I dont understand your comment about him stopping his love for his kids just because he has their names tattooed?

You will be very happy that you didn't do it when you are older and more mature. We change over time. We look back and shake our heads at how we used to think about things.

I am of the opinion that they give a negative first impression.

Even if they are a nice message they still look like they belong to a "culture" of sin.

Men think they make them look tough and intimidating.

Women, I don't know what they are thinking, but they need to know it gives a "I'm not a pure girl" vibe.

I think they look dirty, ugly and gangster or some kinds look military, but like tough guys.

I think most people see them that way. I think most people even those who get them think they look more evil than Godly but that is the look they are going for. A tough person image. Like don't mess with me image. And so why would they expect people not to "judge them" as being of a certain type of "culture?" That was the look they were going for when they got the tattoo.

I could say a lot more but I would make people that have them feel bad and I don't need to do that. I am only answering for the sake of those who don't have them and are asking what I think about them. DON"T DO IT. You'll wish you could go back to less "war torn" look and you won't be able to.

And women especially will regret them. It could cost you many potential dates from the guys who would be the best kind to marry. Tattoos are a deal breaker for MANY mature men with money and good careers.

Tattoos are relatively inexpensive going on....it's the coming off that really gets expensive.

Someone asked me a long time ago, why do we celebrate the dead? And I said we dont (meaning Christians) but his point was that having a wake for the deceased, visiting the cemetery etc are part of the cult of the dead. It made me think, is this what I am doing by wanting tattoos of my dead parents writings?

I think God is more concerned that His laws be tattooed on our hearts, metaphorically speaking of course, and that we live by them.

I don't think He is happy if we defile His handiwork, which includes our outer skin layer. I would counsel anyone, and particularly a Christian, against getting anything etched into their skin.

Thank you for that. Im finding your posts are really making me think, as opposed to doing the thinking for me Will these tattoos glorify God? Thats what it comes down to right? And I think I really have to question that even if the tattoos would be deeply personal for me.

I think it's honorable to remember your parents. I have an awesome Dad in heaven right now that I think about all of the time.
I have not sold his furniture as it reminds me of him when I use it. I keep his letters in a locked box that's convenient to open any time I want to reminisce. I am writing a book about him. The rough draft of the biography is probably long enough, but I keep adding hand written chapters that I'll eventually publish, Lord willing and I'm still around to do it.

I now see as you are the original poster since I found out and went back to read the first page. I posted some heavy videos on tattoos. I doubt if we have forum members anything like the extreme examples featured. Certainly you aren't being Satanic. However, I certainly hope that any teens reading this will be warned against body mods and tats.
It could possibly open the doorway to desensitize them to allow the mark of the beast, the number of man. Japanese pop culture already has done this to teens and children.

It's not my place to tell you what to do. If you go ahead and do that, it's your business, not mine. I neither condemn nor justify what you do. I think that the Bible speaks to believers about marking the body as in Leviticus. The only place I can think of the Lord's name marked upon His people's foreheads in Revelation. He does that, but I don't know what that will be like.

Tattoos have no bearing on their eternal destinies, BUT someday they will. I can point you to the World Patent and it's a type of tattoo. What you want to do is not that.
However you decide to remember your parents writings is your choice.

My only desire is that everyone who wants to, will be 100% assured of seeing the Lord and our loved ones in heaven.

That is good, and even if you do not find the answer you seek, you can find alternative ways to remind you of your parents. Get the letters framed and hung in a place you will likely see them every morning. Get a special piece of jewelry inscribed with a memorable quote from the letters. Put the quote on your phone's wallpaper, so you see it every time you unlock your phone.

Best yet, take the words and live them out to the fullest so that you are the living memory of your parents.

You glorify God by honoring your mother and your father. If those words in the letter are loving and perfect for building you up, then honor them with your actions and your thoughts. Let them, in light of God's Word, shape you into someone that, by mere example, their memory could never be forgotten.

Can you clarify what a pure girl is please?
I have a tattoo from 19 years ago. I still love it. I appreciate your opinion and of others here who disagree with tattoos. Did you mean tatoos and money and good careers are a deal breaker for many mature men or did you mean that the mature men who have good careers and money will see tattoos as a deal breaker?

I hope one day you get your book published. It sounds like something born out of love and remembrance
When I was a teen I did not like tattoos at all. Over time I changed my mind and 19 years later I still am glad I got my first one. So I would definitely not recommend body altering to young people - the extreme versions anyway. With my first tattoo I also thought of that one for years before I got it done.

I am saying that many men will see tattoos going down a girls arms as saying "party girl.' They don't need to read it or know what it means. It is a tattoo and that is enough for them to make that judgment.

Many of these men who are looking for a "party girl" (not to marry but to party with) will ask you on a date.

Many men who are single with an education and high paying careers and a home with savings and can offer a woman financial security are looking for a girl who is NOT a party girl. They are looking for girls who are smart enough to know not to get tattooed up and will see tattoos going down a girls arm and say "a party girl, not my type." And will never try to get to know them.

These educated, mature, successful men don't get tattooed because it is still taboo in the corporate world and they are looking for a girl who is smarter than to get tattooed like she doesn't care what people think. Not caring what people think is for teenagers not successful adults. I am saying that you could cut off many of these potential good options for a future husband by choosing to get a tattoo with a message going down your arm and the message is irrelevant. It is a tattoo and they all look the same to those who consider them to be a really dumb idea.

Wow, that's pretty rare. Most get them impulsively. I can tell that you are giving it a lot of thought to do the right thing.

Something came to mind a little while ago. If I had a family member who wanted to have a copy of something my parents had written a few examples came to mind.
1. Frame the letters as they were written and display them in a proper place to remind me of their love.
2. Print them out on the nicest velum I could find and frame.
3. Get them lettered on copper and hang up on display. Perhaps make it artistic with a few cherished items on the same wall.

I hope that whatever you do, it's a blessing to you for life. Your parents must have been extra special. It's good to see that kind of love.
