I'm new here. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!

And, if anyone can answer the below, I'd greatly appreciate it as I can't find the answers:
(1) If I type a reply but decide not to post, why does my draft continue to reappear at the bottom of the thread even if I clear it out?
(2) How do I reply to another poster's individual statements (within one post) instead of the entire post? e.g. if I wanted to quote #1 and reply, then quote #2 and reply

Thanks in advance!

First, hit REPLY on the post you want to quote. Then, highlight what you want to keep and delete the rest. You can insert your own writing too within the quote. To make it stand out, use a BOLD setting or a different color. Be sure to leave Quote boxes at the beginning and at the end of the quoted post.

When you clear the draft perhaps delete it instead of using the backspace key. Just takes a little practice and trying different things to see what works for what you are trying to do. Glad to have you onboard with us.

Welcome to CC.

Thank you, I'm testing to see if it works! Well looks like I'm able to reply within the quote (thanks for tip to change to bold but still not sure how others are quoting single statements and replying. Then quoting (separately not within the main quote) another statement and replying. Will continue to mess around with it, but your way works fine.

I only see the options to post reply or preview. Don't see option to delete draft, which is why I backspace. Will eventually figure it out, hopefully... lol

Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

Thanks, happy to found CC!

Hitting reply quotes the post. Typing inside the box hides your response inside the quote box, as happened to you above. Typing beneath the quote displays your response outside of it, as how my response appears to you.

Your unsent messages not clearing is purposeful. If there is a problem it holds what you've posted for a time so you don't lose it.
The exact way it works has been unclear to me. Sometimes it holds things a long time, other times not beyond a few mins.

Hi - Thank you, good to know about the unsent msgs!

Re: the quoting of posts: I'm managing as I now have two ways to do it --within the quote (if I want to address single statements separately) and under the quote.

But, there's something that I saw on another thread where many members were quoting a single statement (in a box showing the blue line on left side), then the reply. Then, there would be a separate quote (again in the box with blue on the side) with a reply to that specific statement. Not sure if that makes sense, but I'm good for now, I'll figure it out... one day. :)

Hey Tourist, is there any way to turn off that super-annoying spell-correct on this site?

Well looks like I'm able to reply within the quote
If you want to reply to every or most points individually, begin by quoting the whole post
with the REPLY option, and then, after each point you want to separate and respond to
individually, insert the end quote tag before beginning your response to that part of
their post (which looks like this [/ quote] but with no spaces).

THEN you have two three options to deal with the remaining points you want in quote tags:

Enter [ quote] (but with no space) at the beginning of the next part you wish to isolate,
and put the close tag [/ quote] (but with no space) at the end of that point before beginning
your response. Always make sure the quote tags are complete by placing your cursor after
the closing tag. The second option is similar but probably easier, as you simply highlight the
next part you want quote tags around, and use the Insert option from the icons above the
message box. "QUOTE is the second option from the drop down of the icon, near the center
to the right of the smilie face icon. It is three dots with a downward pointing arrow.

This is what you will get:

answer

Or you can copy and paste the beginning quote tag and close after each point:

********************************************

You can simply delete points you do not wish to address.

Make sure when finishing that the number of opening tags is the same number as the closing tag number.

You have a five minute edit window to help you clean up formatting errors, spell check, and etc :)

If too much work is needed to fix to your liking, copy your message,
then delete it, and copy into a clean message box to start over :D

Thanks so much, that's what I wanted to know! :)
You are welcome :) You can also reply to more than one post at a time, though if you do this it is probably best to quote
only one person, and make sure you leave each opening quote as is so that the link goes back to the proper source :)

Hi- Thank you, and God bless you, too! :)

You are welcome! :)

Hello and welcome.
I like your user name. To me it looks/sounds like a play on words saying "born again".
Is that what you intended, or is there a different story behind it?

(1) If I type a reply but decide not to post, why does my draft continue to reappear at the bottom of the thread even if I clear it out?
At the top of your typing box ( on a computer/laptop- I don't know what it looks like on a phone) is a tool box bar.
If you click the floppy disk icon near the end the drop down is like this:
Screenshot 2022-07-24 8.30.04 PM.png

you can "save" and it will keep what you have typed in the reply box for that thread (and I think as someone mentioned it automatically does sometimes too without telling it to do so, but for long or important stuff I recommend making sure you personally save it)

And to get rid of it I have found the best way is to delete what was typed, and then click the "delete draft" just to make sure it fully did delete, otherwise you come back and have all this stuff typed out that you might not want.

And also if you ever need tech help, on the main forum list at the bottom is a tech support forum.

Lot's of interesting, helpful stuff around in there.

After deleting a draft you have to give it time to do so in order to complete the request :)

A longer draft will require more time to delete. Same with saving: longer equals more time.

Simply wait a few seconds before navigating away.

Another helpful icon is the last one on the right that looks like a gear/cog, especially if you are copying a message with various colors, fonts, sizing, or any other font enhancement, because simply copying may not (and likely will not) transfer all the differences. So when you toggle BB code, it shows all the coding, and when that is copied as is, you get an exact replica of the original message with all the color, font and size changes etc displayed as desired. Something else to keep in mind is that copied messages do not carry over images posted from member devices. A numbered link is provided instead which has to be clicked in order to see the image. If you wish your image to transfer, or are wanting to post an image in a PM, use an image host such as postimages.org - they do not require registration, allow for resize on upload from device or other (allowed) websites, and will not delete your image or limit its viewability in any way such as how photobucket does (or used to). It does give you a link so you can delete at any time (make sure to save this if you want to post something for a limited amount of time only, beyond the five minute edit). If you are quoting someone's post from an earlier page and want their image to display, quote their post and then preview it with the number code, open the image from the original post by right clicking to view, copy the christianchat url, and insert in place of the number code. You must also change [ ATTACH] TO [ IMG] AND [ /ATTCH] TO [ /IMG] :D Newer devices may not require this work-around to display images uploaded directly from other member devices
