Just to put this into perspective, 2,600,000 students get expelled every year. So yes, perhaps 1 out of 10 million will come back to attack the school in some way.
You know, when you make up numbers (or misrepresent them) it tends to cut into your credibility.

These numbers are from the National Center for Education Statistics

2011/12

3,172,403 suspended 111,018 expelled

2013/14 (Most recent compiled)

2,635,743 suspended 111,215 expelled

Thanks, I must have gotten my 2.6 million from this site and accidentally mixed up suspended with expelled.

The point remains, kids get suspended for bad behavior. If you are suspending 2.6 million a year then you can be sure there are 2.6 million write ups for bad behavior. In NYC the chancellor's regulations do not allow you to suspend someone on the first infraction and almost certainly not on the second either (with the obvious exception of a felony).

The question was that schools are "hiding" information about kids. It is true that schools do their best to get felonies downgraded and will lean on teachers to not require an assault to be labeled a felony. However, you are much less likely to put that much pressure to prevent a suspension. in my experience in Brooklyn kids got suspended frequently, generally for fighting or for deviant behavior. Unless you were the teacher making the report you wouldn't know about the reason, but you would know that this kid or that kid had been suspended and you needed to give them work to do while on suspension.

The Parkland shooting was from a kid who was expelled the previous year. Since as you have quoted 111,215 kids were expelled last year that means he represents less than 0.001% of students expelled. It should be obvious that it is common for a small percent of these kids to get suspended, let's say less than 10% over the course of their four years in high school, yet less than 4% of those kids wind up getting expelled. So these are some very bad behavior, perhaps the worst kid out of 1,000. Even so very, very, very few of them commit mass murder. The idea that one did therefore we should publicize all 111,215 and what their offense was seems like using a bazooka to kill a fly.

Contrary to what you might think these 111,000 are probably guilty of minor infractions. I had a friend who was expelled from his school because he had drugs. James Rubin grew up to to be the Assistant Secretary of State in the Clinton administration and is now married to Christiane Amanpour. Since he is a public figure this is all public information. While teaching in Brooklyn I met gang members, I called them "metrocard attendees" They came to school one day a month to get a free metrocard. No one messed with them and they had no interest in messing with anyone in the school. Those were low level kids. High level gang members would never waste their time for a metrocard. Also a gang member could care less if they were expelled.

Anyway my stance is still the same, the rules we have in place at school that protect the personal information of minors is not the reason these kids are shooting the place up. Drugs, broken families, porn, a lockdown and sitting at home on the computer all day, and the use of psychotropic drugs on kids are much bigger issues.

And again how does an 18 year old getting expelled or bullied in school even end up explaining him going into an elementary school and shooting 3rd and 4th graders and teachers he was never effected by? Maybe we should go back to square one and point out that he didn't get expelled from 4th grade,,,and none of the children he killed bullied him nor did the teachers he shot expel him. He simply walked into a school where there was absolutely nothing he saw that might threaten his manhood and shot them.

It's not rocket science that he did not go nuts on a well armed Army base. He didn't choose to begin by committing a small crime where multiple law enforcement agencies might respond and try to shoot it out with them. Instead he chose a group of completely defenseless targets because he measured up his own actual abilities and made the choice to attack those who were 100% incapable of defending themselves.

This is exactly the same as all of the mass shooters in that they know that they are cowards who are afraid to do this if there is anyone present that might end the situation. All of the mass killers go where the defenseless are gathered,a theater,a school or an island in a nation where guns are illegal ect.... They are all cowards and follow the same pattern so your only defense is to protect the places where the unarmed gather and the weak frequent. It's really that simple in that all mass killers prey on the weak and defenseless because they are cowards. Eventually they will all be famous as such,,,or at least until we wise up and make those targets not so easy for them to admit cowardice to themselves in...

You are confusing the Parkland shooting with the Texas shooting.

Well, what is clearly not rocket science is that the guy who did go nuts on an army base is different from the Parkland shooting which is different from the Texas, different from Columbine, and different from Sandy Hook. At the moment we have no idea why he stopped his car where he did. We also know he got into a shootout with a security guard outside the school and that may have influenced everything else that happened.

This is exactly the same as all of the mass shooters in that they know that they are cowards who are afraid to do this if there is anyone present that might end the situation. All of the mass killers go where the defenseless are gathered,a theater,a school or an island in a nation where guns are illegal ect.... An open back door...
Well that's easy. Unfortunately, the ills we must take to prevent crime is very costly and demanding of time but the cost of teaching Biblical morals is free and the time is given from child to adult. We know most of the ills of society are due to immorality and going against God's design. For example, marriage. Most of the ills we see are from broken homes.

