been reminiscing about the toys I used to play with as a kid, my old 12", B&W television, landline phones with dials, audiocassettes I made of TV shows in the 70s, yada, yada...

These things I enjoyed as a kid. See if any of them bring back memories for you if you were young back in the 70s. Or, post your own.

I personally had the "Barrel of monkeys", the Lincoln Logs, the GI Joes, and if those stickers are "Wacky Packages", then I had those, too.

I was actually child number 8 out of 9, so we pretty much had our own toy store between us.

Dart guns used to be one of my personal favorites.

I remember these! Don't remember much what we actually did with them, though

I was always far more drawn to the "boy's" toys rather than the "girl's" toys.

For the most part, I found dolls and playing house to be a smore -- but the boy's toys had bright colors, cool working parts, and made loud exploding noises!

Makes me wonder if society would have pushed me towards any kind of "agenda" if I were growing up now instead of then.

But back in the day, I had one of these babies:




I would have preferred Luke's green lightsaber of course, but they were probably all gone by the time my parents got me one for Christmas.

These days I hear you can go to Disney World and buy ones that cost $200.

Yeah, but I was never really into them.

Dart guns ruled because my brother and I (and later my nieces, and nephews, and I) used to make forts out of Lincoln Logs, fill them with army men or cowboys and Indians, and then have an old fashioned shoot out to see who had the last man standing.

oooo lite-brite... you know they still sell that. Saw it in a local supermarket a couple of weeks ago.

I asked Youtube about the old My Little Ponies. Man, what a boring show...

Of course the half hour toy advertisements I watched back then were not much better. But we didn't know any better. That was the best we had back then.

I never watched the show...just had the My Little Pony dolls.
I DID watch Care Bears, though.
