Ladies, just want to share the qualities of a godly man based on the scripture :)

In 1 Timothy 3:2 says, A man should be..

Sober-minded
Self-controlled
Respectable
Hospitable
Able to teach
NOT a drunkard
NOT violent but gentle
NOT quarrelsome
NOT a lover of money.

In addition, a man who has his focus upon walking in obedience to God’s Word and a man who seeks to live so that his life brings glory to God. We must be surrendered to God's will in our lives when looking for a godly man.

In Ecclesiastes 3:11 it says, He has made everything beautiful in its time. Be PATIENT, WAIT and PRAY!

God bless LADIES :)

It disturbs me when someone tries to make scripture say something that it clearly does not. Albeit I do not argue that godly men should have those qualities, the passage clearly says that those are the qualities of an Overseer (Elder), not laymen.

Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. 2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full[a] respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

Oncefallen got first reply? He never gets first reply. He approves new threads so he's in prime position to reply first, but he never does...

This must be serious! o_O

Often when I'm screening threads (even when the topic is of personal interest) I don't have the time because I'm either screening threads before I run out the door to work, or in the evening before I start working on writing bids, invoices, etc. (the joys of being self employed).

Hi Oncefallen. I'm sorry if it disturbed you. You can delete this post and it's fine for me. Thank you.

Thank you for your kind comment. Just want to let y'all know that English is my secondary language. I'm not an expert in English and I apologized for posting unclear text.

Yes! I agree with Oncefallen that those qualities are for an Overseer because that is what my ESV bible says. I think what was missing in my post was, those QUALITIES should grace the lives of any man who walks “after God’s heart.”

The qualities can be paraphrased as follows: a man should be patient and controlled in his demeanor, not filled with pride but of sober mental attitude, able to master his emotions, given to graciousness to others, able to patiently teach, not given to drunkenness or uncontrolled use of any of God’s gifts, not prone to violence, not overly focused upon the details of life, but focused upon God, not apt to be a hot-head or be thin-skinned so that he takes offense easily, and grateful for what God has given, rather than envious of what gifts others have received.

I will tell you a short story. My sister married an unbeliever. Her husband is a drunkard, violent and quarrelsome. Whenever they fight with small things her husband will break everything he sees. There was a time he poured out gas inside their house and try to burn it. There was a time also that her husband would send her text messages that If she will not reconcile with him, he will kill my sister and my niece and then he will kill himself. I am continuously praying for their family that God will make a way. That God will touch his husband's heart. Praying that He will receive the light of this world which is Jesus Christ.

Yes! I agree Gojira, that some of us doesn't have BEAUTIFUL life, like my sister's. Just want to let women know to be more dependent to God when choosing a man. In HIS will alone, we trust.

That's all I can say. God bless!