This reminds me of some bizarre horror film/comedy where you are told throughout the movie that some hidden monster is out to take over the world and will take away your guns so you can't fight. Then this insidious monster is able to infect the brains of children like a parasite and then cause them to become these mindless zombies that go and kill a bunch of people. Then instead of the authorities thinking "we have to fight these insidious mind altering monsters" the thought is we need to outlaw guns. That is when you discover that these monsters have already infected the minds of the authorities, like the punch line conclusion to a good Alfred Hitchcock movie.

Money to secure every school in America--------------
We just gave Ukraine another 40 billion dollars.
That would be over 100 million for every school in America.
Think about where the governments priorities are!!!

we have about 50 million school children enrolled in school. https://nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/display.asp?id=372

This would amount to about $800 for every kid in school, a one time payment.

According to this site our average expenditure for each kid in school is $14,891 per pupil https://nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/display.asp?id=66

That would be a 5% boost to the school budget, a one time thing for one year.

Do the math
100,000 schools share $40,000,000,000.
That buys a lot of security.
Why not spend it on our kids instead of giving it to fight a war?
You should run for office as a Democrat.
You seem to agree with their thinking.

was the shooter in some sort of gang?

had worse in nz with chch mosque shootings but that guy the police didnt shoot him, hes in jail apparently, unremorseful. but at least no access to guns in jail. he was in a gang, like a white supremacist gang, acting alone but he was in some nutty online group

in nz there is restricted access to guns but not everyone has them or needs them

at my school we have a gate and its fenced off but if anything like that happened the children actually dont have many places to hide - thats the thing with schools they make it too open plan which makes children easy targets

I have tents in my library and hidey holes

just recall the proverb
when you see an evil, the prudent man hides but the simple pass on and are punished

I think a lot of ppl are just ignoring the evil that exists out there rather than taking appropriate measures or they are trying to eradicate the evil but they cant without becoming evil themselves and then more evil springs up

if ppl want to shoot things, go for tin cans or photography or something not killing children and teachers ugh

None of these cowards should be arrested.
They need to be carried away in a body bag.

Really, based on providing a couple of relevant facts? I have 10,000 posts, but based on this one post you can discern this?

OK, let's address your questions

1. https://www.edweek.org/leadership/e...ols are there, for Education Statistics (NCES). According to this source there are 130,000 schools

That comes out to $307,692 per school.

2. According to this source https://www.careerexplorer.com/careers/police-officer/salary/ The average salary for a police officer nationwide is $50,000. So this will get you 6 police officers per school for 1 year. No doubt enough to bolster the security of every single school for one year.

3. Your question about spending the 40 billion on this instead of the war is a day late and a dollar short. That bill is already signed, sealed and for all I know delivered. But let's forget that, instead let's say if we can spend $40 billion on the security of Ukraine why not spend $40 billion on the security of our kids.

So as someone who worked in the school system in Brooklyn, NY, and who has seen a number of kids knifed, shot, and killed while there (though they did not make the national news) I think I can speak for the 400+ kids in that school and their parents.

I saw kids get into fights in the school building but I did not see or hear of a single kid in this building (2,000+ kids and 5 schools) who was killed or shot. I'm not even aware of anyone being knifed in the building. If you gave our school $307,000 we would not want to pay for 5 extra police for one year, that would be a huge waste. We would want to pay for after school programs. What you are ignoring in your little soapbox is that the real danger our kids faced daily was having to go home at 3 to an empty house. They would get jumped and knifed in the subway, not in the school. But that is OK, something happens in a small town in West Texas which I have never heard of (and I lived in West Texas for five years) and now you want to impose a $40 billion dollar bill on the entire country regardless of what each school wants or needs? No my friend, you are the one who sounds like the Democrat.

I would spend the money on books

children need books

Ive read that some schools in the US dont even have a library, I was thinking how was that possible? no wonder children failing dropping out without knowing basic how to read and write

I reckon if the weapons manufacturers just sold flower bullets and not the ones that kill and hurt ppl
might cut down the number of deaths

like nerf balls...or they just call them blanks? in the movies I think thats what they use, but they never say in the mvoies its fake blood and nobody was harmed
