do you read the Bible and say to yourself, i am a child of God just like the people i read about, so i should see the same results i read about in the Bible?
Yes, I'm a child of God through Christ Jesus, like those we read about; but the comparisons can be taken too far.

A lot of what's in the Bible is descriptive but not necessarily prescriptive. It's a huge mistake to think otherwise. Peter walked on water. When was the last time you tried that? If not, why not? It's in the New Testament. Don't you want the full NT experience?

peter walked on water because he saw Jesus and said, if you are Jesus tell me to come to You. his circumstance is much different. if we saw God walking on the water and He affirmed Himself to us and we asked for Him to ask us to come to Him, we would.

but i am talking about people being healed. i am talking about using the Faith God gives to each one of us. i am talking about if the Bible is true then it will repeat the same results over and over as we believe in the Word of God.

I'm not sure I follow your logic. First you say Peter's circumstances were different, then you say the Bible will repeat itself over and over if we believe. Peter walking on water is in the Bible. Why isn't that repeatable?

peter visibly saw Jesus and asked if it was Him to tell peter to come to Him. we won't ever be facing that same circumstance. but if we did ever see Jesus walking on water, we would be able to walk on water as long as we keep our eyes upon Him.

the Bible repeats itself in the God's Word is true. that people are still being healed by the Name of Jesus. that Faith does remove obstacles before us and keeping us from doing the Will of God.

tell me, is Jesus leaving the right side of the Father to be seen walking on water so we can do as peter did?

GRACE_ambassador's original post asks if we need supernatural abilities today. There's no question Yahweh works miracles today, not through the medium of miracle workers but through prayers of faith.

The apostles raised the dead; it's in the Bible. When was the last time you raised the dead?

how does a prayer of Faith work?
don't we lay hands on the sick and believe they will be healed by God?

in the Bible the person had recently died except Lazarus. so if a person recently dies i believe they could be revived. but i wonder how much Faith would be required to revive someone already in a casket, organs removed, and embalmed?

Are you not aware that Paul was working miracles while preaching the Gospel, yet there were specific instances where he could not do any miracle and relied on prayer? What was the purpose of working miracles? That is the real issue. Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know (Acts 2:22) "A man approved of God" would also be applicable to each apostle as he preached the Gospel.

i am aware. when i am asked to pray for someone or something and it does not happen i believe that was God not wanting it to happen. but if the miracle does happen, it is because God wanted it to happen. either way, it's because of what God wants to happen. but if it happens or not, i believe it will happen. i know there's a reason why God wants it to or not to happen and that is not for me to ask why.

Fair enough. But something to keep in mind is that while Jesus of Nazareth was on earth, He did not refuse to heal a single person who came to Him. Indeed He healed many who did not even believe on Him or come to Him. And He healed multitudes who simply touched His garments. Then we have the feeding of the five thousand and the four thousand. Even the disciples did not believe that Jesus would do these miracles simply out of compassion for the multitudes. So Christ's miracles were probably on a daily basis, and involving more than one person.

You do not need any supernatural ability for that. However, you might want to talk to a shrink.
My late father-in-law asked me once why I do the things that I do. I said, "I don't know Dad. I'm not a psychiatrist."

Amen!
but i wonder when people are not healed whoever prays for them if sometimes God is reminding us we are not God. i know when someone is healed i get amped up to pray for others. but God knocks me down because in my eagerness i can be foolish and forget this is all about God and never about myself. and that actually helps whenever i am asked to pray again. but what is odd, i always know it is God doing it. but evidently i am becoming too confidant or full of myself because there are long periods before i see God do anything.

To get a good night's sleep.
I take a "high potency" B complex vitamin.
Make sure it says "high potency"....I usually just buy Nature Made brand...they aren't expensive. But one of those a day helps with cognitive and nervous system function and your skin. Also helps delay aging of your brain.

And I sleep like a rock every night. For about 6 hours. Then I'm ready to get after it. I had my DNA snips sent off and compared to pub-med research. (Government funded medical research)
That was where I learned I have a genetic issue metabolizing B vitamins....and that supplement really has helped me. Eventually I'll have to do injections...but that's not for 20+ years.

My mother takes Sam-e or melatonin for sleep (cant remember because she is a hypochondriac) ....she says it helps her.

i prayed (put my hands upon their head) for people going through these trials and they told me the results later on.
Reminds me of Jimmy Swaggart or was that Jim Bakker, or Cerullo .. way back to A.A.Allen
