Here's one for ya.

What is a bad habit that could end it after one date?

Let's set a scene. You pick up your date, she/he gets in your rig and off you two go. You go to your favorite restaurant. After eating you go do one thing you enjoy. After all this you drop them off.

You are alone and driving home. You think to yourself "I think I'm all set". Why? You only get one answer lol.

For me....I'd say if someone ate their whole meal chewing with their mouth wide open. Sometimes we bite to big...it happens. I'm talking fully committed through the whole meal.

I've never been on a date, but I guess if she was compelled to check her phone every two minutes I wouldn't be very tempted to pursue a second date.

But since I've never been on a date, I really don't have much of a clue what would be a "nope, forget that" trigger for me. Perhaps some day I will find out. Or maybe not.

I fully agree with you. Obviously, if she is checking her phone, she is not finding you to be worth her full attention. She would not be getting a second date. Rude and disrespectful.

I was waiting to see how long it would take before someone used this one. Didn't take long at all lol

We have grown men and women over here walking around shopping in those animal onesies. I find that really off putting.:LOL:

I don't know...

There's something about a woman in a onesie that brings out the animal in me.

Did I just say that out loud?

The phone one seems pretty bad. I don't have any "actual" input on the thread question though...although it is a fairly solid pet peeve of mine for a lot of reasons.

I could look past a phone addiction. It's like smoking (equally obvious)...if it doesn't apply to you it's easy for people to look down on it but what about the less obvious things?

I don't like using a phone for stuff I'd rather do on a PC and other than mounting one in my car, I can't use a PC on the go so...

Other than search queries I don't do too much on one. I would check a voicemail if I felt like it might be important as there's no way for me to see who it's from even when I get one. A text or missed call could be ignored if I know the sender and it is irrelevant.

Besides, being glued to a phone on a date seems like it could mean a few different things. It could be that she is attracted to you and is uncomfortable with that and it manifests as that. Or maybe that she's uncomfortable because you are a strong personality that she has to get used to and the phone is her shield? Or even the social awkwardness of dating and that's a defense mechanism (shield again) Or it's an addiction.

I could go on and on with hypotheticals. Not terribly useful because each situation is different but I don't think it would always necessarily mean that a person has written you off or is being rude intentionally.

Definitely there are worse habits.

Wait, which part? The part about the phone or the part about not really having much of a clue?

For all I know, I might be on my phone all the time.

At the meet-up last April we spent some time on the forum, and we were all in the same room. cinder was not amused that we were all at a meetup but spending so much time on the forum and talking to each other about what we were doing on the forum... but Rod, seoulsearch, Pipp and I were very much amused.

For all I know, if I went on a date both she and I might spend a lot of time on our phones and talk in between.

No conversation. I like being able to "click" with someone. I like it when conversations can resemble tennis matches. Back & forth, back & forth... If she's dead and says little, then she's either bored or has no thoughts. Either way, I thank her for her company and move on.

My typical "conversation" on a dating app:

yes when with a date i put phone in pocket and turn sound off. so i hope she does same

all i can control is what i do. not what she does. be the example you want them to be.
