i am an agnostic, basically meaning i don't believe we can know whether there is a god or not, but for the most part i live my life like an atheist. below i will list a few questions i would like answered to better understand where you all are coming from, and feel free to ask me anything too. (this is a repost, i was told it would fit better here)

1) how did you convert to christianity or were you christian since childhood?

2) what is your opinion on the LGBT community?

3) what is your opinion on atheists?

4) have you ever questioned your faith?

5) do you believe media like harry potter or pokemon to be problematic? why or why not?
1)) How did you convert to the Christian faith?

When I was Muslim I met a Christian man who I felt comfortable asking faith related questions. He answered every question and I was sold on the Christian God being God, but didn't convert at that time because I didn't yet understand salvation (the concept made zero sense to me back then)

2 years later, out of the blue I had a dream. The angel of God came to me in my dream, say with me and explained salvation - I finally understood the concept perfectly and was saved in the dream, and I again confirmed it after waking, was filled with the Holy Spirit and then baptized. (Yes, some day I need to write my testimony).

I have never had a doubt since, to me this is Life, and I'll not give it up for anything. They can kill my body but they can't touch my soul.

2) What is your opinion of the LGBT community?

I have no issues with them, as people. I don't appreciate the constitutional right to civil unions, however, becoming a door to this whole "trans" insanity. If it weren't for that I wouldn't be bothered.

I don't think they are saved, I do think they live in sin, but that's no worse than what I was prior to being saved. In the end, it's not to me to judge them - unless and until it becomes a societal problem, such as all this trans insanity, then society must weigh in.

I do regret any support I gave for homosexual civil unions. The people I once pegged as crazy always said it would be used as a doorway to worse depravity, but I didn't believe them. I regret any support now... Those people who warned us were right.

3.) What is my opinion of atheists? Like any other group some are fine people, some probably suck. .

I just lost a dear friend to cancer who believed the Chinese version of the afterlife (something to do with joining their ancestors) I think it's an atheistic view overall.

At any rate, atheists don't bother me. Sometimes I do feel a bit sad for atheists, I've never known a day in my life I didn't believe in God, while I was on the wrong side of the fence for most of my life, I still believe in God. It's not something I've ever questioned, or felt any need to question.

In the end, we all rely upon faith whether atheist or Christian.

4.) Have I ever questioned my faith?

Since I'm an actual convert, I have to answer that with a definitive yes - however, since I've been Christian absolutely not, I've been saved near to 8 years now. (Nov. 2014 - present day)

5.) Do I believe Harry Potter etc is problematic?

No, but I like fantasy. It's kinda fun going off to a far away land. I myself enjoy shows and books like Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones etc etc.

Harry Potter is what got my daughter into reading for enjoyment and very much improved her grades in school - and as a parent I appreciate the author for her creativity. For my son it was the Dragonlance trilogy.

I don't see fantasy as a bar to faith. It's just an enjoyable escape from the day to day sometimes, much like good Sci-fi.

Anything else you'd like to ask feel free to.

Mod said to OP: Unfortunately, the post above is all I needed to determine
that you are here to promote your unbelief rather than look for answers.
Here
I read that post but the context seems to suggest something different than that in my opinion. The op seemed to be presenting the case of just as he can't tell Christians they don't truly believe in a God nor can Christians say atheists actually deep down believe in a God. Could it be that the op intent was to promote unbelief to try to change beliefs? I don't know the answer to that question either way.

I've read "The Bible Code"
In it, Drosnin says he checked various people and events, including things happening in the future. He pointed out that similar "revelations" had been sought in great works such as "War and Peace" and none were found, rebutting the idea that this was just an algorithmic trick, which would work in any large work. Notwithstanding all the intricacies, 'though, I don't believe it's genuine, because the "information" seems not to add anything useful to the Bible. It seems the Bible is a straightforward book in a way, and such silly word games would be incommensurate with its solemn message.
I agree with this post in that many of the people who get involved with this do seem to be caught up in silly word games trying to find some special hidden message.

I approached it from a very different angle. John says all things came into being through the word, so if I came into being through the word I wanted to see which words in particular. Like I said it was eye opening for my personal testimony but had nothing to do with new doctrines or secret meanings.

Hello Friends,

I read some very good responses and a good link or two to creation websites.

Here's one that might be a good tool for those with children, grandchildren or teens.

https://creationmoments.com

On YouTube, they have some good brief videos that honor our Lord of creation.

I used to really look forward to the broadcast on christian radio in my teens and twenties. I don't come in contact with atheists as much as I used to, but I see this as more of an education for christian children than tools to convince the hardened atheists.

One more post for your edification.
This is a documentary on atheism.
The time for someone to watch this is tough, before the colleges turn the children raised in churches into raging atheists. See Matt Powell's last debate with the Raging Atheist..
There is a short clip in the documentary below. His YouTube channel above has the full debate if anyone is interested.

Thank you.
I looked at this because I love science stuff and as I’ve said before, science for me glorifies the work of God so I went to look at their scientific explanation of Why the earth appears old and I heard the same old tired carbon lifespan dating which is an argument that makes no sense When presented alone.
Not good.

Here’s an explanation here: https://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/earth/geology/dinosaur-bone-age.htm

This thread reminded me of an infamous YooTubber who named himself, AronRa. First, I don't have reason to believe that the OP is a Satanist, but it reminded me of the short video below. Below that is the answer to one of the questions about gayness or something like that. I guess that has to do with atheism? Romans 1
Aronra claimed to be an atheist (sun ? god 🙄) and made it his mission to attack and undermine anything having to do with the true God. I figured that he was a Satanist or might as well be. Atheists have been more "mainstream" than Satanists, but they overlap in many core beliefs. This lady in the video is Matt Powell's wife and she came to the same conclusion independent of speaking with me. We've never met.

This is Aronra who is the speaker of the first convention of the Satanic Temple.
