The cross of our dear Lord shows Gods' love for mankind. How he patiently endured the sins being committed against him is remarkable. The abuse he endured without immediately bringing sinners into judgment is stunning.
The cross our sweet Savior endured also shows the hatred of mankind toward God. It's truly the epitome of it.

As long as we remembe it is the "work Jesus did on the cross" that is important. Not the two wooden beams He was cricufied on. The cross itself is symbolic but holds no power.

We are saved by the precious blood He shed on the cross, not by the cross.

:)

I see the cross as a symbol. It is symbolic of tragedy, love, and sacrifice.
I do agree with @p_rehbein. We are saved by the blood of Christ, not by the cross itself.

Indeed love the post . When we really see the cross how does that apply to our own life ? And how we treat others ?

“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us:

and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:16-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what Jesus did on the cross for each one is remarkable , amazing . When this impacts us in truth it’s meant to change us and flow through us to others in our lives who dont necessarily deserve mercy , or for us to Go out of our own way to help them.

we do it because Gods love for us has won our heart and so it flows as living water out to others not only in word and nice sayings but in tangible help in moments of need

we also as much as we are dependent on what Jesus did on the cross laying down his own self for us we are called to follow after what he did for us and Kay down our own selves for others

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when you look at the cross as you are it was Jesus actions of love sacrificial love towards us this was his cross. So when do we lift ours and start following him ?

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross
The emblem of suff'ring and shame
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown.

Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world
Has a wondrous attraction for me
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine
Such a wonderful beauty I see
For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died
To pardon and sanctify me.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true
Its shame and reproach gladly bear
Then He'll call me someday to my home far away
Where His glory forever I'll share.

We all knew some one would

Those words take me back in time to a little country church. Wooden benches, water cooler rattling on the roof not a perfectly tuned piano . I see the tears of Daddy glistening on his cheeks . So very thankful to have been raised in Christian home to grow up knowing my sins are forgiven. The wonder of always knowing the Lord His boundless Mercy and Grace . Praise to His Holy Name

So you can lose your salvation?
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:26-

Depends on who we serve

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey;

whether of sin unto death,

or of obedience unto righteousness?”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:16‬ ‭

the whole idea of faith and grace meaning now we don’t have to obey God or even if we keep sinning we’re already saved isn’t biblical actually salvation is something Jesus is bringing with him something we’re waiting for

“so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:28‬ ‭

we all have to do this and find out who’s saved

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if I’ve spent my life doing evil and saying I’m saved I’ve deceived myself

“But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

but glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:5-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

yeah if we continue serving satans Will of sin and believing we’re “saved “we arent hearing the truth gotta face God and find out his judgement

When we first believed and forever after. 😊
Yes especially after we hear about this duty and blessing to bear your cross and follow Jesus in the gospel

at times frankly the lord has carried me and I’m sure many of us understand what I mean if we’re of any age. Sometimes for me when I look back I was t able to bear anything but Jesus bore me when I was at my weakest

and then other times I learn to walk along side and follow after the lord, then I realize there’s a cross I bear each day and path ahead to follow. When ever I’m weary I remember Jesus is still there the same one who bore me when I couldn’t walk along.

the thing I love most about Jesus is he is personal to each individual , we have to let Jesus into our mind and heart and know him and have that personal relationship with him through the spirit , discipleship in this world even today when we come to accept Jesus word , we’re going to grow a lot in faith

“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting:

whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:49-50‬ ‭

“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:22, 24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:27-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:6-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10:27-30‬ ‭

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I can't even imagine calling the abuse heaped on him a "light burden", but that's what he called it. A light burden because of the love he had for all people.....even the guy who pounded the nails in.
It's stunning.
